Green Lantern Flying To New Orleans

According an official (Kevin Murphy) at New Orleans' newly-constructed Second Line Stages has revealed that he has been contacted by producers and says Green Lantern production offices could be set up in town as early as this week. Read more here...

Kevin Murphy, manager of studio operations at the facility had this to say:

"The rumours are correct, we are working out the details, and we have a nonrefundable contract to rent stage space to the production."

"It would be: paint dries on one day, they're moving in the next," he told The Times-Picayune. "It's an awesome opportunity."

The revelation follows recent confirmation that production for the Green Lantern movie is moving out of Sydney because of the strengthening Australian dollar adding $20million to the budget.

Rumored also was locations of Canada and Mexico were under consideration.

Production crews would move into the New Orleans facility in December and begin building the sets. Filming would then start in March and continue into July or August 2010.

Nothings been confirmed as yet, but other locations would also be used for shooting too. Ryan Reynolds of course has been confirmed in the title role as Hal Jordan but no other cast members as yet have been named.

On a special and interesting note, Warner Brothers also filmed the DC adaptation of Jonah Hex in New Orleans too, with Josh Brolin playing the lead role of the hard faced Civil War-era gunslinger cowboy, with Megan Fox and John Malkovich. This could be a very good reason the Green Lantern crew is going there?

Martin Campbell (James Bond: Casino Royale) is the man set to direct the Space Opera adaption, and the DC movie is due out on June 17th 2011.

LEEE777 - I still cant actually believe it's happening myself, it's like "The Flash" or "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League," one of them projects that's talked about but never happens. Anyway it is happening and i for one am truly happy that it is, also we at CBM has heard Guy Gardner will be in the origin, though i knew myself he would of course lol, others really didn't. One word, well two Bradley Cooper, perfect for Guy Gardner! ; )

LEE: From my article...

According to The Times-Picayune, 'Green Lantern' may have moved production and filming to New Orleans, Louisiana. The manager of studio operations at the New Orleans-based Second Line Stages reported that producers for the superhero movie have contacted him about the studio space, and that "'Green Lantern' production offices could be set up in town as early as this week."

And dont start whining - if someone beats me writing an article i delete it or if im told its old news (as i was by you and a few others a week or so ago) i delete it!

joshw24 - 10/23/2009, 1:10 PM
you know I have been a huge green lantern fan since I've started reading comics, I think the director is good, but im still on the fence with ryan being Hal..I don't.

As far as Bradley Cooper for Guy, Good Choice, however think he would be better being Booster Gold, IMO
cavemanoo - 10/23/2009, 1:50 PM
Lee: You have not seen Renner act, so don't sh*t all over the choice just because it's different than yours, which you seem to do, particularly to me and Josh, quite a bit.

Renner = Guy Gardner

InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/23/2009, 2:18 PM
My choice for Guy Gardner.

MovieTheaterLad - 10/23/2009, 4:22 PM
I would never believe that Anderson would be an actual Green Lantern. I can't see him as a super hero at all.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 10/23/2009, 5:08 PM
@ Tyler - i like your pick ...
BUT....
@ Movie Lad - can see his pick better for the role since Guy has to be a prick and boy that guy can be a prick ... Clerks and Clerks 2 ... Ultimate prick ... ;-)
thegreek - 10/24/2009, 12:55 AM
JOSH @ Lol!

TYLER @ I don't like the look of that kn@b, i dont care if he can act or not, he looks nothing like GG!!! He looks like a HOBBIT!! : D

MOVIELAD @ NO NO & NO!! He's great in CLERKS but no way GG!!

BRADLEY COOPER = PERFECT GG!! ; D
LEEE777 - 10/25/2009, 12:59 PM

LEEE777 - 10/31/2009, 2:19 AM
I'ed have to put my vote in for Cooper as Guy, Renners good and I like his films better then Coopers, but sorry Renner dosen't have the look at all while Cooper(who is also no exact copy) is a litte bit closer to the image.
