TDKR is the last of the Nolan Bat Trilogy. I was disappointed with it. I will explain why.

1. BINO: He turned out to be just a henchman. He was difficult to understand. He looked nothing like Bane. He was not very intimidating. He did not even use Venom. His death was very pathetic. He was killed by Catwoman? What the heck?!

2. Catwoman: She was never referenced as Catwoman. Another fail by Nolan! Anne Hathway just played Selina Kyle, nothing more.

3. Lack of Batman: The whole point of the movie was for Batman to rise, NOT Bruce Wayne. Batman only appeared for a total of 15 minutes. The Dark Knight Rises? Hardly. More like "Bruce Wayne Rises."

4. Too Long: The entire film is 165 minutes. That's Two Hours and 45 minutes of life wasted!

5. Unknown Villains: Bane is unknown to the general public. Talia' Al Ghul is VERY unknown to the general public. Nolan should have picked Riddler and Penguin.

6. Ending: The ending took place over a course of 10 minutes. Batman supposedly dies. He leaves John Blake(Robin wtf?) his Batcave. With no training or mentor. Alfred then sees Bruce with Selina. And he was not pissed that he was lied to?

The rest of the film was enjoyable. Overall an 6/10

I know your fairly new to this, but this is not so much a review as it is "These are the things I hate about TDKR... The End". Read a few of reviews in the review section.. Even the negative ones are balanced to some degree stating at least a few good points and they generally end with a final conclusion which includes some sort of rating.
BattlinMurdock - 8/10/2012, 12:13 PM
Why is this in Editorial? It even states "REVIEWS" in the title

Professional?
TheLoveDoc - 8/10/2012, 12:55 PM
Should I be surprised you didn't like it? This is short and poorly written by a "Marvelite"(lol) that disliked the movie just to dislike it.
95 - 8/10/2012, 12:59 PM
Did we really need a "review" from you? You've been quite vocal about this before. I mean even "TheMarvelite is indication, enough.

I can't argue with your opinion points, but I will say that Bane and Talia were done for thematic reasons. Selina Kyle is referred to as a "cat burglar" and in the screenplay she's named by "Catwoman".

As for Point #6: John Blake represents the future of Gotham — he's young and noble — when he discovers the Batcave it means more than simply him inheriting the cape and cowl — it signifies that Bruce Wayne has given the tools of the Batman to the people — that final shot with John Blake is very symbolic — Gotham as a whole... rises.

Honestly, they may never need a "dark knight". It was Batman and his association to the League Of Shadows that resulted in Gotham being targeted. It was Batman and his rise to prominence that caused "escalation" a la The Joker. With Batman gone and remembered for his sacrifice — Gotham will attract less hate/terrorism. Christopher Nolan has made Batman a metaphor for the United States Of America, in many ways..

But of course, if trouble arises, an untrained John Blake will be there. lol. He's young, he'll take martial arts lessons.
Stumblin - 8/10/2012, 1:02 PM
@TheMarvelite, anyone can supply a review at Rotten Tomatoes, the difference is whether or not you're getting paid. So yeah, not much of a professional...

I didn't really like TDKR but I really don't like your review, there is no substance. Basically I can sum your editorial opinion by a few simple words, "It really wasn't like the comic books and it was long."

Try again.

You might not eat it, but you got it!
Stumblin - 8/10/2012, 2:08 PM
"Why does everyone think Amazing Spider Man is better than TDKR?"

I think you answered your own question.

Look if you think Rises was better cool, I don't personally care it doesn't effect my opinion that I enjoyed ASM more. I was bored watching Rises, the action was meh, the story was half assed along with the romantic chemistry terrible climaxes which weren't really climaxes because Nolan basically spelled out the end of the movie in the first 30 minutes.

That said, I still thought it was an OK movie, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:21 PM
Did you enjoy Arkham City Marvelite?
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:27 PM
Anyway, if you are going to be just as upset with Catwoman saving Batman's ass in TDKR, then you have to be equally upset with her saving his ass in Arkham city. You know to that henchmen. That took over Gotham, kicked Batman's ass, and was going to completely ignore his bitch at the end. Talia said keep Bruce alive. Bane was going to kill him with a shotgun, until Catwoman came in like a boss to save him.

But yeah he was a henchmen. You know, who devised a completely elaborate plan to isolate Gotham City, break Bruce Wayne financially, physically, and emotionally, and accomplished what he set out to do.

I liked how Catwoman saved him. It means that Bruce was inspiring the citizens to take back their city. He was able to inspire one of the most corrupt and cynical citizens to help in his cause. Sounds like a victory to me. And the end just symbolizes that anyone can be Batman, I liked it. Very touching.

RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:30 PM
Ras a ghul was an unknown villain. It didn't make Batman Begins a bad movie, so that point is shit.
SteveRogersSon - 8/10/2012, 3:31 PM
My brain hurts from just clicking...Oh I mean HITTING THE JUMP...to this page...

Oh well..back to watching The Avengers for the 100th time.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:31 PM
Apparently you didn't get the end of the movie. Batman didn't die, he is immortal. He will continue to live on as a symbol. A symbol that John Blake inherited. Bruce Wayne is just not Batman anymore. It doesn't mean Batman is gone. He is very much alive.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:32 PM
How is number 4 even a point? By the way this article reads it's almost like you wanted the movie to be longer to resolve your, umm, issues with it. Again another point that makes no sense.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:33 PM
Catwoman was referred to as the Cat in the movie. Apparently you missed that. Oh well, I guess someone like you needed her to state in a very cheesy manner. I'm cat woman.

In Arkham city she isn't referred to as Catwoman. She is referred to as Selina. So if you are going to be upset with this movie for doing that, then you have to be upset with the game as well.
SteveRogersSon - 8/10/2012, 3:33 PM
I still haven't and won't see it.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:35 PM
Batman's total screen time (with the costume on) totals over one hour.

The Chase from the stock exchange lasted 20 minutes.
Bruce Wayne finding and fighting Bane lasted 15 minutes.
The ending, which starts when Batman arrives back in gotham lasted over 45 minutes ( you know when he lite the flare, and saved the cops until the very end where he flew the nuke out of Gotham).
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:36 PM
@SteveRogersSon

It's really not a bad movie. I understand you don't want to see it, but don't let the fanatics of this film sway you. It's a very fun time at the cinema, different from The Avengers, but not worse in any regard.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:38 PM
Yeah Bane wasn't intimidating. He only crushed a guys windpipe, snapped a guys neck twice, wanted to set off a nuke in Gotham city, shot and killed another man. Not to mention completely isolated Gotham City holding it hostage, oh and did a little thing I like to call, kicking the shit out of Batman!!

Yeah he was so not intimidating. More so than Loki and the green Gob..err I mean lizard from TAS.

na that's ok...The "ite" flamers on here have done their job...I have no desire to watch this film.

But Bourne and Dredd...On my list.
TheGothamKnight1939 - 8/10/2012, 3:41 PM
Professional? Bullshit.

1. You didn't watch the movie, did you? He was a partner, not a henchman. He and Talia did it together. He had Venom, it took away all pain he felt. Bane in name only? He was a genius tactician, he was in love with Talia, he was a member of the League, he was born in a (albeit different) prison, he had venom, he was Batman's physical superior (until he trained).

2. Iron Monger was never called Iron Monger in Iron Man. Did that hurt the movie? Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo in Iron Man 2 was never called Whiplash or Crimson Dynamo. Black Widow was never called Black Widow, if I remember correctly. War Machine was never called War Machine. Did this hurt either of those movies at all?

3. Bruce is Batman. He was Batman during the whole movie. What I think you mean is 'the suit didn't get enough screen time'.

4. It couldn't have been shorter without removing plot points. It was the perfect length for what it had to get done. Next you'll say that the Lord of the Rings films are bad because they're even longer than this.

5. The villains fit the ending. What challenge would Penguin and Riddler have given Batman that he hasn't had already? Did it really hurt your enjoyment that the general audience didn't know about the villains? Did the general audience know of Iron Monger, the Chitauri, Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo or Loki before those movies? I know no one I know that's not a comic fan did.

6. The ending worked well. Alfred WANTED that, he even said that's what he wanted earlier. Blake has the Batcave but has no training, yes. But, he can learn. Not saying he might only last a week or two, but he can learn.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/10/2012, 3:42 PM
@SteveRodgersSon

Man the Bourne movie was awful, in my opinion. Give the film a netflix or a red box rental though. Don't let this site ruin a very good comic book movie for you man.

Honestly I don't care if people hate this film. I just wish more would be intelligent about it. I LOVE it when people have different views from mine, as long as they are well thought out and articulate. This like many other "editorials" on this site, is just lazy, and should be deleted.

I am stoked for Dredd though. I Don't care what anyone says, the old film with Stallone was awesome. It was terrible, but awesome.
TheSkywalkingKnight - 8/10/2012, 3:49 PM
He is a 14 year old after all...
SteveRogersSon - 8/10/2012, 3:50 PM
Rid...well I won't argue for or against something I haven't/won't see. and by looking through my past, I've not said anything bad about the movie...just the mindless droves who would apparently watch nothing else...and yes I'm talking about those who continuously state their opinions over and over.

MY opinion...I saw my CBM of the year in May..pure and simple...but some of the morons on this page..both Marvel and DC/WB/Nolan...just soured anything about it...

and yes..I will say earler this year, I contributed to the war...but to say it got old is an understatement.

JUDGE DREDD..ya know what...I liked watching that film...STILL DO!!! and the costumes weren't that bad!...the ABC Droid was a monster...the overacting..sinfully wonderful...even...UGH Rob Schneider..but Diane Lane..yummy as always

So you say you want to debate but you delete comments? LMFAO!
TheGothamKnight1939 - 8/10/2012, 4:08 PM
The guy who says that Catwoman not being called Catwoman (See: Black Widow, War Machine, Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo hybrid and Iron Monger) and that the villains not being well known to the general audience (Loki, Iron Monger, Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo hybrid) are detractors from a movie is calling us idiots? Why am I not offended at all?

Maybe we wouldn't hate if:
1. You stopped deleting comments and debated instead of being butthurt.
2. YOU WATCHED AND PAID ATTENTION TO THE DAMN MOVIE.
3. You wrote a good article.
4. You made valid points (there are problems, you just pointed out none of them).

But, you're just going to delete this, aren't you?
