Evangeline Lilly has recently shared more about her character, Tauriel, in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and this time she told how she had concerns that character wouldn't do good at first, but after the decision was made, she called it a blessing. ''It was totally liberating that Tauriel was a new character. I was, of course, aware that I would be under deeper scrutiny because people would be wanting to hate her, but once the decision was made to do it, then it was nothing but a blessing." She then adds, "At that point it was all about, 'Let's create the best character possible so that people have to fall in love with her' instead of, 'How do I live up to 50 years of people envisioning this character?'" I certainly think she played her role very well in the film and i think she will do great once again with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in December! What do you think? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Tauriel is a bit too much for me to really like her. Young (for elven standards) and pretty, though already captain of the guard and a seasoned warrior. Also a very talented healer, and blessed with enough wisdom to look past the deadlocked animosities between elves and dwarves. She's just a little too perfect.

That doesn't even take into consideration that she's been given a way too big role for a completely new character, and that she's part of a lot of movie-only scenes I personally dislike for a variety of reasons.

@Kyos

To me she seemed more rebellious rather than wise, which would fit her relatively young age. Her being a captain was a little too much tho.

Well, Legolas and Gimli's friendship from LotR was something rather special, and now we know that Legolas was at least partially taught the kind of tolerance and open-mindedness that lead to their friendship by the example of Tauriel and Kili. That's a lot of influence for a newly invented character.

Best character possible? In Desolation of Smaug was a totally mess,bad acting and worst writing,and in general Desolation was an insulting to the book,I think Tolkien had a jolt from the grave

'The Fellowship of the Ring' just started on TV, and damn, that music alone gets me instantly. Why can't I love Hobbit movies as well? :'(

I like Hobbit films better than LOTR.
It's because I don't like Hobbits & thankfully there is only one in these new films.
Plus there was very little of Gollum...only Jar Jar Binks is more annoying.
Bilbo is also the most likeable Hobbit,Dwarves are cooler overall.
