Entertainment Weekly have dived in to the newest Star Wars Rebels trailer! While their report revealed many new intriguing details about each of the main characters going forward, it also answered a question many fans wanted to know. That question is: Who is the "Old Master"? Well, after looking at the image above, there is only one obvious choice. Yup, you guessed it! The mystery Sith Lord is none other than the evil Darth Maul.

Since EP Dave Filoni loves the ideal of speculating, he didn't say Maul's name, instead, he says we'll have to wait and see how everything comes together. "Even if they guess right about everything they think they’re seeing, they won’t know how it comes together, which really becomes the fun part for me," Filoni said. "So if you’re guessing right and the character is who you think it is, it still doesn’t answer: What in the world is that character up to?"

With that said, you might ask how did Darth Maul managed to survive after the events of The Phantom Menace? Well, if you are a comic reader, or a fan of the Clone Wars series, you'd know that Maul survived and gained a new mechanized form. With Star Wars Rebels set to return next Wednesday, I'm sure many, many more questions will be answered. For now, share your thoughts about this in the comment section below!

I don't get why people thought that was Snoke or someone else. Anyone who watched Clone Wars knows that was Witwer doing the voice over in the same voice he did Maul. Plus if you brighten up the image you see Maul.

I just hope they don't involve Obi-Wan. We don't need Maul & Obi-Wan in Rebels or a Obi-Wan film. That Maul Season 5 revenge on Kenobi arc was [frick]ing perfect. Maul no longer wants revenge on Kenobi.

I would prefer to see Maul fight Vader. That would be [frick]ing epic.

How did people think that that was anyone else but Maul?

@Grif - I've already mentioned this on another thread but I'll say it again. He never really got back "in league" with Palpatine. If you look back at their fateful duel in TCW, what happened was Maul had claimed to have did what he did, in hopes of becoming Sidious' apprentice once more (which was never true). Obviously, Sidious saw through his deception, mingled a bit, and then went on to satisfy his sadistic urges.

Since the show was cancelled, the continuation of Maul's storyline was adapted into a comic book miniseries - 'Son of Dathomir'. In that, we find out what Sidious meant when saying he had "other uses" for Maul. The only reason he kept Maul alive, and imprisoned, was so that he could draw Mother Talzin (remember her?) out and eliminate her once and for all. Obviously I'm not going to give you a whole summary of the plot, read it on the wiki if you like.

Savage Opress is one of the dumbest names I've ever seen on Star Wars, and that's saying a lot.

I'm not a fan of prequels about characters we already know, but I would LOVE to see an Obi-Wan prequel where he has a rematch with Darth Maul.

Clone Wars and Rebels can be mined for good trailer fodder, but the actual minute-by-minute on each is pretty intolerable and obviously made for children.

I'm not sure about Darth Maul, but that's certainly a Zabrak.
