According to a new report by The Wrap, James Cameron's Avatar 2 will not be ready in time for its planned December 25th, 2017 release date. This past Thursday, Twentieth Century Fox declined to speak on the film missing its window, which makes us wonder what exactly happened that caused the film to delay once more?

If I had to guess, I'd say it had something to do with Star Wars: Episode VIII changing it's release date to December 15, 2017 - just ten days before the release of the Avatar sequel. Judging how The Force Awakens was a big success in the box office, "Episode VIII" only looks to match that film's greatness. And if that would be the case, Avatar 2's ticket sales would drop dramatically.

No new release date for the Avatar sequel has been revealed yet, but as of this reading, Fox has the franchise's next two sequels set to debut in December of 2017 and 2018. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, and expect an official statement from the studio in the coming days! With that said, be sure to stay tuned to ComicBookMovie.com for any updates!

[frick] it, I'm still excited.

Even though the first one was meh, it was one of the best visual experiences I've had in a theater. This will surely live up to that aspect of it.

Pitt@ They literally just pushed Star Wars back to a week before Avatar 2, in the last day or so. One of them had to budge.
Math.

T2 was more of an event.

The Terminator was more of a film.

Is this coming from an anonymous source? The article on the wrap just says, "The studio on Thursday declined comment on the delay, which individuals with knowledge of the situation confirmed."
