James Gunn took to Facebook today to share how excited he was that Vin Diesel just finished his final voice session as Groot. He had this to say:

Vin Diesel just finished his final session as Groot (well, for 2014 at least). All of us are astounded that one man can bring so much amazingness to a character who can only say three words. We don't affect Vin's voice at all and he sounds like an otherworldly tree! Every "I am Groot," every grunt and shriek and whine and holler is filled with heart and humor and passion. When I returned from the session, I told one of our producers, Victoria Alonso, that I think we could audition every single person in the world for Groot, and Vin Diesel would still be the best. I know directors almost always praise their stars - and, God knows, I've been fortunate with the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy - but I've never been more stunned by an actor able to bring so much more to a role than I originally thought possible. Rocket may be the heart of GotG, but Groot is its soul.

Well we're only about 2 months away from the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm excited, are you? Sound off below!

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.

Umm yeah, Groot was nothing special imo. Rocket was awesome though!
TChalla - 6/13/2014, 2:25 PM
Oh wow, I forgot you saw it!

Yeah yeah, how was Thanos? Did he look the same as he did in Avengers and did he talk?
McNyagano - 6/13/2014, 2:32 PM
@TChalla

They didn't really change his look from the Avengers and yes, he talked.
TChalla - 6/13/2014, 2:35 PM

DaVinci31 - 6/13/2014, 2:47 PM
That's great to hear. Glad that Vin is back in voice acting as well, I loved him in The Iron Giant.

themidnightking - 6/13/2014, 2:48 PM

batz11 - 6/13/2014, 2:51 PM
It was kinda weird though hearing him in the trailer or featurette or whatever the [frick] it was, he's right, sounded exactly like Vin Diesel, think they should have "digitized" it a little at least...
TheAbaryMan369 - 6/13/2014, 2:51 PM
The biggest thing I am looking forward to in this movie is the way the team will connect and how they will establish a relationship. It could either be a hit or miss.
McNyagano - 6/13/2014, 2:52 PM
@DeusExSponge

McNy What's your twitter name? Link please?
ezio619 - 6/13/2014, 3:15 PM
Mcnyagano-do u think the team connects well and is it belivable ,also what did u think of the various arcs of the characters in the film and whose did u like the most?

i was expecting some trolls on this thread by now but alot of the cool people are here thats cool,i know mcnyagano wasnt too impressed with groot,he thought he was alright,i cant wait for Chris Pratt as Star Lord and Bradley Cooper as Rocket the most!!
McNyagano - 6/13/2014, 3:17 PM
@superotherside

Just look up McNyagano on twitter and you'll find me;)

@ezio

Yes it was believable and Rocket was my favourite:)
ezio619 - 6/13/2014, 3:21 PM
Mcnyagano -cool, man u really loved Rocket,does he have any good lines?
themidnightking - 6/13/2014, 3:28 PM
@McNy
In what context does Rocket say "This one here's our booty"?
JohnCarter - 6/13/2014, 3:31 PM
@ezio619

The trolls don't know enough about Guardians of the Galaxy to properly troll any articles about them. They still think the funny parts come from Disney, not knowing or understanding that's in the spirit of James Gunn and the comic book the movie is based on.
ezio619 - 6/13/2014, 3:40 PM
JohnCarter-yeah ,it wasnt overly comedic, then it wouldnt be the guardians of te galaxy that this team is about
SniktBub - 6/13/2014, 3:57 PM
@McNy- On a scale of 1 to 10, how hot was Gamora. Please do not base this off of promotional materials, only the movie
MrAisA - 6/13/2014, 4:17 PM
@McNyagano If Diesel JUST finished his voice work, did Groot not have a voice when you saw it?
Amazing512 - 6/13/2014, 4:21 PM
I don't know why everybody has a hard-on for Mcnyogano's opinion when he saw an unfinished version of the film.
That's not a shot at you, Mcnyogano. I just don't think anybody should rely on anybody's opinion so much if they saw an unfinished product.
sKeemAn - 6/13/2014, 4:24 PM
Yeah he got paid a few mill for a days worth of work. Gotta love the movie industry.
marvel72 - 6/13/2014, 4:27 PM
more interested in seeing how rocket & groot work together than groot on his own,also looking forward to seeing ronan & gamora vs nebula.
McNyagano - 6/13/2014, 4:29 PM
@themidnightking

Can't really say but it's during the scene he's planning the prison break;)

@SniktBub

7/10

@MrAisA

Yes he did.

@Amazing512

It's cool man. Happened with TASM2. Saw an unfinished version of the film and it was great but then the final cut was just dissapointing and now people are discrediting my opinion because of what I had said about TASM2 before seeing the final cut. They don't understand that things can change. Scenes get taken out, new scenes get added in etc. It's just how it works with these kind of films.
JohnCarter - 6/13/2014, 4:49 PM
@McNyagano

I hear ya. I saw an unfinished version (in terms of visual effects) of Hulk back in '03 and an unfinished version of Grownups months before even the trailers were released. I'm going to tell you, the unfinished version of Grownups was very good, very hilarious. But like you said, things change. At the same time, I've also seen fully finished movies like Flight Plan with Denzel Washington and Warrior with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton and they were every bit as praised by the critics and audience as I thought they would be.
JohnCarter - 6/13/2014, 4:55 PM
And my point about Hulk was that despite the vast improvements made since '03, I thought the finished version of Hulk made the movie look so much better. It changed my first impression of the movie completely.
Ace101 - 6/13/2014, 4:59 PM
@McNyagano

On a scale from 1-10. Ten being the best. How badass was Ronan and how memorable is he as a villian?
fedeferruzola - 6/13/2014, 5:05 PM
Boooring. ''Am Groot'' come on! I can do that.
