Before I continue, I am putting a SPOILER WARNING! If you don't want to know anything about Leviathan, please, don't read anything below.

Last month, a New York shooting schedule was leaked online revealing some big action sequences. The most intersting part was something about mysterious Leviathan, which caused a big discussion. Some said it might be an alien ship, maybe a part of the big camera that is used for filming but there was also an article where someone mentioned via Twitter that "Leviathan" is actually a sea-monster. Well, a source close to the production of the Joss Whedon-directed film, who've provided reliable scoops in the past, shared some brief details about it.

So, here we go. According to my source, Leviathan is indeed a giant creature. I can't say for sure if it's a sea-monster, but it is definitely a big CGI creation. I have been told that this monster is reptilian-like, with horns coming out of its head.

There you go. My first reaction to this was Fin Fang Foom. If you know about Foom's abilities from the comics, then there is definitely something interesting about it, that they could translate on the big screen. But, this is just speculation on my part. As soon as I get more info, I'll add it.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel’s The Avengers" is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

This is gonna be quite interesting. Awesome stuff bud!:)
grifter - 10/26/2011, 3:03 PM
I hope not. I hate big monster fights. I like one on one fights. Like Wesker VS. Chris in Resident Evil 5. Or Spider-man VS. the Green Goblin in the first SM movie. Having a big CG thing is a waste of money.
batmanrises - 10/26/2011, 3:04 PM
Oh, word? Giant sea creature huh?
95 - 10/26/2011, 3:05 PM
NYC was lookin' pretty dry in the trailer.

Loki's army needs a way to get here.

It's a spaceship.
AlexdoxA - 10/26/2011, 3:05 PM
Feige and Hiddleston have mentioned in interviews that "fans would be pleased" so it would be awesome if it wasn't just a monster created for this film, but a known villain like Fing Fan Foom... the only bad thing is that it would be kinda rushed a la "destroyer" in Thor
HelaGood - 10/26/2011, 3:13 PM
most likely some random creature...
nuck82 - 10/26/2011, 3:13 PM

incrediblesuperbatspider - 10/26/2011, 3:13 PM
I think they're bringing rosie o donnell in the mix
SlurpeeGuy - 10/26/2011, 3:14 PM
Loki would be more likely to call up Jormungand than Fin Fang Foom.
95 - 10/26/2011, 3:14 PM
The spaceship probably just looks like a dragon.

NYC Set. Fallen Alien Craft:

ThreeBigTacos - 10/26/2011, 3:15 PM
Well it could be. If it requires the Avengers to fight it, then it's got to be something amazing.
tomasocelot - 10/26/2011, 3:15 PM

THORGodOfThunder - 10/26/2011, 3:17 PM

DCMarvelFreshman - 10/26/2011, 3:25 PM
@3D There will be multiple species. If anything, the Leviathan could be something like a pet of the alien species lol never know.
nuck82 - 10/26/2011, 3:27 PM
you got horns down there? maybe you should see a doctor
marvel72 - 10/26/2011, 3:27 PM

nailbiter111 - 10/26/2011, 3:30 PM
good stuff wolvie. wish they used a mix of practical and cgi like jurassic park.
Jordanstine - 10/26/2011, 3:31 PM
They did say... Avengers had a really (REALLY) close tie-in to Iron Man 3.

So Fing Fang Foom would be a good bet.

What sounds more likely given that we've seen crashed ships and Aliens [MoCap] on set?

1. Something unusually large of its kind, especially a ship.
2. A very large animal, especially a whale.
3. A monstrous sea creature mentioned in the Bible.

There's no monster!

HelaGood - 10/26/2011, 3:34 PM
not fin fang foom
marcvader1 - 10/26/2011, 3:35 PM
Not digging this news.
95 - 10/26/2011, 3:36 PM
@DCMarvelFreshman

I get what you're saying, but concerning the "Leviathan"... I'm confident it's just a mothership.

Which also seems to clash with the Quinjet at one point.
NOLANITE - 10/26/2011, 3:38 PM
Its gonna be the poop clouds brother! Ya know parallax from green lantern? Well yeah except he's gonna be colored green like diarrhea poop. SCORE!! Marvel +1 , DC ??
MaddMonkk - 10/26/2011, 3:40 PM
Jormungand. Midgard serpent. If it's from the ocean then that would lead into a Namor story. I'm not saying that it is, that's just my opinion. BUT how cool would it be, after credits........a long shot of the city and the water at dawn...zoom in and Namor's head slowly rises....(like in Beowolf) then he rises and floats looking at city (pan out) and many other heads pop up in water......(chills) oh yeah!!!!

OMG THIS MOVIE'S GONNA BE AWESOME. OMG THIS MOVIE IS GONNA OWN TDKR. OMG THIS MOVIE IS GONNA BE THE BEST CBM OF ALL TIME. DC CAN SUCK MARVEL'S BALLS!....Hmmm, it's actually kind of fun being a Marvelite, maybe I'll do it more often.
MaddMonkk - 10/26/2011, 3:42 PM
or it could be mother ship belonging to Helspont from Wildcats and leads in to Avengers versus Wildcats movie......sorry that was just stupid
Bodwulf - 10/26/2011, 3:49 PM
I called it when the name Leviathan first appeared even did the concept art that the "alien Ship" could be a lower jaw!
Avengers Set pic,Thor,Iron Man,Captain America,Black Widow,Hawkeye,Tony Stark,RDJ,d23,trailer,New,Avengers,Leviathan
Bodwulf - 10/26/2011, 3:50 PM

In the title of this article replace the word "SCOOP" with "RUMOR" and put a "?" after "Revealed". There we go all better now. Until we here something that sites a proper source, it is nothing but rumor and speculation.

I learned from personal experience you can never trust a source, even if they are considered "reliable".
marvel72 - 10/26/2011, 4:05 PM
@ teabag

have you read what i've been reported for.......

one was about the dark knight rises trailer,i bet you can't guess which one.
95 - 10/26/2011, 4:14 PM
Ah, that's a damn good point @dantheman432.

But that was at night. The scene with the Leviathan from the call sheet was during the day.

I'm betting it all on Spaceship. Mock me if I'm wrong after May 4th when this releases ;)
superotherside - 10/26/2011, 4:19 PM
That would be epic! but I'm not sure that it will be in the film... great if it's in there but it's not a problem with me if it's not... lol
DCMarvelFreshman - 10/26/2011, 4:20 PM
@Ranger14 We only do that when aren't sure of something.

@3D Trust me, the source is more than reliable. There will be a mothership, but that isn't The Leviathan. They're too different things. The quinjet does in fact clash with the aliens' aircraft. You'll see soon enough:)
imnotahero - 10/26/2011, 4:23 PM
Leviathan is actually nothing. Joss Whedon is just messing with our minds.
