In the article over at Deadline about 20th Century Fox production president, it has also been revealed that studio closed the deal with director Matthew Vaughn to helm a sequel to his criticially acclaimed film X-Men: First Class:

"Fox has just closed a deal with Matthew Vaughn to come back and direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class, with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer back as producer."

Many thought this won't happen and that Vaughn will move on and direct something new, but I'm really glad he decided to come back. And even though the production on the first film was rushed, Vaughn and the whole cast managed to make a really good film. Hopefully we will get more updates soon. Simon Kinberg is writing the script and Bryan Singer will also be back as producer.
