THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Will Not Appear At This Year's San Diego Comic Con After All

While the previously reported rumor suggested that Christopher Nolan and his new and final Batman film The Dark Knight Rises will appear at San Diego Comic Con for the first time, it seems that is not the case...

Last week, it was reported that director Christopher Nolan might bring his upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises to San Diego Comic Con for the first time ever, and that Warner Bros. will promote this final chapter with a panel and screening of the film to lucky fans. Well, sadly, that won't happen. According to Drew from HitFix:

There you go... Nolan has never attended Comic Con, not even with his previous two Batman films. What do you make of this? Was this a great opportunity for the studio to screen this final chapter for all the fans? Share your thoughts below.

ISleepNow - 3/24/2012, 9:36 AM
made no sense anyways
Lilvic92 - 3/24/2012, 9:45 AM
At this point all you have to do is say "directed by Christopher Nolan" , or "from the director that brought you The Dark Knight" and the movie will make money. That's one reason why so many people went to go see Inception.
BB - 3/24/2012, 9:45 AM
nolan is an ass for disrespecting his fans like this hope the films shit so we can all laugh in his face the DICK!
TheDickRises - 3/24/2012, 9:48 AM
here comes the marvelites
Ryguy88 - 3/24/2012, 9:55 AM
Makes no difference to me. Its fun to read the whiners comments though.
MovieMann - 3/24/2012, 9:56 AM
Every one should know by now that Nolan doesn't give a shit about fanboys.
mrteaspoon - 3/24/2012, 9:59 AM
This is a good thing. Want comic movies to be taken more seriously? Then don't feel the need to pander to nerds in costume.
TheDarkSouffleRises - 3/24/2012, 10:03 AM
The team that made TDKR has nothing to gain from attending and fanboys aren't entitled to anything.
MisterNiceGuy - 3/24/2012, 10:03 AM
haha wow the comic book community (myself included) is impossible to please. there is always something to bitch about
batmitedimension - 3/24/2012, 10:07 AM
At least market it properly! They're relying on fan buzz and leaked set pictures and videos. The trailer barely revealed anything, Bane's voice has been getting loads of criticism. I just want the studio to TRY to market this movie.
loki668 - 3/24/2012, 10:08 AM
Sominabitch!!

Nah, it's not a big deal. Not like I was going to be there anyway. I'm looking forward to the movie, though. At least this way, there won't be 27 separate articles about the same event with the same 5 recycled photos.

Lord Loki has spoken
darkmetal - 3/24/2012, 10:16 AM
Why would it need the extra promotion? It has already been built up by its predecessor and what we've seen from it so far.
GiftedYoungster - 3/24/2012, 10:17 AM
It's called ComicCon not MovieCon.
clogan - 3/24/2012, 10:18 AM
Nolan isn't disrespectful but I'm pretty sure he looks at Comic-Con as a trivial thing and a loss of time. Instead, he could spend that time ****ing his wife!
AsianVersionOfET - 3/24/2012, 10:18 AM
@everyone complaining....go [frick] yourselves. That is all.
StrangerX - 3/24/2012, 10:27 AM
I wont be there anyway
Red187 - 3/24/2012, 10:33 AM
Mon Of Steel like Froggy said, to close to the release date!
NOLANITE - 3/24/2012, 10:34 AM
Im no loser in any shape or form.
Now I cant speak for TheSharkKnight though, he might just be a NOLANITE in the Hiding.

I dont blame Nolan for not attending, his movie will be out just days before "Comic-Con" and he doesnt need promoting, the film has enough to back it up.

@IronMan 25 days till trailer #2 releases. Well get it Mid april online.
Amazo - 3/24/2012, 10:34 AM
@TheDarkSouffleRises
'The team that made TDKR has nothing to gain from attending and fanboys aren't entitled to anything.'
You said all that needs to be said :)
ArtisticErotic - 3/24/2012, 10:35 AM
The only losers here are the people getting upset, because a director is not attending an event filled with cry babies and people who stab others in the eye over comic books. Yeah remember that pretty little number? I sure do and it’s pretty damn embarrassing if you ask me.

The Dark Knight Rises is already overhyped and expectations are high as ever, I think it’s nice that finally they are letting the momentum for this movie slow down a bit. Bane’s voice and Anna Hathaway as Catwoman and not mention Bales Batman voice have all gotten criticism enough already.

Also stop using that stupid term Nolanlite, it’s childish and just makes you look like a bigger crybaby than you already are. God I swear this site has some of the most spoiled and moronic people I’ve ever come across.
PaulRom - 3/24/2012, 10:36 AM
Nolan cares enough about the fans to give us some of the best films in the genre. Doesn't need a presence at Comic-Con to show appreciation.
rockerdude22 - 3/24/2012, 10:45 AM
Does it really matter if Nolan was going to be there or not? Or if the film was being screened or not? Not really. Would've been cool, but there's no need to get upset because it's not happening. We're all going to see the film anyway.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 3/24/2012, 10:50 AM
@Ironman53

There will be no sequel to Inception. Nolan has addressed this, a sequel to that movie would cheapen the first one.
NOLANITE - 3/24/2012, 10:52 AM
@IronMan53
Yeah its right around the corner, and before we know it, well all be in line at 1159 anxiously waiting for that 1201 so we can get both The Man Of Steel trailer (hopefully) and TDKR in full!

I dont think hes very supportive for Inception 2 idea. I think he might just go back to his originality style for a bit. Hell still have Man of steel to help with and Im sure hes rooting for a 2014 feature release for something.

@Plain

Agreed.
rockerdude22 - 3/24/2012, 11:37 AM
@Plain and NOLANITE Seriously, what is your guys' beef with The Avengers and Joss Whedon? All I ever see you guys do on here is constantly act like assholes and bring down Avengers and Joss anyway you can. Is it too much for you guys to think that BOTH movies can be great? I think not.
antonio - 3/24/2012, 11:45 AM
@Rockerdude with Nolanite? C'mon its in his name.
antonio - 3/24/2012, 11:46 AM
@IronMan Jonathan's Person of Interest is a really good.
Darkhaven - 3/24/2012, 12:07 PM
People are actually surprised at this? You will see George Carlin and Isaac Hayes at a damn Comic Con before you ever see Chris Nolan there.
CPBuff22 - 3/24/2012, 12:10 PM
I always assumed he didn't bring any of them to Comic Con because he makes a shit load of changes to characters and story arcs and is afraid to get a bad review there.

That would affect only the die hard fans and comic book fans but would cut deeply into opening weekend ticket sales.

That impact wouldn't be nearly as bad if a bad review comes out during opening weekend because the casual fan will still go to see the movie under the pretense that its just "Nerds being picky". That quote came from a friend who LOVED Green Lantern.

Not necessarily saying this to bash Nolan or his films but in general its risky to debut at Comic Con if your movie is too far from the source material.
Darkhaven - 3/24/2012, 12:24 PM
@CPBuff22: I'm looking for that article from a few years ago that was talking about the Comic Con movie phenomena. Even stuff that was basically par for the course in regards to comics were getting NUKED by fan reactions.

Movies got the worse of the treatment; only a few didn't have people jeer or just straight skip their presentations. Movie studios of damn near every kind has been avoiding Comic Con like the plague since then. It's the true trial by fire for geek material.
antonio - 3/24/2012, 12:30 PM
@IronMan I'm pretty sure it is. I haven't been on Netflix for about 3 weeks.
NOLANITE - 3/24/2012, 12:37 PM
@RockerDude
I got nothing bad to say about Whedon and his entourage of clowns. I got my opinion just like everyone else around here does. Its only those who get butthurt about it that complain. :) I have no doubt in mind both movies will be great, but TDKR will be better. Just accept the fact like everyone else does.

Person of Interest is well written antonio. Johnathan also has alot going for him, imagine a world where both brothers The NOLAN's dominate Hollywood...thatd be the day. Person of Interest's plot is also wicked, I saw the pilot and it made me think of the same schemes The prestige and Inception used. Mind twisting and creative.
antonio - 3/24/2012, 12:43 PM
@Nolanite I would kill to see an original sci-fi film directed by Chris Nolan and writen by Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams.
NeoBaggins - 3/24/2012, 12:51 PM
LMAO@ Known TDK-Hating Trolls pretending to give a damn about Nolan showing up at Comicon.

antonio - 3/24/2012, 12:57 PM
"At least market it properly! They're relying on fan buzz and leaked set pictures and videos. The trailer barely revealed anything, Bane's voice has been getting loads of criticism. I just want the studio to TRY to market this movie".
-batmitedimension

Ummmm.....1.) Isn't that the purpose of a trailer? To not show too much to the point were you know the story? 2.) The movie doesn't come out for another 4 months!! By the time April hits, the marketing will slowly kick in. 3.) The voice will hopefully get cleaned up by the time the film comes out. 5.)-
antonio - 3/24/2012, 1:00 PM
@NeoBaggins here is the biggest one. Well one of the biggest.

NOLANITE - 3/24/2012, 1:01 PM
Antonio- That movie would rock my socks! I think TDKR and WB is doing the Marketing right, theyre leaving it open a bit for the other films to do their thing. After Avengers comes out its an open highway for them till July 20th. Notice how TASM hasnt really marketed too much either?
antonio - 3/24/2012, 1:05 PM
@Nolanite well, TASM kind of is. In my opinion, more than DKR. Probably because the viral marketing team behind that movie IS THE SAME as the company that did the epic viral for Dark Knight.
dkhager - 3/24/2012, 1:05 PM
ArtisticErotic hit the nail on the head..couldnt agree more
rockerdude22 - 3/24/2012, 1:16 PM
@NOLANITE Except that you saying TDKR will be better is not a fact, it's an opinion. Plus, you don't know if TDKR is better. You won't be able to know that until the film comes out. By the way, you "have nothing bad to say about Whedon and his entourage of clowns"? You contradict yourself so much there. In most articles I've seen you post in, you constantly say how much you think Nolan rules and Whedon sucks like it's a fact. Seriously, you call Avengers a "clown show". It's okay to like one film over another, but if you constantly post comments insulting it, that just comes off as trolling. Seriously, you lost all credibility when you used "clowns" to describe something.
