If you told me at the beginning of the year that a Bond movie would make a billion I would have laughed in your face. Very deserving though, it earned every penny.

MrYurMomm- No, it's a standalone movie, no ties to QoS at all.

Good movies like Skyfall deserve to make lots of money. Transformers and Alice in Wonderland do not.

Quite an achievement, wouldn't have guessed this level of success.

@MrYurMomm

I'd only seen Quantum once, didn't remember much of it when going into Skyfall. Wouldn't say it's neccessary. Skyfall, on the other hand, could be seen as mandatory to watch for future Bond movies.

I really am surprised by all of this. Skyfall was good, but far from the BEST Bond movie. Ah, wait.... there it is.

great news for a good movie !!!

no 3D prices and beat tdkr at the foreign box office, well, Ice Age did it too !

LOL

Anyway, I did enjoy this movie a lot, great action, Daniel Craig as ALWAYS, doing a fine job, a Bond for the ages, that's for sure !!!

Awesome! This was definitely one of the best Bond movies of all time, and it's cool to see it doing so well both commercially and critically. It was the "Dark Knight" to Casino Royale's "Batman Begins", and it really helped to wash the bad taste of Quantum of Solace out of my mouth.

... Now let's just hope the Bond films can keep up this kind of quality. It's kind of a sad pattern, but it seems like every good Bond movie is inevitably followed up by a half-assed sequel. Frankly, I'm hoping for better this time around.

You can just skip Quantum of SOlace

Casino ROyale and Skyfall is where it's at.

The scene at the deserted island reminded me of Inception

Good for bond. You can see the Tdk influences all over and l8ke Tdkr if it was 3d would have made more money than the avengers. Props to Sam Mendes and his influencer for bond (Nolan) for focuaing on quality rather than 3d gimmicks like avengers.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are one story in two parts, they're the only Bond films that continue the repercussions of events into each other as well as chronicling the journey of Bond from Blunt Instrument to the path of Professionalism.

You'd be an idiot to miss QoS just because a few idiots think its not very good, it's every bit as well made for its purpose as the other two. Hopefully the 4th film will get back on track with the pursuit of the Quantum organization after this personal diversion with Skyfall.

SO HAPPY to see this happen!!!! What a great compliment to the James Bond series and just before its 50th year ends, the movie makes it to 1 BILLION DOLLARS!

I was hoping this would happen, after 50 years in cinema, the James Bond franchise could potentially be close to dying but the movie going public have proven with their money, that Bond is as well loved as ever and still one of cinema's greatest icons!

And Skyfall also gained so many achievements, its the highest grossing movie ever in its home country of the UK, its Sony's highest grossing movie, its the 14th highest grossing movie of all time and its the highest grossing Bond movie of them all and on top of all that, its something that is so rare these days, a big blockbuster with a great story, great characters and doesnt treat the public like idiots!

In my eyes, it is an achievement when a movie gets to 1 billion dollars. Its easy, in this day and age, for a big, well promoted blockbusters to get to over 500 million but when a movie hits 1 billion dollars, it means people went back a second, maybe even a third time to see it, meaning they immensely enjoyed it the first time and that is a real achievement for Skyfall, The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises

I hope this convinces the producers to bring back Sam Mendes again, so we can get another great movie from him and the awesome Daniel Craig!

Congratulations to the producers, Sam Mendes, the actors particularly the now incredible Daniel Craig, the iconic Judi Dench and the fantastically villainous Javier Bardem

I was disappointed they didnt do more to celebrate the 50th anniversary
they should have re-released all 22 previous Bond movies in the cinemas across the world
brought back all of the singers of the different Bond songs to perform in a special concert
and they should have had a big event to celebrate the 50th anniversary, by bringing all of the 6 Bond actors together for an event (along with all of the surviving actors from the Bond series such as Bond girls, villains, allies etc) because I dont mean to be cruel but they really should have gotten the 6 actors together because half of them will probably be dead by the time of the 60th anniversary

But nevermind, a brilliant Bond movie that has made it to 1 billion and was an intelligently written movie that had great references to the past but looked to the future, was a fine celebration of the Bond series!

BRING ON BOND 24!

This bond took 007 to a whole different level, so hopefully the follow up will be equally a good (what makes you think this is my first time) didn't see that one coming. Will miss Judi Dench as M though.
