Rose McGowan talks Conan and Red Sonja

Rose mcGowan gives an update on Red Sonja and what she think on Jason Momoa's Conan

When Rose McGowan attended the 6th annual tribute for late guitarist and her personal friend Johnny Ramone, a reporter from The Blairing Out Show asked her whats going on with Red Sonja? and her thoughts on the new Conan.

"We'll I just finished Conan, literally just finished and uh, So we don't know whats going on with Red Sonja. Because of male driven industry the thing that's gonna go first is Conan, which kinda makes sense because Red Sonja kinda came out after that, in the Robert E. Howard world. So we'll see. I hope to do it. I don't know, you know everything's based on maybe how Conan does"

"Jason who is 6'5 and he kills it in this movie, no pun intended, You could not find another actor. Jasono Momoa who is 6'5 in Hollywood, its just not gonna happen so they needed to cast someone unknown really."




Rose can next be seen in Robert Rodriguez's Machete along side Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robet De Niro, Lindsey Lohan, and Steven Seagal, due out next month on the 3rd.

Conan is due in theatres 2011.

I can't wait for Rose as Red Sonja. She will kick ass in a way that Brigit Neelson could only dream about.

That casting still boggles my mind.They didn't even attempt to cast an actress who remotely looked like she could fight.She's like 5'4, 100lbs.Some warrior.

Rachel Nichols SHOULD be Red Sonja!!! ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUES!!! Sonja MUST be attractive AND act convincingly!!! Rose couldn't meet those requirements to save her life! Let her be a Conan wench and nothing more.

Shaman - "Impressive... most impressive." Granted, she hasn't had too many big roles (I'll try not to hold the 'GI Joe' bit against her - LMAO!), but she IS a solid actor who does strikingly look the part (which is a HELLUVA lot more than I can say for Ms. McGowan!) Once again, your pick is out of left field, but right on the money - good job, I whole-heartly agree!

loganoneil- Actually my friend, i can't snag the credit for this. I don't know who brought her up first on here but a while back someone did and i completely agreed with it! I was just shock and appalled that no fan of the character had said shit yet about Rachel. GI JOE aside, she's a match made in heaven for RED ;)

Ceghead- That gorgeous gal starred in GI JOE (yeah i know) AND has some youtube photoshoots that EVERYONE should take a gander at! Now even though she's part of what fans say is one of the worst adaptations ever made, she was one of the best parts of it! ...i'm told. LOL I'm still boycotting it LOL.

I think some of you are being a little harsh on Rose. Check out her first photo spread from Maxim (from the 90's I think) and you will see some amazing shots. I think her looks changed after the auto accident that required some reconstructive surgery. Her acting could need some expansion in range but she was good in the Doom Generation.

The ony female character I can see make big bucks is Wonder Woman. I will give Red Sonja a try if casted wisely and YES to the beauty from G.I JOKE and Star Trek, Rachel Nichols. She is smoking hot. She is the green girl captain Kirk was having sex with in Star Trek.

Juggernaut@ I almost commented on the same thing. Now I will. One of the Masters that I worked with years ago was a 4'11" Okinawan man who once manhandled two college offensive linemen like they were nothing. I would rather tangle with the big muscle bound guy than the agile little guy any day. Size means little when it comes to being a warrior or fighter.

Rose McGowen looks like sh!t. Why do women get plastic surgery and lip injections. It ruins their appearance. Sorry. I don't want an obvious plastic surgery, botox lip filled RED SONJA. I want a natural beauty queen. like RACHEL NICHOLS.

There are only a few actors that I flatly don’t like. I don’t like their acting. I don’t like their personas. I don’t even like to look at them. One is Michael Cera, another is Rose McGowan. I don’t think that she would still have a career had she not hooked up with Rodriguez and had he not kept throwing her bones in his movies, where she continued to suck. Her acting reminds me of a bad child actor on a commercial; every word is pouty and her expression never changes (That could just be the botox and plastic surgery though).

I'm right with you there Nero! Rose McGaggin is one of the worst actresses the biz has to offe... throw away. I'm just happy she did hook up with Rodriguez instead of a good director like... i dunno, Nolan? LOL Yeah... i know, we still got Maggly down the line. Favreau? Alright... Scarjo wasn't any better. Damn i'm dyin' here.

i will love this movie, not for the acting or directing, but red hair (like red sonjas, not that orange shit) makes me horny, and if they get a really hot actress (not mcgowan) i wont care what else they do in the movie, because a hot main actress with darkish red hair will get me in the seat anytime

Red Sonja is supposed to be tall, red haired, warrior woman.
All of these women you are naming (Rose included)are short dainty women.
If you're going to cast true to character, honestly I think Laura Prepon would be the best choice.


Laura Prepon: TALL, sturdy built, good looking, red head, and I think she would be perfect.
