According to an AP report, the cost of making The Hobbit movie trilogy was of $745 million, which is three times as much as the cost of making The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Before Peter Jackson convinced Warner Bros. of make it a trilogy is was expected to cost $150 million for each of the two films they had planned. Some of the reasons for the much higher budget could be the never-seen-before frame rate of 48 frames-per-second and because it was filmed in 3D, unlike the LOTR trilogy.

Despite the high cost, the movies have been very successful as each one of them has make around $1 billion in the boxoffice for a total of 1.975 billion and it is expected to cross the 3 billion mark at the end of The Battle Of The Five Armies´ boxoffice run, which opens in theaters December 17.

What do you think of The Hobbit budget? Have you like the movies as much as The Lord Of The Rings? And what do you expect of the last movie? Share your thoughts below and thanks for reading.
