10 More Baddies I Want To See On-Screen

A few months back, I posted an editorial that discussed 16 comic book villains that I felt deserved the big screen treatment, which can be found HERE. I had some good response and I knew that I had left off some big names, so here I am with 10 more Comic Book baddies that need to be featured in an upcoming comic book movies and the actors who I feel would portray them well.

First, the folks from Marvel:

Galactus:
Aside from being the great and almighty leader of this awesome website, Galactus can end worlds....literally. We've seen him in a previous film, and while I felt they handled the Silver Surfer fairly decently, the interpretation we got of Galactus was just sad. A cloud? Really? I'll admit, though, that portraying Galactus on the big screen would be no easy task, if done right, he'd be amazingly epic. I'd like to thank Anil Rickly for the suggestion of an actor. I'm a big fan of his and feel he has the skill and the voice to pull the character off. Jeremy Irons would own this one.

Omega Red:
OK, so I think most of us would agree that we've been inundated with the Wolverine character, but there is one villain that would be awesome to see on screen. I included both this character and the actor in a fan cast I did last year. He's a very good actor and could do wonders with the role of Omega Red. Sean Bean has proven before that he can pull off the villain role and quite easily. I'd love to see the on screen duo of Hugh Jackman and Sean Bean in a Wolverine film.

Electro:
Breaking News! They are re-booting the Spiderman franchise! Like the X-Men films and Magneto, Spiderman has had some form of Green Goblin in every film. It's time to move on and bring in some new blood. It seems we are headed in the right direction with the idea the Lizard will be the villain in the next film. But wouldn't be cool to see a modernized and updated version of Electro? First thing I'd do is lose the rather campy mask and costume and make him a more imposing looking character. As for an actor, many people have suggested him and he happens to be one of my favorite actors. I think Ben Foster would own this role. His work in "30 Days of Night" and "3:10 to Yuma" show that he has that baddie gene in him and I'd like to see what he could do with the character.

Kingpin:
Again, this is a character we've seen on screen before, in a film that has the CBM.com crowd split: Daredevil. I think that most of us were surprised to see Michael Clark Duncan cast in the role of Kingpin and while I don't think he was terrible in the role, it would not be and still isn't my favorite casting choice. I also know that many actors have been suggested for the role, like James Gandolfini, Michael Chiklis, Bob Hoskins and Ray Winstone. I went with Robbie Coltrane, most known for his role as Hagrid in the "Harry Potter" films. He was also one of my favorite characters, Valentin, in "Golden Eye." I think he'd put a bit of a different spin on the character.

Now for the characters of DC:

Harley Quinn:
Now that we know that The Joker won't be returning to the Batman franchise, at least while Nolan is at the helm, the chances of seeing the Harley Quinn character on screen are pretty much nil. But we can hope right? Sadly, the fan favorite Britney Murphy passed away last winter and it's a shame because she was born for the role. Most fans have moved on to the choice of Zooey Deschanel, who I think would be great, but I wanted to go outside the box here. She is a very versatile actress and rather quirky in her own way. Parker Posey is no stranger to comic book movies as she has had parts in "Blade Trinity" and "Superman Returns" and in both of those films, she was one of my favorite parts.

Darkseid:
This is the character that I got the most heat for leaving out in my previous article. One of the main reasons I left him out was because I could not find an actor that I liked. I know that most people have their favorites and I went with a lesser known actor. He has had several roles on TV in shows like "The Practice" and more recently "Friday Night Lights." Steve Harris is a talented actor and I'd like to see him jump to the big screen and this may be the role for him.

Shade:
We've seen a lot of DC villains hit the screen and for they most part they've all been rather well known characters. I first saw Shade in the animated Justice League cartoons and I thought he'd be a cool villain on screen. The things they CGI teams could do with his power of darkness could be really cool. Add to that a bit of a martial arts element and he could be awesome. I couldn't decide between two actors but I'm leaning towards Vincent Cassel over Robert Carlyle, though both of them would be great in the part.

Talia Al Ghul:
I'm actually surprised we haven't seen her pop up in Nolan's Batman films, especially after her father, R'as al Ghul was so well received in "Batman Begins." They could have done some cool things with her included in a storyline. One actress really stood out in my mind when I thought of this character: Kate Beckinsale. I will admit, her acting abilities can be hit or miss, but given the right script and a great cast around her, she would be great in the role.

Vandal Savage:
This would be an interesting villain to include in a film, as he could be included in several different characters' films. But he would be an intellectual enemy to someone like Superman, but it wouldn't be Lex Luthor. Dean Cain, having played Big Blue himself, would be an interesting choice for the role of Savage. Cain is a decent actor and is rather under-used as of late, so I'd like to see him back on the screen.

Black Adam:
We've heard about a Captain Marvel film in the works for several years now and the project seems to be stuck in limbo. Dwayne Johnson has even mentioned that he'd love to play a part in the film, either Captain Marvel or even better, Black Adam. I think if there was anyone born to play a role, it's Johnson as Black Adam.

There you go. Feel free to comment or suggest different actors for the roles.

Compared to many people on CBM, I'm a relative newbie to the comic book world. I've just recently (within the last 10 years or so) started reading comics. However, I've been a fan of comic book characters nearly all my life, thanks to cartoons like the X-Men Series and Batman. Been downhill ever since.

I am an avid movie watcher and run my own movie website,(GeekBoyMovieNews) which covers a wide variety of movies, books and television news. There is nothing better to me than to sit back and a enjoy a good movie, or a crappy one for a good laugh.

While you may not see a lot of articles submitted by me, I've been an active user for close to three years here on CBM and I enjoy every minute on here. We have the best online community on the net her at CBM.com.

I've been lucky enough to climb the ranks here at CBM and the almighty Galactus has chosen me to act as one of his Heralds (Jr. Editor). So if you ever need suggestions or help on articles, I am more than happy to help out; you can find me in the CBM chat quite often. I also assist Big G in his "Beat Galactus Quizzes," so if you feel like you have a good question for the next quiz or suggestions on making them work better and more smoothly, feel free to drop me a line.

I look forward to talking and discussing comic books and their movies with all of you on the site!
