EXCLUSIVE: Josh Holloway Is NOT Up For A Role In The Avengers!

The Lost actors representative has told me that his involvement in 2012's The Avengers is nothing more than a rumor...

Yesterday AvengersNews posted an article that claimed, "there’s been talk between Marvel and his [Josh Holloway] group to play a 'lead' role in an upcoming Marvel film." The site claimed that it was likely he was up for the role of either Hank Pym, Hawkeye or Dum Dum Dugan based on "subtle hints" that they had recieved.

Like many of you, I was pleased to hear this news especially as I'm a big fan of Holloway's work in Lost and could see him being able to do a great job with any of the characters listed above. However, I decided to dig a little deeper with this rumour and after a lot of searching and several emails, I managed to get in touch with Melissa Kates from View Point LA who represents the actor.

I asked her whether there was any truth to the news and if she could tell me exactly what role he might be in the running for but was unfortunately met with the following response:

"Hi Josh – this is just a rumor."

So there you have it. Many thanks to Melissa for taking the time to get back to me! Personally, I still hope that we'll see Holloway get a role in a comic book movie in the near future but you can have your say with the below poll and in the usual place!

	As I've said above, this is a real pity! I'm happy in the respect that this leaves the role of Hawkeye open for Jeremy Renner but I would have loved to have seen Holloway in The Avengers! His take on Dum Dum Dugan for example could have potentially been very cool, not to mention the fact that it would have meant a larger role for him in the rumoured S.H.I.E.L.D movie! 	They aren't always posting BS. Their first scoop was the Pennington one which was confirmed. Since then everything else (with exception to this) is unconfirmed either way so they still might be true. This is the first thing that has had any push back. 	@Josh/Dogs: Allow me to clear up the confusion... MarvelousNews.com broke the news about Kevn Pennington signing a three picture deal with Marvel. That has been confirmed. AvengersNews.com is a separate site with a separate owner; so far none of their rumors have been confirmed. On the contrary, they have three strikes against them now: 1. They flat out said Pennington being groomed to play Captain Marvel; I debunked that last week by speaking to his manager. 2. They said The Avengers wont feature the Kree aliens; I as told otherwise by my source. Mine has come through several rimes already with confirmed info. 3. 	Starsapphire, that was a rumor that they debunked. Marvelousnews reported that one and Avengersnews debunked it. Oh and Poni, I think their articles said: Pennington could be playing Captain Marvel... not confirmed, they put a question mark after it and that no "Kree characters" would be in Avengers.. not references. 	Well, Josh's agent saying "This is just a rumor" doesn't necessarily mean he is not going to be in the Avengers. It could mean that he hasn't talked with Marvel yet as the article reported. It could mean that he is not up for one of the three parts mentioned. It could just be a smokescreen. One never knows. 	MULTI: Good points. I thought that they were the ones who broke the Pennington news but as they're not I'll have to agree with you. As I've said to ukboy below, the whole set up over there as well as all of their mysterious "inside sources" (it's amazing how a pretty much unknown site has so many! just reek of BS...
