Batman-News have pointed out the following post made by BATMAN-ON-FILM's Jett. Before you completely dismiss this though, it's interesting to read what the site point out about the source of this intriguing bit of information.

The tweet above from BOF’s Jett peaked my interest this morning. Jett has mentioned Robin Williams before on his BOF message board and Facebook page… could he be onto something? The last time Jett dropped hints about possible The Dark Knight Rises villains was when he kept mentioning Bane on his message board, and we know how that turned out.

Quite the tease, huh? As you may already know, Robin Williams very nearly played both The Joker and Riddler before Christopher Nolan took over the franchise back in 2005. Since then, he's often mentioned that he'd like a role in the lastest series of movies and Hugo Strange is also a character that's been linked to The Dark Knight Rises in recent months. However, Warner Bros have not announced this casting news along with Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

That'd be very interesting

I don't think Williams will play Hugo Strange any better than he could either Joker or Riddler. Hope this is just a rumor.
AlexdoxA - 1/28/2011, 10:06 AM
This would be a good turn of events... RW or not, I kinda felt disappointed at Catwoman and Bane being the villains, hopefully we still haven't seen everything there is regarding TDKR villains.
Havok89 - 1/28/2011, 10:09 AM
As a side villain Hugo Strange wouldn't be a bad choice.
Comedian03 - 1/28/2011, 10:09 AM
@Lansdowne
Yes, Jett has been wrong many times, many many times lol.
KaneVonDoom - 1/28/2011, 10:14 AM
I could see that being a very good move. He was great and creepy as sh!t in One Hour Photo and Death to Smoochy. Let's see if this actually pans out...
Ranger14 - 1/28/2011, 10:14 AM
Hmmm..Robin Williams could play the role quite well. He can be very dark, sinister and intelligent without the "cheese" factor. I could see that working very well under Nolan's direction.
80sFace - 1/28/2011, 10:16 AM
Not going to happen.

(Where the hell is Griff so I don't sound so negative?!?)
chasesuperremey - 1/28/2011, 10:16 AM

Although I really hope that they have a third character in this movie (selna kyle and bane aint enough), I just don't see Robin Williams as Hugo Strange. He may be in a similar age group, but Hugo Strange was physically built, Tom Hardy would've been perfect as him. I could see Robin Williams as Penguin, but more of the Oswald Cobblepot version, not as a deformed person.
StrangerX - 1/28/2011, 10:17 AM
I remember Williams was trying hard to get Nicholson's Joker role in Burtons Batman. It would be interesting to see him in a Batman movie.
YourMomNaked - 1/28/2011, 10:18 AM
Where's Arnold and Jim?
Jables - 1/28/2011, 10:19 AM
shit casting

i gotchu @80's lol jk

He might be good if this is true...

I love Robin Williams as an actor, and he has shown he has a drak side he can play, but he wouldn't make a good Hugo Strange. Strange is in peak physical condition, that which rivals Batman. He has trained himself like Batman, as a way to figure out who he is. In his psychosis, he has even impersonated the Bat, and has since found out who he is.

Williams just wouldn't work, from a phsyical stand point. He could play the part from an acting standpoint, though. But Nolan would really have to retweak the character.
JoshWilding - 1/28/2011, 10:20 AM
Personally, I'm not buying it. There's maybe a slim chance that this could turn out to be true (and it's actually a pretty decent sounding casting choice) but Bane and Catwoman are more than enough IMO. Plus, I have no [frick]ing idea who Jett is. :P
Xandera - 1/28/2011, 10:20 AM
I think he would do well with the part...
but I aint believin nothin without confirmation...
ElBicho - 1/28/2011, 10:20 AM
Not a bad choice, but I heard Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans were auditioning to play Strange...
monkeyjuice - 1/28/2011, 10:21 AM
Its a possibility....the 2 have worked together before, Williams was in one of Nolan's early films, Insomnia. You never know...Doubtfire vs Dark Knight!!
Shaman - 1/28/2011, 10:21 AM
Well... that would be stupid. Strange AND Bane in the same film??? Two characters that try to "best the bat", one by trying to "BE the bat" while the other tries to "BREAK the bat"? Sounds convoluted a tad. But hey, when has Nolan ever disapointed me?
Alphaman06 - 1/28/2011, 10:21 AM
This is false and Catwoman isn't in the movie... Its just Selina Kyle not actual catwoman
skidz - 1/28/2011, 10:21 AM
Maybe Strange would have a connection to the 'venom' chemical and provide it to Bane. Again, going on the rumor that he's even in the movie.

StrangerX - 1/28/2011, 10:23 AM
@alphaman06 How do you know have you seen the movie. Nolan also said Two Face wouldn't be int TDK..hmmmm
JaySchluffy - 1/28/2011, 10:24 AM
NO. GOD NO.
asavagevandal - 1/28/2011, 10:25 AM
Batman Begins had Ra's, Scarecrow, with a cameo from Zsasz. The Dark Knight had Joker, Two-Face, with a cameo from Scarecrow. TDKR will have Bane, Catwoman...yep. I can totally see a cameo from Hugo. That would be pimp. And has anyone seen one-hour photo? Robin can pull of crazy when he wants to.
ComicbookmovieF4Lfe - 1/28/2011, 10:26 AM
That would be awesome he is a very gifted actor who could really bring Hugo to life in the right way. I'm pumped if this is true. Ace in the whole Nolan ace in the whole.
loganoneil - 1/28/2011, 10:27 AM
"Danger Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!"

Remeber those OTHER CBM's that packed in the characters (can anyone say 'Spiderman 3'? ...'Batman & Robin'?)? They totally SUCKED because there were too many characters and not enough time to fully develop any of them, leaving us (the audience) feeling ripped-off and totally jilted with half-@ssed plots strung together with duct tape and crazy glue! I think Williams would be an innovative choice for the role, but with the current line-up I hope and pray this is just a rumor because as it stands, the House that Nolan (re)built is getting pretty crowded these days...
TheArchitect - 1/28/2011, 10:29 AM
I don't think it would work.

Wanna know what would? John Malkovich playing Hugo Strange
coderaven - 1/28/2011, 10:29 AM
Be outstanding if true.

Stranges character really fits well into how TDK ended. But I am sure this is nothing, I am personally disapointed with the Catwoman so I am a bit biased in my hope.
BruceWayneNewton - 1/28/2011, 10:30 AM
I would love him in this role. I would like to see these 3 as the villains too. All of their stories could connect pretty easily.
CaptainQuirk - 1/28/2011, 10:32 AM
Please, stop posting nonsense....

You're just adding ridiculous fuel to the delusional fanboy fire!
dahamma - 1/28/2011, 10:32 AM
Man That wold be SO AWESOME! RobinWilliams would own that role
JosePetrelli12 - 1/28/2011, 10:33 AM
meh... we will see...
duncboy - 1/28/2011, 10:34 AM
I agree with asavagevandal, if you've seen One-Hour Photo or Insomnia (which, by the way was a Christopher Nolan movie), RW could def pull this off,
AC1 - 1/28/2011, 10:34 AM
he certainly looks the part... but I've never seen him play serious on a level like a Chris Nolan Batman Movie character... let alone a villain...
I'm gunna take this with a whole salt shaker
SpiderBat209 - 1/28/2011, 10:34 AM
Robin Williams is SUPERB! His Comedy Cracks me up!

No to Williams as Hugo Strange, though. He's Perfect for a cameo as Ventriloquist and Scarface!!! :D
Organa1978 - 1/28/2011, 10:35 AM
No Hugo Strange and no RW!
NO NO NO !!
naterator - 1/28/2011, 10:35 AM
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO IN NOLAN WE TRUST? HEHEHE,,,,RW WOULD BE AMAZING
rolanddeschain - 1/28/2011, 10:35 AM
shaman@ you raise a good point with putting Strange and Bane in the same movie. Two people with more, or less the same methods of attacking Batman would clash, and it would take away too much from the comic book arcs, too(not that they care about that, smh)
