Michael Shannon As Zod Spotted In Black Kryptonian Suit On Man Of Steel Set!

Photographer Ed Larom has taken photos of what appear to be Michael Shannon as Zod, sporting a black suit almost identical to the design we recently saw Henry Cavill wearing! We also see what facial hair he'll have! Hit the jump for more...

SYNOPSIS: In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

The following images come courtesy of Ed Larom via Superman: Man of Steel (2013) Facebook page (click on the link below to head on over there) and seemingly depicts Michael Shannon in a Kryptonian suit of a similar design to that of the Man of Steel himself. There are also reports coming in from the set that Henry Cavill has been doing wire work in his Clark Kent guise.

Faora's black costume is already similar enough to Ursa's minus certain tweaks like the addition of a cape and stuff but it seems the full body black suits are still at play in this film as it was in SupermanII. I was hoping for... That COULD also possibly be a mo-cap suit. Who knows...

I get the ones in SupermanII wore more of a disco outfit look but and I get these are more battle-armor ready but I'm standing by my original point- there are similarities. Look closely at these pictures...both have the long-legged boots and they are both wearing full-body black suits. The main thing is, Faora's suit seems like Ursa's suit but tougher and more armor-like and with a cape, as i stated in my original post- it has 'certain tweaks' to it. I'm sure the suits will look much better than the Donner disco suits of SupermanII. But I was hoping for something MORE than that. I wanted a Zod with big heavy armor that doesn't even make him recognizable as the typical Zod. I wanted him to wear something that makes him appear more "alien" to a degree. But I'm sure whatever Snyder cooks up I'll be fine with it. But hey- everyone's entitled to their own opinions right?

One of these suits would have been nice because it gives Snyder a REAL reason to use heavy CGI and it gives Superman a more alien-looking villain to battle for a change on the big screen. So far all we've had are Lex Luthor and Zod and Lex being human and Zod being Kryptonian neither one looks alien. I wanted Brainiac as the villain because it gives us a more alien-looking villain to be visually amazed with. I just want something that has the look that will make me go "Wow...ok this is definitely eye-popping" It's nice that Snyder is giving them all more of an armor look but I expected more, that's all. I'm not complaining so I don't want any angry-nerds attacking me for stating my opinion but as a FAN...I just expected something more. But like i said- whatever they do with Zod's suit I'm sure I'll like it.

So if Clark Kent is riding his bike and a diesel truck hits him- he better be hit-but have 0 degree of damage.

However, the more and more that I see about it the more I start see just a REMAKE and not a REBOOT sigh With sooo many great characters in the Superman/DC universe, why bring back characters that we've seen in two movies already? :-( Don't get me wrong, I'll be there for the midnight release, but they need to do something special to make Supes "relevant" again to the viewing public...

Batsuit= Soldier armor, high tech gadgets attached Supersuit= Kryptonian battle or travel suit Supes' and Zod's suits are identical, but different colors. Look at the back and the wrists

Just my honest opinion but i can sense a hoard of cbm geeks rampaging on me for that and reporting me for b.s I'm not saying the film itself looks low-budget because it doesn't. But just the mere idea of 2 human looking aliens fighting...meh. I hope they at least make Zod's CGI armor LOOK like real alien-armor.

And Zod can have 2 suits (do you remember mo-cap suit in smallville?) metropolis shooting is way too long until APRIL 2012!!!! DON'T JUDGE ALL THE MOVIE JUST FOR AN IMAGE!!!!!!

Every time we see Zod he's either disco- SupermanII or he's just some chump in army-like attire, heck he even wore the camouflage army pants on the show- Smallville. I'd like to see a more alien-styled Zod. I want to watch the film and actually BELIEVE he's an alien. So few Superman movies ever featured an alien villain and I'd like to think NOW is the time for them to do it. But we'll see. I'm optimistic. I DO however like this look too though not heavy on the armor like the other two i posted earlier- In War of the Supermen, Zod seemed totally badass

I simply stated my outlook on how i preferred to see Zod in the movie. What the [frick] are you talking about? So I guess no one's allowed their own opinions now on this site? Damn dude seriously. I'm not judging the movie- i had said numerous times in my comments that- I'M SURE I WILL LIKE THE SUIT REGARDLESS. But I just had other preferences, what's wrong with that?

Not saying I wanted a copy of Donner's movies. I love those but, time to move away. But, there's one thing essential to Supes IMHO and I said a million times here "I'm Clark, Superman is what I can do". Looks like he's going the "I'm Kal-El, Clark is just a mask" and I feel like that's the wrong move... Makes the "Kill Bill" speech that he sees us as week bumbling idiots right. and that's not what Superman is about.
