Summit Entertainment have issued the release dates for six of their upcoming movies today, and among them is the sequel to RED. While the brief synopsis tells us nothing we don't already know or could have figured out for ourselves, it looks like we now have yet another comic book movie to add to the already packed 2013.

RED 2 will be released on 8/2/13.

The sequel to the action-comedy hit RED, which reunites our team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.

I didn't enjoy the first movie and would be perfectly happy if this wasn't being made. Of course, with the likes of Iron Man 3, Man of Steel and THOR 2 also being released, there's plenty other CBM's to keep anyone who isn't exactly desperate for this movie entertained!

The first one was pretty damn good, not sure if a sequel is required, with no Morgan Freeman it will be not that good, but let's see
SuperSomething616 - 10/25/2011, 11:54 AM
If you didnt like the first movei and would rather this not be made...why bother reporting on it?

I'm glad its being made...the first one was good!!!

TyrannicalOverlord - 10/25/2011, 11:58 AM
The first one was a lot of fun. Looking forward tot he next.

@Lucaxmen- Freeman was good in his role but he certainly didn't carry the movie. Malcovich stole the show IMHO.
rbfn04 - 10/25/2011, 11:58 AM
Helen Mirren is in it? Cool! Great actress.
mrbadexample - 10/25/2011, 12:08 PM

LucasMend - 10/25/2011, 12:10 PM
@TyrannicalOverlord haha Yeah! Malcovich was fantastic on it. I loved both him and Freeman on it, Freeman character was really damn good too.
TyrannicalOverlord - 10/25/2011, 12:28 PM
Freeman is good just about any role you put him in!
joeker - 10/25/2011, 12:31 PM

I'm down with another Red but as Marvel72 said "what about the f*ckin flash."
CapFanLex005 - 10/25/2011, 1:21 PM
Red was really good, i have never read the book but the movie was well exicuted and fun.
BmanHall - 10/25/2011, 1:22 PM
Cool, bring it.
JWStubner - 10/25/2011, 1:43 PM
Awesome! Can't wait! I couldn't have enjoyed the first one more. It's was what going to the movies is all about and totally deserved it's BEST PICTURE nod at the Golden Globes. So 2013 looks like this so far if I'm not mistaken:

MARVEL: Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and (one has to believe) The Wolverine.

DC: Man of Steel and RED 2

Dark Horse: R.I.P.D.

is there anything I'm forgetting?

superbatspiderman - 10/25/2011, 3:24 PM
I thought the first one was a very fun movie but this sequel won't have Morgan Freeman in it because he died in the last movie. They should get someone to replace him.
nuck82 - 10/25/2011, 4:03 PM
thought the 1st one was funny as hell, hope they can keep it going again
Chewtoy - 10/25/2011, 4:51 PM
I still laugh that WB passed on making the first one to do "The Losers" and "Jonah Hex" instead, and it turns out to become the only non-Batman DC published comic film to earn a sequel.

GarbageJuicer - 10/25/2011, 7:06 PM
There were actually 4 superman sequels (if you also count the requel) to the first superman movie.
GarbageJuicer - 10/25/2011, 7:13 PM
Shit, I forgot. Swamp Thing also had a sequel too.
mattattack - 10/25/2011, 9:05 PM
This was better than Thor.
mattattack - 10/25/2011, 9:05 PM
Iron Man 2 wasn't fun either... Just dumb.
Megaloman - 10/26/2011, 5:55 AM
Loved the 1st movie and cannot wait for the sequel. the cast was just amazing and Malcovich was GREAT....plain and simple.
comicb00kguy - 10/26/2011, 6:43 AM
I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie and would definitely enjoy seeing a sequel.
WesleyGibson - 10/26/2011, 3:40 PM
This movie was so great. Glad that they are making another.
MetalGeek - 10/28/2011, 9:26 AM
I,m looking forward to the sequel!! As for freeman, did it show him actually die or just get shot?? Earlier in the movie it also made it appear he died. I may be wrong.
