Thanks to Comic Book Resources, we have a first look at Fear Itself #7.1 by writer Ed Brubaker and artist Butch Guice. The decision to kill Bucky in the pages of Fear Itself was not a popular one, while the event itself has been met with generally poor reviews from fans and critics alike.

it's just pointless to kill off characters when everyone knows they'll be back. As far as I know the only character who has stayed dead thus far is Mar-vell unless you count that cancerverse bullshit.

Oh and of course two cosmic badasses, Morg and Tyrant. They were among my faves in the early to mid 90s and of course they're still dead.

I definitely want him back. They should have just had him get seriously injured so Steve can be Cap again. Then later when he recovers have him take control of the secret avengers. Black ops stuff was always more his style anyway.

Hell yeah. I'm sure he'll be back soon though.

I'm not sure why they killed the guy...only thing i can think of is that they're going to bring him back and set him up as a super bad ass villain/traitor or something that they foreshadowed in the early Avengers books.

Captain America and Bucky is my favorite comic out right now too. Adding more character to Bucky. Pretty damn sure he's narrating that bitch too. Brubaker, Dreyko and Samnee are awesome. You guys should read it if you're not.

It was stupid killing Bucky. Brubaker spun a great yarn bringing him back and Marvel kills him off like that? Utter stupidity and lack of any ability to pull it off in a way that honored the character. If Marvel wants to kill someone off .....kill Aunt May! Her death would have an immediate and lasting impact on Spidey.

Bucky was a much more interesting Cap than Steve was/is...I really think they've not explored all stories with Bucky yet...so he'll be back...errr somehow...

This just shows the ignorance that is running Marvel these days. After forty years, Brubaker figures out how to do the impossible- bring back Bucky, and do it in a really interesting and plausible way. Now, Bucky has been 'killed' again, and for what? A cheap shock in the crappy event du jour. To me, that is just taking a huge elephant dump on one of the best Marvel stories I've read in the last decade.

Oh, I know. Bucky isn't really 'dead', and he'll be back soon enough. It's the idea that this 'death' story never should have happened, and never would have happened when men ran Marvel who had any love or respect for the characters or the readers.

This is why comic books are just pure shit these days and totally unoriginal because they’ve completely run out of good ideas. When in doubt, let’s just kill character off again and in six months we’ll bring back to life. Really ? Bucky died way back in the day and the master plan is to kill him off again? Marvel you suck! So lame. How many times are they gonna kill Bucky anyway? Thors been dead about three times as well. Sooooo friggin lame. The writers and editors of this medium have gotten so piss poor its hard to keep reading these books. Everyone has to die and be reborn and every city decimated at least once every two years. These guys don't know how to just write a good story anymore. They all need to fall back on these lame old cards they keep playing over and over and over again.
