HELLBOY Actor Doug Jones Joins ARROW As 'Deathbolt'

Though Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has appeared on Arrow, the titular Emerald Archer has yet to face off against an actual SUPERvillain over the course of the show's run. Well, that will change in the upcoming nineteenth episode (titled "Broken Arrow") when he takes on Deathbolt. This character -- real name is Jake Simmons -- was first introduced in All-Star Squadron #21 back in 1983, and had the power to manipulate electricity. According to IGN, in Arrow Simmons will "be a metahuman with the ability to harness and weaponize plasma energy."

Deathbolt will be played by Doug Jones, who should be well known around these parts as a frequent collaborator of Guillermo del Toro's, on projects such as Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth and The Strain. He also starred in Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer as the cosmic Marvel hero of the title.
