145 Reasons That Spider-Man 3 Sucks: Video

Spider-Man 3 was a painful experience for the majority of people who saw it, and despite the adage that time heals all wounds, apparently some people still haven't recovered, as this video demonstrates.

SPIDER-MAN 1 & 2 are all time classics, can never be touched!
skot888 - 11/18/2010, 11:20 AM
Yeah Sandman was the only thing in 3 worth while Venom sucked.
nuck82 - 11/18/2010, 11:23 AM
what the real Intruder said! lol
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 11/18/2010, 11:25 AM
even though this is old news there should only be one reason why this movie sucked. FAWKIN SONY!!! they pressured raimi to put venom in the movie. i love venom but why the hell did they put him in for 3 they should've waited for a spidey 4 or 5. they should have left it at GG 2 and sandman for spidey 3 then maybe leave a cliffhanger for the lizard for 4 then since jj jonah jameson's son is an astronaut he should've brought back the symbiote on a shuttle w/him to introduce black spidey and venom in 5. then if they had a 6th one introduce the sinister 6 respectively. but that's what happens when sony doesn't give a fawk about what the fans want. F you in the ass sony!!!!
Rango - 11/18/2010, 11:29 AM
2 was the best.
Creature - 11/18/2010, 11:33 AM
Funny, I don't remember seeing this film at all. The fights were bad ass gems, though.
WolvieCBM - 11/18/2010, 11:34 AM
Hahaha...So funny. Nice find @Ed!
MovieTheaterLad - 11/18/2010, 11:45 AM
Wow, this person must have alot of problems if the vast majority of reasons they hated this movie were ridiculously minuscule nitpickings.

OH GOD THEY RAISED THEIR HANDS AT THE SAME TIME AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

But whatever. I thought it was a great movie for it's abundance of great action scenes and character development.

Also, Wolvie09, do you by any chance have the full picture that you got that avatar from?
StrangerX - 11/18/2010, 11:48 AM
@ Intruder- Sandman was the best part about 3 his appearance was perfect imo
StuckInPanels - 11/18/2010, 11:51 AM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH THAT WAS GREAT!!! so many problems. I like to see many more of these
lowflams - 11/18/2010, 11:52 AM
I literally made this near exact list after i saw the movie.

Thank you for making this.

F^*K you for reminding me of this movie's miserable existance.
xXkryptoniteXx - 11/18/2010, 11:53 AM
It hurts and it's been along time healing from spiderman 3 and x3, let's hope the curse for a 3rd movie won't effect Dark knight
Remixxx - 11/18/2010, 11:54 AM
My main problem was Venom being treated as a 2nd tier character to Sandman. If they were going to treat the character that wasy then just have Sandman as the main villian. Either one of these characters could carry a movie by themselves. I always thought that if they were going to intro Venom it should have been spanned over 2 movies and in the third Venom would be the sole villian.
Watcher - 11/18/2010, 11:55 AM
!!! WHAT AN AWESOME VID!! LMAO! I totaly agree!

Great article ED!
BetaRayB - 11/18/2010, 11:56 AM
Classic! That movie is so painstakingly bad that I can't even bring myself to watch it for a laugh. That and X-Men 3. For shame!
dudemanjac - 11/18/2010, 11:58 AM
This fell victim to the same thing all these super hero movie. Stop raising the number of villains in the movie. The evidence is there and yet they keep doing it. Like with the first movie that got ppl to care about your franchise, take the time and dedicate a movie to ONE villain. The more you add the more it sucks.
Watcher - 11/18/2010, 12:01 PM
@ LEEE77: Maybe all those should have videos too!
ElBeaster - 11/18/2010, 12:18 PM
"Eric Forman." haha

There was so much wrong with this movie that taking out Venom wouldn't have saved it. There were horrible things like Venom, Gwen Stacy?, Emo Parker, and Hover Board Gobby.

This guys picked out a 145 things wrong with this movie and some may be nit picky, but he's right. All those little things add up. Raimi just completely screwed the pooch this time around.
ElBeaster - 11/18/2010, 12:20 PM
@Gambit

I love those movies so much, but I couldn't agree more. Mostly awful casting.

Hopefully the next stays truer to the characters
Shaman - 11/18/2010, 12:26 PM
I think they had a perfect casting choice for Sandman and the effects to pull him off nicely, but then they made him Ben's really real killer. FAIL!!! Venom was decent, the only problem was that Topher should have been Peter Parker all along while someone such as Dominic Purcell would have been a better fit for Eddie Brock. Oh and the disco dance i won't even get into. Of course Harry was a fail. Completely unnecessary for him to "hero up" or else, what would Spidey have done alone against the Sinister Six??? Seriously, they really didn't know how to flesh out Spider-man's character. It's like they based him off the pictures from the books but didn't read to know how he dealt with his foes every time. The spidey we know would have been smart enought to come out on top alone, like he does in the books. He didn't even seem to be the star of his own film in the third. He was merely... an "aspect". Mega Fail!
spiderneil - 11/18/2010, 12:32 PM
spider-man 2 is f**king awesome. imho on TDK is a better superhero movie and I watch SM2 way more than TDK.
spiderneil - 11/18/2010, 12:34 PM
it's also worth pointing out more than half those reason were nothing more than nit picks.
TDK (for example) is filled with daft moments if you go over it with a fine tooth comb.
spiderneil - 11/18/2010, 12:37 PM
lastly that youtube club actually reminded me how entertaining SM3 actually is and a lot of scenes in the youtube clip had me laughing (in a good way). I can definately watch SM3 now and be entertained by it.
cyclopstb - 11/18/2010, 12:55 PM
These reasons are lame. The "No Spider-Sense" and "Venom never call himself Venom" made sense.
Rhys - 11/18/2010, 12:56 PM
Hahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha, I laughed!
frigidgiantinthe716 - 11/18/2010, 12:58 PM
My favorite part in the movie is when the waitress asks Harry how the the pie is and he responds " sooo good"
Bandrews1 - 11/18/2010, 1:02 PM
Why does everybody make it seem like Spider-Man 3 was that bad, I still thought it was good for what it was, it ain't like it was the worst peace of shit out there, we all know that there are worst comic book movies than this.
deathoncredit - 11/18/2010, 1:09 PM
In my opinion, the problem with Spider-Man 3 was NOT that they included Venom, the problem was that Raimi bent Venom over a bench and raped him. The Sandman was a lame villain, and his "just a good intentioned man who fell on rough times" back story was tired. The movie could have been epic if they had done Venom right instead of putting the focus on Sandman and Peter having a really dull and embarrassing existential crisis.
Rhys - 11/18/2010, 1:14 PM
@Intruder,

Sandman is an awesome villain!! Better than that overrated punk Venom....

I liked his portrayal is SM3....could been ALLOT better, but it was decent. The 'sentimental father' thing sucked though...

Ryden - 11/18/2010, 1:15 PM
Spider-Man 3 wasn't THAT bad. The problrm was that it had to best the 2nd film which is very hard to do, and so they tried to put everything in it and it backfired. It wasn't even a BAD movie, it was just okay....but because it's Spider-Man nd because he first two were so good then it had to be great or it was shit. Well no, it was decent.
eleven59 - 11/18/2010, 1:22 PM
you know i seem to recall two-face only being in TDK near the end and for only a short time too... even worse: as though the joker needed a 2nd villain to help carry the movie... but everyone seems to overlook that when complaining about venom and SM3 in general...
Destroyer14 - 11/18/2010, 1:25 PM
Heh, I still think it's the best movie of all time.
XmutantX - 11/18/2010, 1:25 PM
sandman was the only thing worth watchin in this movie...the cgi used on him was baddass....EVERYTHING else was f**kin terrible!..id rather watch X3 than this pile of crap!
IronicMan - 11/18/2010, 1:26 PM
This is just nitpicking.
DukeAcureds - 11/18/2010, 1:30 PM
Actually, I thought that Spider-Man 3 was the best in the trilogy. If you look at those reasons, they are mostly continuity mistakes and cheesy humour or moments of sentimentality. The previous two Spider-Man movies had a lot more continuity mistakes, much cheesier bad humour and a hell of a lot more Frank Capra moments of sentimentality (actually that's an insult to Capra, Raimi's sentimentality is excruciating to watch and lacks any real emotion). And that first reason -Pete is a creepy dick in this scene? He's supposed to be. Apparantly, everybody missed the subtext of the movie. It's about pride. At the start Pete's ego is going overboard, he's taking everything for granted and getting wrapped up in himself too much. The symbiote costume represents the pride as a very creative symbolic device. Raimi didn't want Venom, but when he was forced to use him, he came out with some of his best work. Truly, Spider-Man 3 is Raimi's most serious and artistic work to date. And that includes both The Gift and A Simple Plan. Am I really the only person to see how ballsy and ahead of it's time this movie was?
skullboy - 11/18/2010, 1:37 PM
Yeah was there anything good about part 3? If people knew how Raimi was gonna do that movie, they shoulda knocked him out and then replace him.
GUNSMITH - 11/18/2010, 1:45 PM
IT WAS WATCHABLE, BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TWO..SECOND ONE WAS THE BEST.
DukeAcureds - 11/18/2010, 1:52 PM
I love how everybody is expecting a big superhero battle right at the end ('Cause it's a superhero film, right?) and then Raimi denies us this and instead Parker gets psychological closure and Sandman (who represents Spidey's guilt as the killer of Uncle Ben) dissipates. And everyone in the audience is like "This is bullshit! Where's my green power ranger villian! What do they think I am? Appreciative? Let's all agree to hate this piece of shit. I wanted to see Venoms muscles and all that McFarlane shit! We want style, dammit! Not substance!"
Live a little. Then watch this movie again.
DukeAcureds - 11/18/2010, 2:01 PM
Parker realises that he's a shit person. That we're all shit people. That what he is doing is hypocritical. When he forgives Sandman, he forgives himself. It's brilliant. It completely deconstructs the complex that has resulted in him creating the Spider-Man persona. That is why they shouldn't have made a fourth film. Parker has closure. Spider-Man is over. It's no longer about the responsibility of having spider powers, it's about the responsibility of having the power to hurt people and the responsibility of owning a consciousness.
KeithM - 11/18/2010, 2:04 PM
Only 145?
KeithM - 11/18/2010, 2:36 PM
@Duke: Did you remember to take your meds?

(or should we call you "Sam"?)
TheDarqueOne - 11/18/2010, 4:43 PM
I did not watch the video. People nickpicking a film just bores me to death.

But I do have to at least say something to DukeAcureds. Something along the lines of very, very well said. Pointless here, but well done anyway. Kudos to those brave souls who admitted liking Spider-Man III. Hard to post in the torrents of hate that appear far too often here but I salute your bravery.

Oh, and I do love Spider-Man III myself. Comic book action from start to finish. Flaws? Sure but they just don't matter to me.
HULK2099 - 11/18/2010, 5:24 PM
O__O
jjmeylar - 11/18/2010, 5:32 PM
@Lee: War-Zone and Elektra were entertaining so please do NOT liken them to this piece of shit film.
flames809 - 11/18/2010, 5:35 PM
When I saw the movie in the theater and everyone I asked about the movie they all said the something and it was it was cool.
SuspenseSmith - 11/18/2010, 5:46 PM
I hated Spider-Man 3, but this vid was poorly done and very nit picky. I think it was harder to sit through than the movie itself. Especially since the fact that he keeps getting Eddie Brock's last name wrong. Who the frick is Formann? Also the text comes up too fast. I had to pause it every two seconds. If you're gonna do a vid like this, do it good so it's fun to watch and not just some guy bitching about a bad movie.

Rifftrax, Nostalgia Critic, and Red Letter Media know how to tear apart a bad movie and make it enjoyable.
dancingmonkey08 - 11/18/2010, 5:50 PM
my god, is there actually people sticking up for Spider-Man 3, give it up fellas

And even though I loved the video, the guy could have shortened it down to 100, some of those points were silly little nitpicks but the rest of them had very good points to why Spider-Man 3 sucked EXCEPT for the complaint about Bruce Campbell, I loved his cameo, it meant the movie wasnt a complete waste of my time. The buzzer scene was hilarious too

And the one about Peter having no Spidey-sense when Harry attacks makes sense because wasnt the Goblin able to dull the Spidey-sense in the comics so that is that explained

the eyebrow acting point made me laugh and the continuous reasons #76 to 78 made laugh, it was so atrocious

Also, the news reporter shit was very annoying but I wont speak ill of the deceased actress, she was just doing her job. The whole Venom not being called Venom thing was a stupid complaint, its supposed to be a realistic world, unlike the comics, not everyone was given super-villain names straightaway. This was only done to the other villains in the trilogy because the Daily Bugle came up with super-villain names for their news stories. Venom didnt appear until the near the end so the Daily Bugle never had time to call him Venom

the whole sliding back his Venom face and the BLOODY TWIST DANCING scene piss me off though. Loved the comment about the symbiote landing right next to the one person on the planet who has super-powers

But I still stand by what I think, there shouldnt be a reboot. It should have been a re-cast continuation of the Spider-Man trilogy that retconned the more stupid elements of Spider-Man 3. A reboot was not needed, it wasnt a movie as bad as Batman & Robin

nice one for posting the video Ed
dancingmonkey08 - 11/18/2010, 5:59 PM
@SuspenseSmith
I dont know if you are joking or not about the Forman thing but the whole point of the guy who made the video was that Eddie Brock was played by Topher Grace who portrayed a character named Eric Forman in a comedy called "That 70s Show". But the guy was trying to say that when you think of Eddie Brock, you dont think of weak annoying little Eric Forman from "Thats 70s show", you think of someone else the complete opposite (unless you are Sam Raimi who is an idiot)

oh and as for Spider-Man 3 itself, it would have been better if they had stuck with the angry Peter that shouted at his landlord. There should have been no Gwen, no Sandman plot, no dancing. The movie should have been the basic plot of Spidey 1 again with Spidey vs. Goblin but as Peter would have known Goblin's true identity this time around, he would have been trying to talk Harry round but the Goblin formula would be impairing Harry's judgement & he wouldn’t listen. There could have been a theme of substance abuse, of how the Goblin formula was influencing Harry and the symbiote was influencing Peter like drugs and alcohol influence people's behaviour. Peter could have gotten rid of the symbiote and it could have latched on to Eddie. Then the rest of the movie could have had Harry and Venom work together to take down Spidey. Harry would overcome the Goblin formula and redeemed himself, leading to the actual Spidey 3 ending (but this time the symbiote disappearing before Spidey could kill it)
HavocT - 11/18/2010, 6:20 PM
Wow... 95% of those reasons were bs. I liked the movie, I didn't think it was perfect, but I liked it.
SuspenseSmith - 11/18/2010, 6:30 PM
lol never watched that 70's show. I refused to. I guess I get the Formann thing now. But when I found out Topher was playing my favorite comic book character, I was like WTF! GTFO! Hate it hate it hate it. Just for that I despise this movie. Venom was rushed and miscast, the emo parker was just cheesy. I heard it was going to be all dark, but it's totally not. Dark Knight is dark. Prince Caspian is "dark." Temple of Doom is dark. Spider-Man 3 is stinky cheese.

Star Wars Prequels, Spider-Man 3, Transformers 2, X-Men 3, Eragon, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are movies make me wish I had amnesia.
