JAMES BOND: 007 to Open the 2012 Olympics in London?

It reads like an April Fool's Joke, but London's The Sun is reporting that Daniel Craig as James will actually be kicking off the 2012 Olympics in England, at the request of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.

The idea is that Daniel Craig will play 0007 for director Danny Boyle in the short film. Says The Sun, "She [Queen Elizabeth] asked him into Buckingham Palace to film spectacular scenes as 007 for London's sporting extravaganza. In the film, he arrives by Royal Appointment to be told his latest mission is to launch the Games. Her Majesty may even make a cameo appearance but the Palace is keeping details a secret.

"A billion people watching on TV around the world will see Bond getting his instructions before he is taken by helicopter to parachute into the Olympic stadium in Stratford, East London," the story continues. Daniel, 44, and a film crew headed by Trainspotting director Danny Boyle were given unprecedented access to The Queen's private rooms on Tuesday. Danny, creative director of the opening ceremony, has chosen to make MI6 agent Bond a key part of the spectacle which will kick-start the Olympics... 'They wanted the most iconic British film character inside the building most associated with London and with the monarch —and they got it," a source noted.
Things kick off on July 27th. For more, follow the link.

This sounds great to me. Bond is one of the three Brits I actually respect.

This actually sounds really cool! I wonder if Judi Dench will cameo as M and get the orders from the queen directly

I just checked TheSun.co.uk & it is a real story apparently. But I hope they are lying (Which they often do) cos this sounds very cringe-worthy.
SuperDude001 - 4/1/2012, 8:35 AM

@Netman0007 James Bond, Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, Robin Hood, King Arthur, Willy Wonka, Scrooge, Mr Bean, Mary Poppins, every Shakespearean character, every character appearing in the works of Agatha Christie, everyone from the Lord of the Rings, Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Sweeney Todd, Oliver... I'm sure there are more.

This movie is going to be great. Skyfall has some great actors in it. This movie has the potential to be one of the best Bond movies off all time. This will have some great villians.

Am i the onyl one who thought QOS was an entertaining movie? Wasn't as good as Casino Royale (a great intro for Craig) but was certainly good. I like Craig as Bond.
MovieMaster - 4/1/2012, 12:05 PM
@NetMan0007- We also have the current Batman, Spider-Man and Superman. And every good actor/actress and director currently working in Hollywood.

I think they're going to come out about the unicorns spanglish. We've been breeding them for awhile now and the economy needs the boost.

Just don't mention the dragons for God's sake.

Ha ha, that would be awesome if this was real.

I'm not sure how good James Bond would be at opening for the 2012 Olympics, but I know he's good at closing with the ladies. :P
