CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Is The Most Important Lead-In For AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Brothers and co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo discuss their upcoming film, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" with the Huffington Post and state that the events of their film are the most important in terms of heading into "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Said Joe Russo, "There's a very strong connection in the narrative between the events of the end of "Avengers" that drive this film -- and there's a very strong hand off to "Avengers 2" at the end of this movie. And Kevin Feige's whole thing is that this is the biggest bridge of all of Phase 2 movies; it really is. It does involve the most amount of Avengers of any of the films in Phase 2, and it has sort of a, you know, there's a very big shift in the universe at the end of this movie."

An interesting development/revelation. In terms of headcount, the film boasts the most number of Avengers team members in Captain America, Falcon and Black Widow. And who knows where the Winter Soldier's loyalties may lie by the time the film's closing credits roll.

For a while, many assumed "Thor: The Dark World" or "Guardians of the Galaxy" would be the most important film leading up to "The Avengers 2" as it was thought that Thanos would be the primary antagonist. But alas, it's Ultron and the events that unfold in "The Winter Soldier" will echo the loudest within the confines of the "Age of Ultron."

Well Whedon said A: AoU would be more grounded, and this'll be the most grounded solo film. Guess this makes sense.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 7/21/2013, 10:58 AM
SUH-WEEEEEETTT!!!!!! :D
the1egend1ives - 7/21/2013, 10:58 AM
Captain America: TWS will introduce us to Hank Pym and his Ultron robots that will basically act as a workforce for SHIELD, just like in Avengers: EMH. Something's going to happen during the Winter Soldier's attack on the Helicarrier that's going to corrupt one of the robots.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 7/21/2013, 11:00 AM
Definitely interesting to see how CA: TWS leads, or bridges, into A: AoU.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 7/21/2013, 11:03 AM
@the1egend1ives - That could be it. Interesting theory. At least that way we can already establish Pym and his Ultron creations in the MCU. Then with the Ant-Man film, it'll play out as an origin story of Pym and Wasp and have it end to where we last saw Pym, which is during the events of CA: TWS, or perhaps a bit before those events.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 7/21/2013, 11:09 AM
@MindRiot - I guess that is he thing to keep in mind for this film.

But I am nonetheless excited for this CBM. ;)
FOOM - 7/21/2013, 11:10 AM
Hope Pym works for Shield.

TankD - 7/21/2013, 11:23 AM
@the1egend1ives guess you didnt see the article saying Pym will have nothing to do with the origin of Ultron.
WhiteBolt - 7/21/2013, 11:29 AM
So, will SHIELD be the ones to create Ultron since Pym won't be in Avengers 2?
Space - 7/21/2013, 11:32 AM
look at the other article on Main. No Hank Pym says Joss.
PanochaLibre - 7/21/2013, 11:40 AM
@Gunsmith, I like your passion kid, but please take of the all caps lock. Otherwise people feel like you masturbate a lot.

@MartianAbominationClone

What do you mean very interesting?
Omarvls - 7/21/2013, 11:44 AM
@StrangerX

Just keep Armie Hammer out of World's Finest I don't want him anywhere near that film
Berserk - 7/21/2013, 11:45 AM
Nonetheless, Thanos will have a huge build-up. The last Cap movie had a huge hand-off to The Avengers too.
Dandy - 7/21/2013, 11:45 AM
Wasn't Captain America: The First Avengers also the most important factor in Avengers as well?

Well......I guess Thor introduced the villain so maybe not.
thewonderer - 7/21/2013, 11:47 AM
Sounds like Iron Man 2.

I wanted Captain America. Not [frick]ing Black Widow. Hawkeye would've even been cool.

Damn
DonJuanMarvel - 7/21/2013, 11:51 AM
Any word on when all this footage is hitting the net??
Newbus - 7/21/2013, 11:56 AM

Marveloverdc - 7/21/2013, 12:10 PM
I knew it!! Been saying since the news came out the LMD in captain America will lead up to ultron. Coulson is one and will become the vision too!! Does this mean hank is already cast then?? Wasn't the Lone Ranger seen on set??? ;) ;)
TheAbaryMan369 - 7/21/2013, 12:15 PM
Well, my expectations for Avengers: Age of Ultron just dropped significantly... No Hank Pym!?! WTF Marvel! First Trevor Slattery now this!?!
STOP RUINING MARVEL'S GREATEST VILLAINS!!!!!!!
Jollem - 7/21/2013, 12:19 PM
i hope they don't forget about red skull
Jimbobatpool93 - 7/21/2013, 12:22 PM
wonder if Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will Tie into Age OF ULTRON.
Jollem - 7/21/2013, 12:28 PM
@SlaveMasterFlexXx - i think marvel studios wants to lock away the marvel knights, for they are cooler and have always had more popularity than the avengers?
TheBaroness89 - 7/21/2013, 12:29 PM
How is this a surprise ? Whedon said looooooooonnnngggg ago Thanos is being saved for the finale and A2 would be more personal. When its all said and done Iron Man 3 will be a different film to many detractors. Some of us already knew Iron Man 3 was a great set up to phase 2. Cap 2 always felt like it was going to be Avengers 1.5
TheAbomination - 7/21/2013, 12:34 PM
Ultron's coming. That's all that matters.
Praetorian - 7/21/2013, 12:35 PM
They should start thing in lesser (more antihero) characters into their movies. Like Doctor Strange 2 could feature Ghost Rider or Blade. Captain America 3 could feature the Punisher. Daredevil could be in the Agents of Shield TV show
ekrolo2 - 7/21/2013, 12:36 PM
I cant wait for the Red, White and Blue Power Ranger: The Winter Soldier!!!
SnapperCarr - 7/21/2013, 12:54 PM
@Jimbo probably not
Muaddib13 - 7/21/2013, 12:59 PM
Tony Stark will probably retire and help Shield create Ultron as a replacement for Iron Man, something goes wrong with Ultron which brings Tony out of retirement. Somewhere along the line Vision(Vin Diesel) will be created. Diesel might also be the voice for Ultron too.
