'SUPERNATURAL' Spinoff Receives Greenlight

The CW is reportedly committed to a spinoff of its scifi drama which stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. Also, the season 9 premiere for "Supernatural" has moved up a week to October 8th. Fans are already clamoring for Felicia Day to star in the spinoff.

With the announcement of The CW committing to a backdoor pilot for a spinoff of the Winchester-saga known as "Supernatural," fans are already calling for the show to star Felicia Day's Charlie Bradbury. A spinoff series has been in development for quite some time but the show is rumored to be entering its last days with season 10 thought to be its last hurrah. The backdoor pilot will be written by "Supernatural" supervising producer Andrew Dabb. The only details revealed thus far is that the show will be firmly set in the city of Chicago as opposed to the cross country exploits of the Winchester brothers.

Would you "Supernatural" fans want the series to star geek-favorite Day or introduce someone knew to the hunter-monster undercover war?

I thought SPN was on its last leg... I know it has a loyal fanbase, but it's small. I don't know how CW would think a SPN spinoff would be financially viable. They're already taking a gamble with The Vampire Diaries' spinoff The Originals.

I'm betting the spin-off will be based on that hunter team of kids they set up this past season. I don't see Felicia being the star.

Dingdingding. This is most likely. What I would prefer is a cass or garth spin off. Felicia would be good also.

But her characters spinoff would lead to a lot of girl on girl action...

I'd have Sam and Dean cameo a few times a season

I'm not sure about this: Supernatural has rather obviously been rummaging around with no idea what to do for the past four seasons or so. Granted, part of that is that they graduated the Winchesters out of fighting "regular monsters" and into fighting angels and demons pretty fast (and when you've done Judeo-Christian Armageddon, there aren't many ways to go bigger), but the point stands that after ten seasons the show is obviously running on fumes and rehashed elements from earlier seasons.

Why make a spin-off? Even if we're starting from square one with two younger hunters who HAVEN'T already beaten the literal devil and COULD conceivably be threatened by monsters-of-the-week... we've had a lot of seasons in this world, nearly half of which were comprised of nobody knowing what the [frick] to do next. Not exactly a universe so chock full of possibilities it NEEDS more time and space.

Honestly, Felicia Day is not a strong enough actress to carry her own series. There's a reason that 'The Guild' is only on the web.

I wish this show would never end... Or at least end when the Winchesters decide they wanna move on to something else.

Am I the only one who thinks that her and her character are very annoying? I liked her on Eureka cos her character worked on that show. Over here, that whole geek chick cliche is just irritating.

Supernatural is one of their top rated shows, that is why it is getting a spin off. The spin off might be that Jewish guy and his Golem. Or maybe since Castiel is now human and stuck on earth he might become a private detective in Chicago that specializes in the paranormal that could be interesting.

I would only support it if it was made up of the support characters. I mean Garth and co should get their own series.

Um... it's already been confirmed by several sources, the president of the CW and producers that the spin-off will star completely new characters who haven't been introduced yet. Unless they're outright lying, Felicia Day won't be starring. Also, the president at the CW said today that he wants the show to continue as long as there are stories to tell. He's a big fan and came out to Carry On My Wayward Son at CW's Television Critics Association panel today.

Damn, the CW is going spin-off crazy! lol first vampire diaries has originals, than supernatural gets this spin-off, and now arrow is getting its own flash show, wow. I'm not gonna lie, CW ain't HBO but you have to respect how much they care about their shows and fan bases. I can't think of a single time they threatened to cancel a fan favorite show of thiers. They really support they're content no matter what. I mean look at Smallville, 10 seasons. Supernatural is running on 10 seasons. All their shows have great track records and no hasty cancelations. Can you imagine if Firefly or TSCC's was on this channel? lol they'd probably still be on for one...

Another example of the small but very vocal fanboys. The studios believe the vocal minority speaks for all fans and it always bites them in the ass but they never learn. This goes for black panther fans as well.

This could be good. I would rather have a Men of Letters spin off. A John Winchester spin off would be cool too. Ghostfacers would be hilarious and fun and I still want them to show up on the show again.

Supernatural needs to expand. This is one of the best shows to come on TV.their stories are infinite. They use many fairy tales, folk stories, bible stories, etc. it can go another 10 I think. Stuff the, they've run out of stories.

ComicFan523 - 7/30/2013, 9:29 PM
Charlie would be a good side kick for a spin off but definitely not the lead, maybe introduce a new hunter to be the main character. I keep on saying it but they need to bring back Gabriel too, maybe find a way to get him in this thing. Anyway, I'm glad they supposedly have a plan for when to end Supernatural. The last season was great but seasons six and seven were really mediocre. End it on a high note with a good story.

After watching the new hansel and gretel film, although it doesnt challenge on an intellectuall level it was a great switch your brain off at the door film but I think theres potential to open up the movie into a series with them hunting more demons and monsters. Felicia day and maybe Jenson Eckles could take up the lead roles. I could be a good replacement for when supernatural has its last day.

"Producer Robert Singer adds of the spinoff: "We’ll have main characters who are both human and monsters," along with “families of monsters and families of hunters... It’s much more of an ensemble than Supernatural.""

I've also read that it will focus on an entirely new cast, as well as being set in Chicago.

I always thought it would be a good idea to make a spinoff called Supernatural: Hunters Log where they have a different story from a different hunter every episode

As much as I am a fan of the show, I hope they do it justice in Season 10. The only way it can end is with Dean dying for good and Sam getting his normal life.

Or both die.

thats funny i thought supernatural was one of the strongest shows on cw along with arrow. ive watched it since day one and its always been good at least to me. everyone has different taste some people like chocolate ice cream some like vanilla i rather have dulce de leche. i also think felicia is super cute and like her character although i might like new characters to. finally redhead girls are hot.
