“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” is an upcoming Capcom sanctioned live-action webseries from the creative team behind the noteworthy web short, “Street Fighter: Legacy.” The series will explore the early days of the two primary "Street Fighter" stars Ryu and Ken and the story of their tutelage under their master Gouken, who must decide how much of the ‘Asatsuken (Assassin’s Fist)’to pass down to his two pupils after experiencing first hand the ill-effects that befell his younger brother, Akuma. Gouken struggles with whether his two young trainees Ken and Ryu will split along the path of light and darkness just as he and Akuma did under their master, Goutetsu. In addition to portraying Akuma, Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum) will direct from a script he co-wrote with Ken actor Christian Howard. Togo Igawa (Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) will portray grandmaster Goutetsu. Mike Moh (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight ) plays Ryu. Hal Yamanouchi who portrayed the elderly Yashida in "The Wolverine" will portray Senzo while actor Mark Killeen, who had a brief but memorable guest spot on "Game of Thrones" as Mero has an unspecified role. Filming aims to be wrapped by the end of August for an early 2014 release. Courtesy of CVG we have our first look at Goutetsu and Senzo—

Huge Street Fighter fan so i'll give this a watvh.
jamesbrando3 - 7/30/2013, 5:09 PM
This looks good, giving me that Kevin Tancheron vibe. If they follow the MK pattern with this we may actually get a decent Street Fighter film someday...
ScabbyJ - 7/30/2013, 5:18 PM
Once upon a time I was a huge fan of the street fighter mythology, but part 4 ended that. Is Senzo from part 4 or part 1?
HeadPool420 - 7/30/2013, 5:30 PM
Loved the game and the animated movies! The live action short was well done can't wait for this!
Havensent - 7/30/2013, 5:31 PM

Love these guys! You can tell they actually get it. Looking forward to this very much.
PeterDarker - 7/30/2013, 6:02 PM
@Cipher, I loved the fight between Ryu and Fei Long in that movie. Think I'll watch the whole thing right now.
Jer3miah - 7/30/2013, 6:07 PM
Damn, this is looking REAL good. I'm getting amped for this one for real.
GoILL - 7/30/2013, 6:11 PM
@cipher

That is a great fight. I really like the opening fight between Ryu and Sagat and the Ryu Fei Long fight PeterDarker mentioned as well. That soundtrack is pretty dope too.

marvel72 - 7/30/2013, 6:24 PM
whatever happened to the street fighter vs tekken game,which used the tekken game engine?
GoILL - 7/30/2013, 6:27 PM
@cipher

Yeah man I loved seeing that on screen after reading about it for a few years prior, kinda pisses me off that they changed things in the story to accommodate the whole Evil Ryu character.
GoILL - 7/30/2013, 6:32 PM
@marvel72

They showed off some in progress screens maybe a year and a half ago but news has pretty much been non existent since. I think they will probably just save it for PS4 and Xbox One now.
DioFoRio - 7/30/2013, 6:45 PM
lmao@Ciph. I'm stoked for this. The look is right.
marvel72 - 7/30/2013, 6:48 PM
@ goill

GoILL - 7/30/2013, 6:52 PM
@marvel72

Definitely, I want Street Fighter 5 and maybe a new Marvel vs Capcom as well.
chrispunk28 - 7/30/2013, 6:55 PM
this movie NEEDS a sequel....Hahaha just joking this movie is the worst thing that ever happened to street fighter
MatchesMalone1989 - 7/30/2013, 7:34 PM
goutetsu looks perfect. this looks really good.
WruceBayne - 7/30/2013, 8:10 PM
This looks promising. I thought Street Fighter: Legacy was just one fight scene. Is it a short or was it just one fight scene?
DioFoRio - 7/30/2013, 8:37 PM
it's a fight scene that got them the gig I think. but don't quote me boy cuz I aint said scrit.
DurtyTalynt - 7/30/2013, 9:49 PM
Great news! Legend of chun li looked like a madtv skit. Gonna be nice to see actual martial artists playing martial arts characters. Definitely looking forward to season two of mortal kombat
AshleyJWilliams - 7/30/2013, 10:06 PM
You all just wait this series is gonna blow Mortal Kombat Legacy out of the water... Cause these guys are true fans who are sticking super close to the source material from story to fighting style they are doing it perfectly!
SugarYumYum - 7/30/2013, 11:14 PM
Ah, The Legend of Chun Li I remember that late night run to the abortion clinic. Never got over the fact Chun Li got whiter as she grew up.

Not really a SF fan (always been more into Tekken and MK) but Legacy was awesome so I'll be keeping an eye on this.
SageMode - 7/30/2013, 11:27 PM
That STREET FIGHTER 2: THE ANIMATED MOVIE was so badass. The memories.
Luminus - 7/31/2013, 12:50 AM
Wait a minute...

Did someone steal a bad idea from someone else's bad idea? Hmmm.

Anyway, I can't wait for this short. Street Fighter hasn't been done right since that first animated movie and this series (which, if you haven't seen, you better get to it!):

StrangerX - 7/31/2013, 4:39 AM
No [frick]ing way. I def will be watching this
Dedpool - 7/31/2013, 5:43 AM
SF: Legacy was sick, and with actual Capcom money behind it, "Assassin's Fist" could be as good as MK:Legacy!! Can't wait.
subzero1077 - 7/31/2013, 6:16 AM
Can't be worse than The Legend of Chun Li.
Minghagz - 7/31/2013, 9:24 AM
REALLY REALLY looking forward to this. I've been waiting for something like this for a loooong time.
DeadPoolLax - 7/31/2013, 2:40 PM
nice. just like mortal kombat, hopefully this web series can lead to a movie.

cant wait
dotcotton - 9/19/2013, 5:05 AM
I really do not think the series will deliver, lots of posts from reliable sources all over the internet speaking about the fact they had no fight choreographer on the film set in Bulgaria and hired a D.O.P and Cameraman that have no experience in shooting action full stop, One Japanese source suggests that this was not made for the fans but rather to boost the ever growing ego of the vile Joey Ansah, I think this becomes clear when you see nearly all promo photos and videos feature him and not the main stars, But Wait, Whats that? Oh i have just found out now Joey casted himself as Akuma instead of allowing a real actor to play the role and spending the money on a name (EGO). If the rumours are true then the Producer re-mortgaged her house to help finance the project. A UK Source revealed the producers ran out of finance and based on this issue have been trying to sucker in a sound design team to work for free on the post production while a reliable U.S. Source revealed Machinima financed the series which is now in post production, They were clearly not as generous with there finance on this as they were with Mortal Kombat if the poor producer had to put her home on the line :-/
One Japanese source reveals that one of the main fights was so badly shot that they have had to re shoot the whole thing but back in the United Kingdom, Sunny Bulgaria/Stormy United Kingdom? How Does that work?
