YouTube's Geek Week gets an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast introduction from series star Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson). Did he just hint that Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) is more dangerous than Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)?

In the latest character spotlight, Chloe Bennet's Skye becomes the center of attention. Joss Whedon's television history shows a tendency to focus on one specific female protagonist and she's a likely contender for that position. Or will it be Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) or Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge)? Again, while all these ladies will get their chance to shine, chances are we'll be focusing in on one of them, which one has piqued your interest the most?

"Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first television series, is from executive producers Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) also serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television."

everyone is watching the Thor 2 trailer.
MarkJulian - 8/7/2013, 6:27 AM
It was pretty blah in my opinion.
SnapperCarr - 8/7/2013, 6:27 AM
Skye is pretty hot. I'd tap that.

I wish Clark was a better actor

@frova
The fact he hides being a fanboy is good acting.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:33 AM
The more I see the more I think it looks very generic and bland.
They shoulda just brought back Alphas.
JerBear - 8/7/2013, 6:43 AM
The one I've been waiting for!!! <3 Chloe
Dedpool - 8/7/2013, 6:44 AM
Should be a good time!

@CherryBomb
It looks bland because they're not revealing any of the juicy secrets of the pilot. This very much resembles the Avengers trailer IMO. The movie was way more exciting that the trailers could ever show.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:57 AM
@Jer it's not that, there's many shows that have had unrevealing trailers but have the content to make me wanna watch.

The characters themselves don't seem engaging, they seem like caricatures and cliches, Ming Na is the only character I can see myself liking.

It's all just first impressions. Ill definitely watch the pilot though.
Axeium - 8/7/2013, 7:52 AM
I agree with Cherry I just can't for the life of me get excited about this show. I'll still watch the pilot and hopefully gain interest, but as of now it's a resounding meh to me.

I don't know why people like Alphas so much.

Every episode made me want to shoot the ADD kid in the face.

There are a lot of themes that this show can explore to bring out the human aspect of the MCU. I'm disappointed in the way they've been treated so far as cannon fodder. If you're not a scientist or in the military or connected to some corporation you're getting blown up. I need a combo of human peril, superheroic saves and regular people uniting behind the heroes and even assisting before I get that true Marvel feel in the MCU.

@frova

Go see "The To Do List" & "Much Ado About Nothing" and then comment on Clark Greggs acting ablilities.
TheSisko - 8/7/2013, 8:23 AM
Alphas was a poor man's Heroes. SHIELD looks great though, I like that they are not showing us everything in these teasers. I hate when shows do that.
Deadpoolwithcomicsans - 8/7/2013, 8:27 AM
This show doesn't appeal to me because it is not ONLY milking the MCU, but it looks like a Joss Whedon easter egg hunt instead of a MARVEL one . I mean really? Name one thing OTHER than Joss Whedon that this show has going for it.

When I watch a MARVEL show, all I want is the characters from the comics being brought to the screen in all of their glory. Instead, the genius known as Jeph Loeb gives me a stereotypical secret agent show while bringing the character who's death was noble and awesome (and the only thing that made me care about him as a character) , BACK TO LIFE!

I couldn't have an X-men Animated series, I couldn't have had a Deadpool animated series. I had to settle for this bullshit.

Complain, complain... that's all I hear on CBM these days. Even on good days. It's hilarious.
Tainted87 - 8/7/2013, 8:42 AM
Hmmmm, I think Coulson is going to be the closest we're getting to 616 Nick Fury. I'm down with that.

I kind of wish we'd see more stuff, rather than be told about it. I like the Skye spotlight though.
GliderMan - 8/7/2013, 8:55 AM
Loki cameo or gtfo
Berserker187 - 8/7/2013, 10:16 AM
Heres hoping this show doesnt blow. Really hoping!
xstryker - 8/7/2013, 10:26 AM
I'd rather they'd done Agents of Atlas. Or ANYTHING with actual Marvel characters! Clay Quatermain! Daisy Johnson! Dum Dum Duggan!

If I were running this show, the lineup would include Rick Jones, Sharon Carter, Clay Quartermain, Carol Danvers, Jimmy Woo, and Misty Knight. And Henry Peter Gyrich would act as an antagonistic bureaucrat.

Then I'd promo guest spots from Jim Hammond, Amadeus Cho, Molly Hayes, Colleen Wing, Brunhilda, Elsa Bloodstone, Daimon Hellstrom, Jack Russell, Leonard Samson, Jennifer Kale, and Scott Lang.

Surely if they think they can succeed with new characters, they could succeed just as well with existing ones!
3DWitchHunt - 8/7/2013, 11:44 AM
Ehh
Hope the show wins me over because as of now, it doesnt look very interesting

When this project was first announced I was like "[frick] YEAH!", then I was like "Wait a sec...this is TV........this is gonna suck!"
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 8/7/2013, 2:34 PM
i would love for Chloe Bennet to use my face as a bicycle seat
SnapperCarr - 8/7/2013, 7:42 PM
@xstryker Agents of Atlas would be awesome!
superbatspiderman - 8/8/2013, 6:55 PM
@Rothwilder - The kid on Alphas was not ADD he was autistic. That is kind of dickish to want to shoot an autistic kid. lol
