Gareth Evans directed one of the segments in V/H/S 2 which is why he was at last night's screening of the film at Frightfest, but he surprised audience members by bringing a clip from The Raid 2: Berandal. The clipped featured the aptly named Hammer Girl according to Twitch.

The clip we saw is from an action scene on a moving subway car: Hammer Girl against a bunch of guys in suits. The clip was only a few minutes long, but it was enough to see that not only have Evans and his crew maintained the freshness and brilliance of the first film, finding new and inventive ways to present action and martial arts, but they've gone above and beyond by exploring new spaces and (obviously) new characters.

Evans confirmed that the sequel picks up a mere two hours after the end of the first film but will span a total of four years. Based on this report, if you were surprised and thrilled by The Raid, expect more of the same in The Raid 2: Berandal.

thewonderer - 8/25/2013, 11:55 AM
The first one is one of the best action movies ever made hands down.

Watch it
TheRationalNerd - 8/25/2013, 11:56 AM
@SamM

You'll love it! The action is great! Sometimes it can be a little over the top but it puts a modern gloss on those old martial arts flicks we all probably grew up on! :D Check it out!
Kayo - 8/25/2013, 11:56 AM
the first one was awesome..........can not wait
xXkryptoniteXx - 8/25/2013, 12:13 PM
Dress and this movie is the same, hence why the movie didn't too well in the theaters. I had a couple of friends that didn't watch dress because of the similarities.
InfiniteMonkey - 8/25/2013, 12:15 PM
This is how Wolverine should have been in the scope of action and brutality.
All those ninjas and not a blood spilled.
The Raid is madness. Hollywood can only dream and then dream some more of making a movie like this.
gaikinger - 8/25/2013, 12:17 PM
He stole his first script from Dredd. Maybe this one will be more original since Dredd 2 script has yet to be written.
gaikinger - 8/25/2013, 12:19 PM
Dredd was infinitely better than The Raid. Raid was good for a silly martial arts film.
thewolfx - 8/25/2013, 12:20 PM
[frick] yes , raid was the shit!
ABLEE337 - 8/25/2013, 12:20 PM
Get this guy to direct an Iron Fist movie!
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/25/2013, 12:23 PM
The raid is one of those rare films that makes you say things out loud due to pure excited awesomeness. I think I said "OH SHIT" to pretty much every kick punch ect that was displayed.
Tevii - 8/25/2013, 12:23 PM
gaikinger- are you just trolling? dredd came out long after The Raid. dredd is the obvious ripoff
Swiftsword777 - 8/25/2013, 12:25 PM
[frick] yea it's worth a watch. It is one if the best action flicks if the last 5 years.
CaptainAmerica31 - 8/25/2013, 12:27 PM
Is the raid a Hollywood film? Or is it Japanese?
thewonderer - 8/25/2013, 12:30 PM
gaikinger, The Raid came out LONG before Dredd. Stop trolling.

Spidey, The Raid is indonesian
gaikinger - 8/25/2013, 12:33 PM
According to Fact Check and other sources, the script for Dredd was written in 2008. The script was leaked online in2010. The Raid script was completely different up until the summer of 2010 when it changed to the Dredd inspired ( stolen ) script. Dredd production was much longer than low budget Raid production thus its earlier release. Hate to troll but facts are facts and I fgiggin loved Dredd.
Ceejay - 8/25/2013, 12:40 PM
@gaikinger - You poor soul, lol!
Gnyah123 - 8/25/2013, 12:41 PM
raid was the best action film of 2012 hands down
in terms of action/fighting
it blows avengers n TDKR out of the water
gaikinger - 8/25/2013, 12:47 PM
Gnyah123 I don't get the connection between comparing The Raid to CBM Batman franchise as they are totally different genres. Dredd of course was the best action film of 2012 and best CBM ever. Why is Raid even discussed on CBM?
gaikinger - 8/25/2013, 12:48 PM
Will troll for Dredd!
Ceejay - 8/25/2013, 12:53 PM
@Spidey31 - Neither, it's an Indonesian movie directed by a Welshman, Yes The Director comes from Wales, here in the UK.
Gnyah123 - 8/25/2013, 12:56 PM
yes i know its not a cbm and the action in this is totally different from TDKR and avengers
all im saying is...that in terms of action in MY EYES
this was the best action movie of 2012
Gnyah123 - 8/25/2013, 12:56 PM
also this is GOOD news cuz thats mean if footage was shown we are NOT to far away from getting a TEASER TRAILER
BboiBlack - 8/25/2013, 1:08 PM
everyone that comes down on michael bay for not focusing on story, have fun with this action romp
Ranger14 - 8/25/2013, 1:22 PM
Just an FYI, there is a Raid Redemption comic released prior to the film and if people are going to get technical, both films ripped off Bruce Lee's Game of Death. ;-)
marvel72 - 8/25/2013, 1:25 PM

BlueHawaiiSurfer - 8/25/2013, 2:01 PM
"will troll for Dread" Quote of the year...tbh. Not a better cause out there. Keep trolling my man...don't let them bring you down!!
breakUbatman - 8/25/2013, 2:05 PM
Actually there are some martial arts movie out there.

Recently watched S P L with Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung, very boring but what little action it had was great.

samster10001 - 8/25/2013, 2:33 PM
Loved both the raid and dredd. Two of the best action movies of the last decade or so. Still holdin out for that dredd sequel as well.
damntree - 8/25/2013, 2:38 PM
Incredibly boring.
marvel72 - 8/25/2013, 2:58 PM
@ ranger14

i don't think i've seen house of flying daggers.

@ theheat

i was blown away by ip man.

@ breakubatman

can't remember seeing either of them,i'll have to hunt them down.
SpikeHair - 8/25/2013, 3:28 PM
Can you guys stop [frick]ing comparing the Raid to Dredd, both film-makers even said that this was a happy coincedence and didn't even know the plot of the other. they were made at the exact same time. Dredd was just pushed back a few times. hell even compare those two to Die Hard cuz its the same thing too. this happens all the time ex
