Longtime Zack Snyder collaborator and Man of Steel producer Wesley Coller chatted with a few local Michigan news outlets on the eve of delivering the commencement speech at his alma matter, Eastern Michigan University. The conversation naturally touched on his involvement with the untitled, Batman vs Superman production, currently scheduled to kickoff filming in Michigan this February. Beginning with the online reaction to the Ben Affleck Batman casting, Coller told MLive, "Because we’ve historically done fan favorite fare – "Watchmen", we remade "Dawn of the Dead" – I’ve developed a pretty good perspective on this. Anything you do that’s culturally significant, or any time you deal with an iconic character or story, you’re going to hear responses from every possible perspective. So nothing surprises me anymore. If anything, that gauges the relevance of a property or character, and it’s invigorating to know people care that much. It inspires you to make the coolest version of the movie that you can. Ben is the perfect fit for Zack’s vision for this story."

On Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman appearing in the film, Coller added, "(My daughter’s) favorite book is this little Wonder Woman flip book. It has the lasso, the invisible plane, the bracelets – every page has an image she’s just in awe with. And something that’s become a reality, being a dad with a new daughter, is that I have a special place in my heart for the idea of a strong, empowered female superhero being out there." And on whether there's currently a plan in place to spinoff Gadot into her own, solo Wonder Woman movie after Batman vs Superman? "We’re super excited to have her in the film, it will be a ton of fun, but at the same time, we’ve got to stay focused on the film we’re working on now."

And how is Coller and co. taking the incredible amount of scrutiny and attention the film is receiving? He told the Detroit Free Press, "Not a day goes by that I don’t think wow, people are really on fire with that idea or that concept or that character. It makes me excited to do what I do. It also makes me think the responsibility is in our hands to make something cool and fun."

SonofBatman - 12/22/2013, 9:01 AM
@grif exactly this ain't even news.
charlie2094 - 12/22/2013, 9:04 AM
Can't wait for the film! Think it'll be fantastic, Affleck will be brilliant as Batman, can't wait to see how they handle Wonder Woman, obviously needs some updating and modernising

Can't imagine he was surprised by the reaction to Affleck's casting, considering how recent Bale was and how iconic Batman is, but think he'll nail the role
DrunkenPirateNukem - 12/22/2013, 9:04 AM
Yeah get rid of that plane... WW can fly
DraculaX - 12/22/2013, 9:05 AM
I can understand them having the lasso, but the invisible jet?
ALegendaryPanda - 12/22/2013, 9:05 AM
Cool!
Sumitsjc - 12/22/2013, 9:06 AM
Alright !!
Lhornbk - 12/22/2013, 9:07 AM
Okay, Avengers had an invisible, flying aircraft carrier, but WW having an invisible jet would be too corny? Ummm.....no, not if they do it right. Make it a stealth fighter, that becomes invisible in a way similar to the helicarrier, and it can work.
Fabius - 12/22/2013, 9:07 AM
Interesting... hope they will do fine. To have a good cast is one thing. The cast will act good enough is another thing. Now the most important will be a decent or good script. Is another thing too. So bit. I am respectfull of ben affleck but remember DD...so I little bit scare. Prefer to wait before talk negative. For gadot WW cast.is pretty interesting. An I trust CAvill is so great in MOS. So let s see....
AnitaDick - 12/22/2013, 9:08 AM
I don't care what anyone else says but BRING ON THE INVISIBLE JET!!!!
ShadowStar - 12/22/2013, 9:09 AM
@CalvinThelncredible I am hoping they have her fly, which hasn't been done except in the cartoon. I think it makes sense, but I have a feeling she is going to have an invisible Jet.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:09 AM
This guy said this: "We’re super excited to have her in the film, it will be a ton of fun, but at the same time, we’ve got to stay focused on the film we’re working on now." Regarding wonder woman spinoff, they should've stayed focus on developing superman more and should've been working on two or three dc solo films featuring a rebooted supernatural Batman, a amazonian war like film for wonder woman, and a small budget risk movie of cyborg with a cameo by superman to jumpstart things. Hey what do I know. Goodluck WB. Figure it out.
Fanmar16 - 12/22/2013, 9:13 AM
this film can be great or an epic disaster
TheBlackNerd - 12/22/2013, 9:14 AM
I think it would be better for her to steal a jet that is able to use camo (similar to the shield helicarrier) and it becomes her own way of transport around the world to handle global issues for herself. I could see that working but not Wonder Woman just sitting in mid air flying around...lol that would be very cheesy! lol
ReeferInferno - 12/22/2013, 9:15 AM
@LovinTheJodi
I'm sure it'll look amazing ;)
GliderMan - 12/22/2013, 9:19 AM
Wonder Woman movie or gtfo
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:20 AM
If wonder woman has an invisible jet, then the people behind her character(production team/director/writer) need to establish that wonder woman comes from a techno organic amazonian world and make us believe that the lasso is used for interrogation methods and the jet is used for long distance adventures with magic but we call it stealth. See this is why I'm very concerned about having one production team responsible for many origins. Someone else needs a fresh eye and focus on each individual. Then a writer/director can work off of those visions so it loosens the stress and tension of building this world by one person/one team.
CaptainAmerica31 - 12/22/2013, 9:20 AM
They better let Affleck direct a god damn batman movie. He actually is a really good fit too direct it.
batcheeks8 - 12/22/2013, 9:21 AM
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 12/22/2013, 9:23 AM
The invisible jet is badass. They had it in X-men and they had it (for the most part) in Avengers.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:24 AM
@blackjack your such a flip flopper. I'm sorry I have to call you out. In the past Ive shown you evidence the Dr. Strange was coming and you shot me down saying its not happening, but here you go with no evidence saying a solo wonder woman movie is happening. Lol. The folks I deal with round here. Yikkkkesss.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 12/22/2013, 9:24 AM
Just because she can fly, doesn't mean she can fly the speed of Superman. I am sure her plane can move faster than her.
ALmight - 12/22/2013, 9:30 AM
Coller and Snyder do have a history of messing up "fan favorite fare."
soforizo - 12/22/2013, 9:30 AM
So where were these tools when a THOR 2:TDW clip showed Malekith starting his Asgard attack with an invisible ship??? Where they mocking it with invisible posts? smh
Xuperthorman - 12/22/2013, 9:34 AM
I need trailer now!!!!!
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:34 AM
Once again, the stealth jet can work in xmen and avengers and Batman because the world they come from has technology!!!! You have to explain these things like Thors world had to be explained. Wonder Woman is coming from a world that we know from pages/tv/toons but not the movies. Is it possible the forego the amazon world just to fit in superman?!? We don't have answers, but I prefer a explaination of her coming from a world unknown to humans. A world where women are strong warriors, amazonian doctors, amazonian organic technicians and etc. to flesh wonder woman out. I'm sick of seeing prequels. We should be getting a solo film first instead of this hogwash multiple origin film and still building up a rookie superman.
MsDarkPhoenix - 12/22/2013, 9:35 AM
Invisible plane or gtfo!! If Marvel can make it work, DC can make it work too! It's Wonder Woman, she needs the invisible plane, the lasso and the bracelets just like Thor needs the Mjolnir and Captain needs the shield.
gambgel - 12/22/2013, 9:38 AM
did people forgot that the X-Men movies also had a jet that could turn invisible?
ALmight - 12/22/2013, 9:39 AM
@soforizo-Dark Elf technology, people don't tent to question things that don't claim to be grounded.
ALegendaryPanda - 12/22/2013, 9:39 AM
What's the point of an invisible jet if she can FLY?
soforizo - 12/22/2013, 9:40 AM
@TheRealRemyLebeau

And how much you know of this Wonder Woman's world? Oh yeah, nothing. So you speaking out of your ass again.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:42 AM
@sofo you and folks like you always feel this double standard thing is always occurring, but we seen Thors world. We know what can be plausible. If wonder woman is on earth already then you must question is she the amazonian warrior, does she have organic magic tech from her world, where does her power come from. These are the reasons stuffing multiple origins may cause issues.
soforizo - 12/22/2013, 9:44 AM
@ALmight

I'm well aware that people go easy on films that aren't grounded, that a being with Superman powers existing should already tell you that the universe of MOS isn't as grounded as Nolan's trilogy. Certainly, not enough to prohibit the existence of stealth tech.
QuestiontheAnswer - 12/22/2013, 9:44 AM
Wonder Woman movie will be a critical and commercial failure.
charlie2094 - 12/22/2013, 9:44 AM
Think the invisible jet could work, but don't really think they need it, not as a important as the bracelets of Lasso, which would be much easier to make work.

Sure a Wonder Woman solo film is in development, they've spoken before about how important it is to get her on screen and after cancelling Amazon, sure they're working on one...
DVonShakari - 12/22/2013, 9:45 AM
I think Gal would be great in the movie (not really, unless she bulks up like Amy Adams has suggested) but her biggest flaw is her ability to act....She may be a great supporting character but can she really be the lead in a Wonder Woman solo movie? Is her acting ability strong enough to do that? Wesley Coller didn't even want to get close to answering that question....
dckizzle - 12/22/2013, 9:47 AM
Maybe she will loose her power and she needs the jet to get back to amazon
TheRealRemyLebeau - 12/22/2013, 9:48 AM
@sofo you failed to read my comment when I said this:

Is it possible the forego the amazon world just to fit in superman?!? We don't have answers, but I prefer a explaination of her coming from a world unknown to humans.

WE..............YOU MUST HAVE SKIPPED THAT!!! WE DON'T HAVE ANSWERS!!!! Try explaining yourself better next time ;)
soforizo - 12/22/2013, 9:52 AM

@TheRealRemyLebeau

So what have you seen in MOS universe that would prohibit the existence of stealth technology? They showed freaking aliens for goodness' sake! We know little of it outside the events in Metropolis and Smallville in a short time window.

Anyways, I suggest that you wait for the movie to come before you start placing limits on a character whose adaptation we have no clue about.
