Ken Featured In New STREET FIGHTER: ASSASSIN'S FIST Image

The official twitter feed for Assassin's Fist is labeling this image "Alpha-phase Ken" meaning we should expect to see an older, more polished Ken at some point during the web series. The first trailer/teaser should be released soon.

Live-Action STREET FIGHTER Crowd Funded Campaign Announced

The story in Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist centers on the master of Ken and Ryu, Gouken, who himself trained under ‘Asatsuken (Assassin's Fist)' grandmaster Goutetsu. Also training under Goutetsu was the legendary Street Fighter villain, Akuma, who is Gouken's brother. In the web series Gouken reflects on how the Asatsuken sent he and his brother down conflicting paths of 'Light' and 'Dark' and whether he should pass along all of its secrets to Ken and Ryu. Will the same split that befell Gouken and Akuma occur with Ken and Ryu?

In addition to portraying Gōki/Akuma, Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum) served as director and co-wrote the script with Ken actor Christian Howard. Togo Igawa (Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) will portray grandmaster Goutetsu. Mike Moh (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight) plays Ryu. Hal Yamanouchi (The Wolverine) will portray Senzo. Akira Koieyama (Rush, 47 Ronin) plays Gouken. Mark Killeen (Game of Thrones) plays Ken's father.

Ken needs a "solo" movie
sameoldthing - 1/25/2014, 6:19 AM
Dude looks like an action figure.
Why is Ken white? I thought every single character that comes from Japanese media was Japanese?
UltimateSpidey - 1/25/2014, 6:24 AM
Ken masters is American
TheLight - 1/25/2014, 6:29 AM
Ken was always my favorite! Nice for the official image. This better be good.
breakUbatman - 1/25/2014, 6:29 AM
Ken Masters is white... like The Mandarin

@UltimateSpidey, I know that. I'm being sarcastic.
robometrallador - 1/25/2014, 6:36 AM
looks great, ken masters was always gringo
@Enphlieuwince. Have you seen the first short film that these guys, that are making this movie, made? It has Ken fighting Ryu?
Desrow - 1/25/2014, 6:44 AM
Ken is awesome
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 6:48 AM
When will we see a real street fighter movie. Costume looks cheap. Ryu is the man though. So was Lee, sagat, guile, and E.Honda would give you death by a thousand slaps lol.
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:05 AM
He needs to get rid of that weave extension ponytail.
Dinotron - 1/25/2014, 7:06 AM
How the heck does the costumes look cheap? It's a red gi...you can't make that look more "expensive" or whatever your looking for
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:08 AM
@enph waddup. is that u in the pic?
heitish - 1/25/2014, 7:09 AM
Its a shame legend of chun Lee sucked would be awesome if there was a couple stand-alone movies that lead to a huge street fighter movie
@Enphlieuwince, yea it's pretty great. It's called Street Fighter Legacy 2010 short film. It's made by the same guys doing this film.

@AlphaFlexXxKO, it's a fan made film.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:16 AM
@dinotron look at the Damn gloves and hair. Ken looks like a cos player. He looks all fake and lifted off a drawing board.
kjra92 - 1/25/2014, 7:17 AM
@SimpleeComplex But it's part of his characterization. Since this is 'Alpha-Ken', he'd cut it by the end of the 'Alpha' timeline. For now, I like the ponytail. :)
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:20 AM
@ Enphlieuwince classic gif. I wasn't really a fan of the Alpha series. Akuma was probably the best character that came from that series. Super Street Fighter II was off the Richter scale.
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:21 AM
@kj. cool. good point.
Space - 1/25/2014, 7:21 AM
kjra92 - 1/25/2014, 7:25 AM
@TheRealRemyLebeau they're supposed to look cheap and dirty because the setting is secluded Japanese wilderness, where the gi's and gloves look like they've been worn for so long and been passed on for so many years. :)
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:30 AM
@enph wow never crossed my mind that you were a black/and or mixed race, tough as nails lookin but cool, down to earth mofo. Avatars, ya gotta love em lol!
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:33 AM
@ SimpleeComplex I agree with you. Lose the platinum blond wig. They could of found a better hair piece. Don't know if these creators are going for a exact arcade look or realistic because ken is not looking realistic. It's crazy how nobody has nailed this property yet. This and Mortal Kombat as well as Tekken.
MightyZeus - 1/25/2014, 7:33 AM
Looks like Ken to me. I'll be sure to give this a watch when it's released.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:38 AM
@ kjra92 sorry man but the gloves and hair look brand new out the box. The gi is fine but if they intended for an arcade look then fine. Ken doesn't look dirty or grimey like he has been training and getting his ass kicked. Yes Ryu is on another level ;)
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:41 AM
@remy. yeah idk if a game like street fighter which has such a stylized and cartoony look to it can be respectfully adapted w/o looking cheesy. For ex. (Van Dam's Street Fighter ugh) or underwhelming (Kristen Kruk and Neal McDonough's Chun Li flic) or this image here which looks straight out the video game but out of place against a real wilderness backdrop. I was never too good SF games but I always enjoyed the mythos of it. I think some things are left better when they are not given a bigscreen/small screen adaptation. Maybe SF is 1 of those? IDK?
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:43 AM
@ Enphlieuwince the characters were corny besides maybe Akuma. I bought the first Alpha game on Sega Saturn and it had like 9 players if I recall maybe more but it didn't catch me like the original series. I'm going to relook up the series characters again but my childhood memory wasn't too fond of the alpha series.
mgeoff88 - 1/25/2014, 7:44 AM
Ken looks awesome!

@MexicanSuperman Ken is actually more than half Japanese. This was even mentioned on the Street Fighter II V anime series.
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:44 AM
Lol @ Neal McDounough aka Dum Dum Duggan from Cap America: 1st Avenger as Bison in that Chun Li flick, what a miscast. When he got his neck snapped at the wnd was even funnier lolll.
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:46 AM
Shoutout to @cyks will u be in X-men DOFP or not man?? Loll
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:47 AM
@kj that and also Marvel's Iron Fist Netflix show comin out.
kjra92 - 1/25/2014, 7:48 AM
Ken was never a natural blonde to begin with, hence the use of a wig. The gloves aspect of the costumes is something I want to own. I hope they make it available through merchandising.

I am very excited to see this series. 2014 is gonna be one epic year. With this and 'The Raid 2', 'Martial arts' themed entertainment will be the biggest thing in this year. :)
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:49 AM
@ SimpleeComplex I think it can be done. Example you see Chris hemsworth hair extentions for Thor. They could've used something that looked real like how a real blond person looks like. Not this platinum blond stuff. His gloves if they wanted to be close to the yellow gloves he wears could've been light brownish and worn out. Ryu and kens costumes are not that hard but everyone has done something that looked off or not real.
MercwithMouth - 1/25/2014, 7:50 AM
Am I the only person that loved the cheesy Van-Damme Street Fighter? It was hilariously awesome! I just wish they would've had a better Dahlsim!

And Ken looks badass! This web series is gonna be incredible. The interviews these guys have done really show their love for the characters and the story.
MercwithMouth - 1/25/2014, 7:55 AM
@Enphlieuwince

That Chun-Li Vega fight was awesome!
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:56 AM
Lol @merc ur rite man they really didn't do Dhalsim justice wasn't he just a regular Indian scientist or sumthing? Btw that Van Dam SF flick had some dope songs on the soundtrack. Notably The Pharcyde's "Pandemonium". It had a real gutter beat to it and Booty Brown really flowed to it.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/25/2014, 7:57 AM
@ kjra92 when artist make a characters hair yellow its supposed to be blond just like cammy. I don't think this will do anything to bring martial arts back to film. The mortal kombat web series was supposed to do that and it went nowhere. The raid 2 is actually a real motion picture and can make waves I think.
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:59 AM
@enphi hear ya. Lol k remember when we watched the OG animated SF flick me & my friends were eager to see the Chun Li shower scene hahahhaha. What pervs we were. And then that awesome Vega fight scene of course.
