Keishi Ōtomo returns to direct both feature films for Studio Swan. Takeru Satoh plays Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei returns as Kaoru Kamiya, Yusuke Iseya plays Aoshi Shinomori, Munetaka Aoki plays Sanosuke Sagara, Yuu Aoi co-stars as Megumi Takani, Ryunosuke Kamiki plays Sōjirō Seta, Yosuke Eguchi plays Hajime Saitō, Tatsuya Fujiwara plays Makoto Shishio, the venerable min Tanaka plays Nenji Kashiwazaki/Okina, Kazufumi Miyazawa plays Toshimichi Ōkubo, Yukiyoshi Ozawa plays Hirobumi Itō, Kaito Ōyagi plays Yahiko Myōjin, Maryjun Takahashi plays Yumi Komagata and Ryosuke Miura plays Chō Sawagejō. Watsuki's original manga began in 1994 and recently concluded its non-concurrent run this past June in Jump Square. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen (Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire) will be released in Japan theaters this autumn, on August 1st. The third film, Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen (Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend) will be released just a month later, on September 13th.

you anime nerds and your wishes. you DO realize that live action versions won't have the goofy wide eyes, stupid lines coming from their heads, eyes squeezed shut while they utter high pitched squeals of exultation...none of that will happen, right? and then you'll all be like "oh thats not how sailor moon is supposed to act!" and stuff like that.
go be immature with the anime as is
Pathogen - 2/10/2014, 3:53 PM
I WILL add this:
Many of the anime concepts are cool as hell, and some of the animation is cool...like JoeMomma's gif above. lIf they could keep a mature tone to it, a more bad ass tone, w/out all of the stupid kid stuff I mentioned, the inane giggles, etc etc....Then maybe. Just maybe.
ps. the Lensman was good. but then, I was also a kid.
Pox - 2/10/2014, 4:38 PM
I will just say that I'm glad they included this fight in the film since it is the only fight Aoshi had that was worth a damn that he won (I'm going anime only not manga).

and even then...it was against an old man.
HachibiTheMC - 2/11/2014, 6:45 AM
This is gonna be oversaturated with Awesome-sauce.

@Pathogen

Of all the Anime out there, both good and bad, your example is Sailor Moon? Sad.

You've clearly not seen the first Rurouni Kenshin Live-Action. There is no "glomping", no oversized eyes, etc. It was like the Marvel/Disney ventures. A more adult tone with sly bits of humor slipped in.

It was as accurate as you can get without ripping the characters straight from the screen. It was Anime-to-Live done right.

Your sweeping generalization on anime, while common, just shows that you either haven't seen great anime like Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Spriggen, Princess Mononoke or your just trolling.

At the very least you need to see the final fight scene before judging.
Melkaticox - 2/11/2014, 8:07 AM
@Pathogen Most anime are better than comics :)

I wonder why Diamond Films hasn't distributed the first film on lat-am..."Samurai X" was pretty famous back in the day. They already did it with DBZ Battle of Gods and Legend of Sanctuary (in a few months...)
Oh well, here's hoping for the best.
mamoonNorz - 2/14/2014, 9:17 AM
I want a live-action BLEACH movie! The manga is coming to an end soon and the anime has been the best. They should cast a good Japanese actor who has a good american english accent.
mamoonNorz - 2/14/2014, 9:19 AM
BLEACH definitely deserves a live-action movie. It's going to be mind-blowing just like the manga and anime.
