This may seem like deja vu. A year ago, Kellvin from Latino Review reported that Emperor Palpatine was going to appear in the new Star Wars films, and today he is saying the same thing. Now, before any of you freak out, remember that the script a year ago was written by Michael Arndt, but today that script has been heavily changed by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. I believe most, if not all of Arndt's material was tossed. Though, it seems that J.J. and Kasdan liked Arndt's idea of bringing Darth Sidious back from the dead. I mean, if he really died after Darth Vader tossed him like a ragdoll.

"My source told me that The Emperor "100%" will appear in Star Wars Episode VII and VIII. Don't look for confirmations from this from Ian Mcdiarmid, because he's not portraying the Emperor this time. Will this big bad resemble the craggy old man of Return of the Jedi? Now that is the question."

Star Wars: Episode VII - Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, David Oyelowow, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. It's being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

Ah shit, I shouldn't have read that.

He's dead
BlackIceJoe - 8/22/2014, 11:42 PM
If I remember correctly he did return in the expanded universe. I think it was a ghost, but I'm not totally sure. Maybe I'm wrong and am thinking about Boba Fett who returns.
reverendjonnynemo - 8/22/2014, 11:44 PM
"Don't look for confirmations from this from Ian Mcdiarmid, because he's not portraying the Emperor this time"

Then it's not frakkin Palpatine.
titansupes - 8/23/2014, 12:00 AM
I call bullshit.
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:01 AM
This is bullshit
Reasonnnn - 8/23/2014, 12:01 AM
@nailbiter preach. IGNORANT fools dismissing Latino-Review and Badass Digest, yet they'll accept any rumor that fits their wishes for their respective film.
MightyZeus - 8/23/2014, 12:03 AM
This would suck if it's true.
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:09 AM
This is bullshit it would completely nullify and cheapen Anakins sacrifice in RoTJ. Not only that but it would make episode stories useless especially if Luke has been locked up since RoTJ and if the sith still roam around. Ya I call bullshit.

Only way i can accept that Palpatine came back would be because he learned how to Force Ghost before he died. Thats it. Darth Vader should never come back unless for a flashback or as a plot point...
staypuffed - 8/23/2014, 12:09 AM
But yeah, this would be terrible.
SageMode - 8/23/2014, 12:09 AM
It still amazingly funny that Latino Review consistently breaks scoops that turn out to be true and people still dought their credibility.

Ignorance is bliss i tell ya.
SageMode - 8/23/2014, 12:10 AM
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:10 AM
And even flashbacks arent a star wars thing and was never done before
AbedIsBatman - 8/23/2014, 12:10 AM
WhiteSAMURAI - 8/23/2014, 12:10 AM
I wouldn't doubt if this turns out to be true. Considering how most people love the Emperor it would make sense for them to want to put it in. I wouldn't mind it too much if he did appear in the next few films. As long as they don't put Darth Vader in I'm fine.
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:13 AM

they are usually spot on for Marvel and DC but with Star Wars I think they're off big time....theres too many contradicting plot points in these scoops especially with established canon. i dont think kasdan or abrams are that stupid but who knows.
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:15 AM
Yeah I agree no vader or use very little of the emperor. ...let them rest in peace and give their deaths a meaning by keeping them DEAD. Let's get new villains please.
Barry - 8/23/2014, 12:18 AM
Luke Skywalker gets kidnapped by Sith acolytes to be used as the vessel for the spirit of Emperor Palpatine.
SpiderBat209 - 8/23/2014, 12:19 AM
Dammit. I was hoping for Bobba Fett. :(
Barry - 8/23/2014, 12:19 AM
Imagine Mark Hamill playing two roles in the sequel trilogy, Force Ghost Luke and a scenery chewing Palpatine in Luke's body. If anyone can outdo Ian McDiarmid, it's The Joker.
BlacktinAmerica - 8/23/2014, 12:20 AM
Rokyn - 8/23/2014, 12:24 AM

You might be up to something with that hmmm or maybe Andy Serkis or that one old guy is takening over? I still think Adam Driver is the pawn bad guy here....behind being the muppet master
KidGoku - 8/23/2014, 12:25 AM
What if Palpetine's Ghost was able to transfer into Luke? I'm only saying that because Hamill is amazing villains (Joker & Firelord Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Starfox - 8/23/2014, 12:26 AM

LOL agreed. These spoilers are just too hard to resist sometimes.
staypuffed - 8/23/2014, 12:30 AM
While I am a Star Wars fan, I'm not ridiculously anticipating this like, say, Batman v Superman. I suppose it's not a massive deal, if it does turn out to be true, but I prefer to go in fresh.
staypuffed - 8/23/2014, 12:30 AM
(...I feel like that comment didn't make any sense)
charlie2094 - 8/23/2014, 12:38 AM
I don't see this happening, would cheapen the ending of Episode 6 too much, doubt they'd want to affect the Original trilogy much.

Could maybe return as a Ghost or maybe somehow transfers himself to a new body (is that a thing?) hence Ian McDiarmid not playing the role...possibly. Still don't really believe this though
Timerider84 - 8/23/2014, 12:44 AM
If true, then I hope they make him skinny like Episode VI Emperor, like Chris Evans was in Captain America The First Avenger.

It has to be Ian McDiarmid. I will accept no substitute.
LancerEvo - 8/23/2014, 12:44 AM
Keep Palpatine dead, keep Vader/Anakin dead. Need a new threat. I'd say Yuuzhan Vong, but they decided to say f*ck the EU so meh...

I'd be cool with Nightsisters/long-thought-dead Sith faction that forces Luke to build a new Jedi Council/Order.
Barry - 8/23/2014, 12:46 AM
Mark Hamill = Emperor Palpatine 2.0
Barry - 8/23/2014, 12:53 AM
From 1983:

Maria Shriver: "I've heard that you've been hired to come back as Luke Skywalker in the last Star Wars film, 18 years from now. Is that true?"

Mark Hamill: "It's something like 2004 or something."

Maria Shriver: "You're gonna be back?"

Mark Hamill: "But, you see, he's being very cagey. It's either going to be on another plane of existence, or not the same character. And I can't really say why without sort of getting into sensitive material."

Zuriel - 8/23/2014, 1:03 AM
Thanks @Barry for that video.

Hasn't this always been the rumor/legend? That Palaptine's ghost would come back and (spoilers) that Luke would turn to the darkside to balance the force after all these new jedi arise and the sith are defeated again?
MrChuff - 8/23/2014, 1:26 AM
This is bollocks.
If JJ can bring back Hamill, Ford and Fisher then I'm sure as shit he'd get McDiarmid back to play Palpatine too.
Omega - 8/23/2014, 1:29 AM
I want Darth Plagueis

Darthkost1s - 8/23/2014, 1:30 AM
In the now-non-canon Expanded U, Palpatine jumped into a younger body before falling to his death, so if they do that, it's not like it isn't based on the source material. Man, the EU was damn great, sad to see it go. Oh well, at least I'll now be able to get all the books and not miss a thing.
Barry - 8/23/2014, 1:45 AM
How I came to the conclusion that Mark Hamill is playing Darth Sidious 2.0:

1. Everyone seems to agree that Luke is being held captive by the villains. Why wouldn't they just kill him?

2. There was a rumor a while back that the baddies were trying to resurrect a Sith Lord. Hmm, I wonder who...

3. Now word breaks that Palpatine is returning, but Ian McDiarmid isn't.

4. Mark Hamill's interview from 1983: "It's either going to be on another plane of existence, or not the same character. And I can't really say why without sort of getting into sensitive material." So, he'll be a Force Ghost or playing a different character? What?

5. It makes sense that Sith acolytes would choose someone with a high midichlorian count to be the vessel for a resurrected Palpatine. Who better than the son of Darth Vader? Luke's spirit somehow gets evicted and Palpatine sets up shop in his body.
Wetboy40 - 8/23/2014, 1:58 AM
Palpatine (The Emperor) made an appearance in the Expanded Universe in 1991 and 1992 with the Dark Empire series of comic books written by Tom Veitch and illustrated by Cam Kennedy. In the series (set six years after Return of the Jedi), Palpatine is resurrected as the Emperor Reborn or Palpatine the Undying.

He also appears in the expanded universe a couple more times as a Clone and a Sith Ghost.
TeamCapCarter84 - 8/23/2014, 2:16 AM
Old villains should stay dead... geez... why is it so damn hard to understand that concept? Did these lunatics watch the end of ROTJ? *kicks at the grass* gah!...this bullshit is making me beat up grass!
loki668 - 8/23/2014, 2:43 AM
An evil character returns to Star Wars??

Does that mean Lucas is going to direct?
