Dammit, i really liked Dench as M
SheldonCooper - 4/6/2012, 1:36 AM
With her eye problem, it's kind of expected.
MovieGuy2178 - 4/6/2012, 1:45 AM
Man, that was a surprise!!!
nailbiter111 - 4/6/2012, 1:47 AM
There will be no complaining about how I handled the spoiler since I gave multiple warnings. Once you click that button it's on you.
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 4/6/2012, 2:35 AM
Excellent warnings of the spoiler in the article - kudos! The inbred yokels in the comments section, however have made that redundant! Well done!
Toasty - 4/6/2012, 2:55 AM
Such a shame but she's had a fantastic run, i wouldn't be surprised if Judi Dench turned out to be the head of the real Mi5 she's that good at her role.
Fantine - 4/6/2012, 3:26 AM
No! I loved that character!! Dench is an amazing actress and brought class and real sense of Britishness to the films.
Seejay - 4/6/2012, 4:03 AM

Natural really to replace her.

Gives this new film a bit of an edge, with revenge.
marvel72 - 4/6/2012, 4:14 AM
not surprised at all, judi dench is slowly going blind & has trouble reading scripts.

she gets someone to read them to her.
cmay13 - 4/6/2012, 5:02 AM
Meryl Streep for new M!
BackwardGalaxy - 4/6/2012, 5:20 AM
@Why would Ralph take M's role if it's of no importance?

1: Because it's a role in a major franchise that he can typically film in about a week and gets him both a paycheck and exposure. Why WOULDN'T you take that part? What's the downside?

2: If they're killing off Dench's M, it would seem that the character's level of importance in the franchise is about to get quite the boost.
DarkArts - 4/6/2012, 6:01 AM
What gets me about the Bond movies is when they cast a new Bond hes like 35 or 38. And they get 2 movies out of the guy and then he's too old looking and they have to start over. Connery was like 30 when he was cast though he looked much older, but they got quite a few years out of him. As for Roger Moore, he looked too old in the last 3 he did but they went with him too long. In View to a Kill he looked like he an elderly man. Craig already looks much too old for the part.
comicb00kguy - 4/6/2012, 6:10 AM
Bgg1175: I was thinking the same thing- Craig sure is looking elderly in that last shot. Is he now taking his martinis with a shot of Geritol?

I'm sorry to hear that they're killing off Dench's M, but it sounds like she's ready to retire. I just hope the filmmakers have a little class in how they do it.
Greengo - 4/6/2012, 6:15 AM
GD it @nailbiter!!

How bout a spoiler warning next time?

:)
Greengo - 4/6/2012, 6:17 AM
The highlighting text was pretty cool but the skull & crossbones over her pic made highlighting the text unecessary.

Poor Mrs. Dench I really like her as an actress : (
KNIGHT3000 - 4/6/2012, 7:33 AM
No offense, but anyone saying the role of M is not valuable, clearly knows nothing of Bond.
KNIGHT3000 - 4/6/2012, 7:37 AM
I don't think D. Craig is looking too old, its just how they look without make up. He looks great for his age, and is always in his best shape as Bond. Plus, I think its because Craig has that mature look why he is the only Bond to rock the short hair, giving him a younger tougher look.
KNIGHT3000 - 4/6/2012, 7:39 AM
I wonder if they kill her up close... that would be cool, like in her face close, by some monster.
Hellsing - 4/6/2012, 7:51 AM
Last time I checked Bond wasn't immortal and he didn't have the infinity formula, he was perfectly human. So I think he allowed to age. Bond's meant to be a man not some twilighty hearthrob. Long as Craig stays in shape let the guy lay the character as long as he physically can.
thewonderer - 4/6/2012, 7:58 AM
FASSBENDER FOR BOND WITH NOLAN AS THE DIRECTOR
jimoakley666 - 4/6/2012, 8:12 AM
Yeah, kinda expected that.
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/6/2012, 8:44 AM
Damn! I really wished Fiennes would play a bad guy but oh well... he rules still. Gonna miss Dench thou.
Albert Finney who´s in the film too would have been good replacement.

Craig said not so long ago that he is gonna be Bond as long as he can so i think we are still gonna see at least two Bond films with him.
asdalhjljh - 4/6/2012, 9:42 AM
I predicted that since the moment i heard Mendes was attached to the project. Either Bond has to kill M (she has betrayed the organization) or Bardem kills her (Bardem will be working for the real villain, Fiennes--Blofeld in disguise), but I figured M would have to go this time around. Most likely Fiennes is going to take over M16 as a result, and at the end, be revealed to be Blofeld, leader of Quantum or whatever. Fiennes will have Bardem killed at the end after Bond captures him, and Bardem will realize he's been betrayed by the man he trusted as his boss.
Hellsing - 4/6/2012, 10:04 AM
@PatientZero you do realise Craigs version is more or less a reboot, hell any time a new bond is choosen the series gets a soft reboot so trying to piece together the continuity might be kinda futile my friend.

And after Craig is done Fass"schlong"bender as Bond FTW. I mean the 1st half first class was essentially his audition tape for the role.
justified1 - 4/6/2012, 10:13 AM
If this is true, this will send Bond down an even darker route that he has never been before.

Dench has been a good M. I still like Bernard Lee.

This is shaping up to be a spec-damn-tacular movie.
batfan175 - 4/6/2012, 10:25 AM
eh...one good bond film, one bad film so there's nothing at stake for me here personally. The only other Bond films i watched were Goldfinger and The Man with the Golden Gun (just because Christopher lee is so awesome in everything he does).
golden123 - 4/6/2012, 11:06 AM
@batfan175: This women also played the character in four bond movies prior to Casino Royale.
DTor91 - 4/6/2012, 11:11 AM
@PatientZero

Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and now Skyfall have no relation to the previous movies. Casino Royale was a reboot, in the same way Batman Begins was a reboot.
DarkArts - 4/6/2012, 12:07 PM
@Hellsing If Craig were auditioning for Bond at his age 44 and looking like hes 52 as he does he wouldnt get the part. Craig is simply too old for the part now. If he had gotten the role @ 30 they couldve used him more. They cast him in his late 30's. So he began at the age were he or others should be exiting the role. If however they want to have Bond grow old, then the character should be written as a guy past his prime not in it. Years of that life would be catching up to him big time at 40+ years. Like a pro athlete he would be having severe problems with past injuries, reflexes would be slower. In a life and death job like that, as depicted in the movies, he'd get killed because of that.
nailbiter111 - 4/6/2012, 12:19 PM
there really are some moronic comments that i had to delete. once you click on the article that says spoiler warning you can't complain about how the spoiler is revealed in the article. to bitch about after you hit the button is STUPID. no if ands or buts about it.
nailbiter111 - 4/6/2012, 12:23 PM
And when you know a spoiler is in the article, you don't scroll down to see the full article. you slowly scroll down cautiously, thus avoiding a spoilery image which is set well below the text that needs to be highlighted. duh
nailbiter111 - 4/6/2012, 12:24 PM
these are things i shouldn't have to tell people, like using a blow dryer in the bathtub.
Greengo - 4/6/2012, 2:30 PM
Lol! I'm just glad u read my comments : )

He is getting old quick. Or I don't see him that often.
AUSSYACE - 4/6/2012, 5:49 PM
HENRY CAVILL IS BOND...
mgeoff88 - 4/6/2012, 5:57 PM
I guess this isn't too surprising. That's going to take some getting used to though.

I mean, she's been M for more than a decade. Both in the movies, and video games. It's gonna be weird seeing someone else play the role.
bizarro - 4/7/2012, 5:28 AM
if craig leaves.....HUGH JACKMAN for bond.
dancingmonkey08 - 4/7/2012, 9:17 PM
well if this is officially true, it finally fixes the continuity problem of why Judi Dench is in the rebooted Bond movies..

but I will miss her, Judi Dench was amazing in them. But Ralph Fiennes committing long term to the Bond movies, I dont see it
