A few quotes in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine from director Christopher Nolan about the responsibility and challenge of bringing his Batman trilogy to a proper close.
Christopher Nolan: "We feel a tremendous challenge and responsibility to finish our story. We have to give the audiences something they haven't seen before, but also fulfill their expectations of what they enjoyed in the first two films. That's the tricky balance."

"With a sequel there is always the challenge of trying to meet or indeed exceed expectations. And some of those are based on the size, scale and world of the film. We traveled to many different places because we wanted to give it a broader canvas."

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

That's exactly what I want to hear. Suck it haters.

I can't wait for this. I like the look of Bane and how Catwoman's costume is a throwback to Julie Newmar. I love that I don't know or have any clue as to how this movie is going to turn out. Too many times with movies like this way too much information is given and we basically know the movie before we see it.
antonio - 5/10/2012, 9:15 AM
@PaulRom couldn't agree more.
danyu - 5/10/2012, 9:19 AM
I really really wanted to be excited for this film. I just don't feel it. I loved the Dark Knight, even though I liked Batman Begins more.

I blame the trailers.

My girlfriend and I couldn't stop laughing when we heard the revised Bane voice from the trailer before Avengers. It sounded like someone dubbed his voice.

Usually a superhero movie is always on my To-Do List, but I think this time I'm going to I'll just Netflix it.
Sanderman - 5/10/2012, 9:21 AM
i don't see why so many are hating on this. Movie looks like it gonna be just as good or maybe even better than the others. Nolan has yet to make a bad film so i don't expect him to start now
TheDominicanBoy - 5/10/2012, 9:25 AM
SOY DOMINICANO Y VI LA PELICULA AVNGER Y EN VERDAD QUE ES MAS DE LO MISMO, ES UNA PELICULA ABURIDA, LA ACCCION NO ES MUY BUENA, Y EL FINAL NO EXPRESA NADA POSITIVO, ES MONOTONA FILMADA AN UN MISMA LOCALIDAD, BATMAN SERA UN MEJOR PROYECTO FILMICO

I AM DOMINICAN AND WATCH THE MOVIE AVANGER AND TRUTH IS MORE OF THE SAME IS A BORING MOVIE, THE ACTION IS NOT VERY GOOD, AND THE FINAL NO EXPRESS NOTHING POSITIVE FILM AN A is monotone SAME LOCATION, BATMAN BE A BETTER PROJECT Film

ojkush - 5/10/2012, 9:30 AM
Greengo - 5/10/2012, 9:34 AM
That's reassuring.
Xionn - 5/10/2012, 9:40 AM
Watched the trailer once more and got goosebumps, I think its mainly because of Zimmers score and the dialogue between Catwoman and Batman. Bane seems like a deadly thread this time round, Tom Hardy is the guy for the part, someone who can portray emotions with facial and body movements.
antonio - 5/10/2012, 9:42 AM
@batlizard lol.
mrHJK - 5/10/2012, 9:44 AM
Sólo hay uno Bane, y él es hispano.
Xionn - 5/10/2012, 9:48 AM
I don't think its fair to compare it to Avengers though. For me Avengers was really good fun, but no master piece in film making, I'm glad they kept the plot simple though. It was more of a fun filled ride, which I thoroughly enjoyed and want to watch again...while Rises is going to be more of a film I will pay much more attention to and take in every scene, every dialogue, direction and just a bit more serious story line.
pintoman - 5/10/2012, 9:50 AM
Love much of Nolan's work but felt the 'Dark Knight was too dry and didn't believe that, in the realistic world they are shooting for, the Joker's "plan" would have really worked out for him in all the places it did. For some reason not excited about this new film. My initial guess as to why is that I'm not looking forward to another long drawn out "plan" like the last film. I guess Nolan's films exhaust me and/or don't have much humor. Perhaps they also lack color and "escape". Bane's image, for some reason I can't quite pin down, is also not helping to bring me in.
DocBeez - 5/10/2012, 9:55 AM
I agree. DominicanBoy is difficult to understand.
Xionn - 5/10/2012, 9:55 AM
@pintoman Did you enjoy Batman Begins though? It was less slower paced that Dark Knight, the pace was just right and it was really interesting seeing the character come together. I prefer it slightly more than Dark Knight.
bfprimetime - 5/10/2012, 9:57 AM
I for one am glad the trailer hasn't spoiled it. The Avengers trailer spoiled showed all the action scenes from the movie. All of Hulks big scenes were shown during the trailer,and if anybody says their just going to wait till Netflix ur a liar!
pintoman - 5/10/2012, 9:58 AM
I understand that at some point the powers of a hero need to tangle with someone who has equal powers but what I miss most from "Superhero" films are sequences where the hero interacts with typical modern day "bad guys". I think those sequences help provide hope for the common man—that justice is served. As we go through our daily lives we see things we don't like but feel powerless. A hero like Batman gives us a chance to dream of having the power for change. When the bad guys are represented by something we don't see every day, the film becomes something else.
pintoman - 5/10/2012, 10:00 AM
@Xionn

Yes, loved Batman Begins. Also loved The Prestige and Inception.
antonio - 5/10/2012, 10:01 AM
@Batlizard

;)
Xionn - 5/10/2012, 10:05 AM
@pintoman Same here. I was hoping you liked Inception, I didn't think you did because you said Nolans films are quite exhausting. I would prefer to watch Batman Begins or Inception again one evening over The Dark Knight. I hope Rises makes a worthy end to the trilogy. What I am hoping is for some really iconic and memorable scenes, I hope the pacing is good so that you don't feel bored at any point through the film and that Bane gets good screentime (I wanted to see more of The Joker in TDK!).
TheMyth - 5/10/2012, 10:15 AM
Man, even without a 'Whedonite' to spur it, you guys are so bitter that you just can't stop talking about Avengers even though you claim all sorts of BS about it. You aren't comic book fans, you aren't CBM fans, you're Batman fans and that's it. So bring the flames, doesn't matter to me. I'll keep reading my books from BOTH publishers and keep ENJOYING the films about characters from BOTH publishers because I'm not so childish as you [frick]s on both sides of your fences. The opinion of zealous idiots is meaningless.
GingerBird - 5/10/2012, 10:18 AM
If anyone can make a perfect trilogy, Christopher Nolan and Peter Jackson can.
Xionn - 5/10/2012, 10:20 AM
@Cadbo This is one problem I have too. The gap/story end is a bit odd, unless Batmans continues to fight the Rouges Gallery after Rises.

The Lord of the Rings and Nolan's Batman vision are going to be my two best trilogies.
marknjoanna - 5/10/2012, 10:23 AM
so nolams saying the 8th batman movie will give us something we havent seen befor huh.

spoiler batman dies no way around it.the bats been refried,rehashed and so many retreads put on him that his death is the only and i mean only new thing left.

thax for telling us how it ends nolan good job lmao.
marknjoanna - 5/10/2012, 10:25 AM
@con why dont you want to try your 1st lang vs my 1st lang.im pretty sure i know why but would love for you to say it
Jollem - 5/10/2012, 10:32 AM
batman has had countless stories in comic books. there is a lot of new they can do with batman in the movies. if this was hypothetically the 132nd batman movie coming out, i would most likely still be pretty excited to see it.
SpiderFan35 - 5/10/2012, 10:33 AM
@antonio: I bet she does ;)

@Batlizard: Posting boobs - you're doing it wrong :P

Dominican Boy es Nolanito!

"We have to give the audiences something they haven't seen before" - mission accomplished, he didn't say we were going to like it :P
SpiderFan35 - 5/10/2012, 10:36 AM
Wow, never saw that Conan video before, that was awful.
Fonzieismypal - 5/10/2012, 10:37 AM
I'm exhausted with people comparing this to The Avengers. They are two different genres of film. Avengers is a comic book movie and TDKR is a film. If you consider comic book story telling to be an artform like I do, then you should respect both, but it's no question that this movie will be a better film. That's what Nolan has been trying to do this whole time. This movie isn't based off comic books like The Avengers. It's Nolan's take on the idea of Batman, and that's totally cool because everyone loves Batman. We've gotten to see a whole new take on the bat and it's been a sweet ride, but there's no point in comparing it to a movie that was trying to accomplish something totally different. Like whichever movie you want to like but don't try to say that one is better. That's like saying that red is better than blue. It doesn't make any [frick]ing sense.
GiantNerd0720 - 5/10/2012, 10:41 AM
I'll get around to seeing it in theaters at some point.
DarkArts - 5/10/2012, 10:43 AM
@Cadbo Thats true. He did 1 year on the streets then apparently retires, before Bane shows up.
In a way, its like an ELSEWORLD'S story where things go wrong for Batman and he hangs it up after a year.
ComradeGrey - 5/10/2012, 10:45 AM
Batman dies.
Fonzieismypal - 5/10/2012, 10:46 AM
@Intruder

Not gonna lie. As soon as I submitted that, I thought to myself "[frick]. Red is way better than that asshole blue..."
GiantNerd0720 - 5/10/2012, 10:47 AM
I just wish I was more excited for it because it comes out on my birthday and it would've been cool to spend a part of the day at the theater.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 5/10/2012, 10:49 AM
@ojkush, buen dicho hermano. Yo tambien estoy harto de esta discusion. Esto no es una discusion de los Avengers, pero de Batman.
Enough with trying to make it Batman vs the Avengers. Avengers was great and TDKR will be also, but in a different way. We win with both, and the TDKR trailer leaves me with a feeling of dread! Can't wait.
GiantNerd0720 - 5/10/2012, 10:50 AM
But instead I'll be sitting around my buddies pool slamming brews with my buds and probably end up causing some trouble of some kind. :P
