The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

Its funny cause Hathaway is like the "New Goblin" of TDKR. She barely resembles the character and is never referred to as "Catwoman" only her real name, Selina Kyle.
Just like Harry barely resembled the Green Goblin and was only reffered to as Harry. Yet we were told his name was New Goblin, but no one ever used that stupid ass name.

Oh and why does Gwens apartment have a fire escape? In manhattan, especially high rise, expensive buildings, there arent fire escapes...

hey saintspidey67....i was thinking...based on some scenes in Avengers...i really think Tom Hiddleston (Loki)...would make a great Joker for a Batman reboot. ay?

More Sony raping Spidey non-sense.

BUT... you fckers can watch it in 3D!!!! Awesome.

HIPSTER: Sony's greed killed SPidey 3. How anyone can complain about 1 and 2... well you're just nitpicking. I'll give credit when it's due and it seems that they let Raimi do his job, but became meddlers with the 3rd.

Greed makes people do silly things.

Sony has also followed up that great error by feeling that is is necessary to create an 'origin'. Why? Why not continue or or atleast pull a Bana=>Norton "It's not the same lead so we'll throw a brief montage in at the start" continuation? Unnecessary and gosh darn annoying.

BTW, I feel the 'origin' angle was to offset the backlash of fanboys who felt that it was unnecesary, and I agree that it was.

SONY is trying to make you believe that "It's new and fresh". F U Sony.

I shall not be a follwer to the Sony trash bin and will abstain by purchasing a ticket. But of course... I'll still see it for free :)

Spidey is AOK in my eyes, but Sony? You're starting to reach Fox levels!

Sorry, I mean the marketing push of "Sh!t, we're delving deeper into Spidey's past", was created due to negative initial public feedback.

Joe Public smelt that something was 'off' based on the first trailer so Sony in their wisdom decided to play the 'origin' card in future marketing. Lame.

Hipster: I think you're a decent guy... chosing the name "Hipster" not withstanding ;-)

But we ALL make judgements before seeing something. That's not "idiocy".

That's called being an "educated consumer".

yay for the RED Epic! interesting to see that rig strapped on to Andrew; I wonder how that plays out in the film.

I missed Spidey being a smart ass. He used jokes as a defense mechanism to hide his fear. And when he put on the mask he pretended to be someone else. He wasn't as wise cracking as Peter Parker. He was shy and nerdy. The suit gave him more confidence. The only wise crack I remember from Spiderman 1 was when he was fighting Macho Man. I miss him being poor too. He's no Tony Stark. These traits define him as a character.

nothing interesting here

LOL, Spiderman still has to go to school.

I'm hyped about this. It's simple images like Spidey in costume but wearing a Backpack that give it the realism it needs. So many people always asked in the Raimi films, "Where does he put his clothes?!? Does he just take em off somewhere then leave em?!?" LOL Having it the way Webb will do it makes more sense. HAVING SAID THAT....The Suit STILL SUCKS
PeterParkersWeb - 5/24/2012, 7:33 AM
@TheAmazingHipsterMan yeah, yeah always the same BS with you. I will not make any judgements before the film release, but you should stop trash talking something (Raimi's trilogy) that was loved and critically acclaimed. Tobey was great and even Andrew knows about it. Damn those stupid hipsters!
thewolfx - 5/24/2012, 8:04 AM
@TheAmazingHipsterMan

agreed wit hmost your points untill you said this

"The previous three films were TERIBLE! They were horribly written, horribly acted, and inaccurate to the comics"

now you just look like a complete idiot to me

how anyone can call sm1 and 2 horrible movies is beyond me , with those movies your basketball man wouldnt be man

also last time i checked spiderman was an accident i nthe comics not some predestined superhero with a naked goomaba lizard ... so much accuracy

just admit both films arent 100% faithful to the comics
TheWebSlinger - 5/24/2012, 8:11 AM
@ Musashi, I'm sure he will be poor once he moves out, while in High School he's still living with his Aunt and Uncle.

Seriously, I really loved all three Spider-Man movies when they came out (some more than most lol)..but looking back, they definitely have a lot of cheese (especially the first two..along with the first X-Men). Still good movies, but just a bit of that time where people weren't taking it 100% serious. Still, awesome movies, but I am super excited for this reboot.

Most complaints make no sense. No one has seen the movie here, so you don't know that they are delving back into the origin. Some have theorized that the story will not be linear. Makes sense, Peter is investigating things. It would bring back flashbacks. Instead of making everyone sit through the origin, they could sprinkle it in throughout the story. Then again, maybe not. My point is we don't know.
Also, we don't know if he's an accident or not. But to everyone that freaks out over the predestined sounding line: ladies and gentlemen, may I show you the characters Ezekiel & Morlun. Not saying those stories are good, I'm just saying it's not like it hasn't happened before. But most likely, Connor's line in the trailer is just the sort of generic villain line we've heard before (think Green Goblin's speech about exceptional people in SM1). It's just someone saying everything happens for a reason, etc.

Also, the suit looks awesome. No argument needed.
The Lizard also looks awesome. I won't lie; I was confused at first, but the look has grown on me. He looks cool in the trailers and actual movie pics. I think it will be cool to let the actor act through the monster. This is better than having a Jurassic Park velociraptor.. And yes, the look is accurate to the comics. The film itself looks cool; it's the products and toys and stuff that make him look weird.
But it's definitely a lot closer than a Power Ranger or ski mask Green/New Goblins or Eric from That 70s Show being the face of Venom..

HIPSTER? Those ARE my opinions. No one told me that I should 'hate' on this movie. My annoyance with this movie is my opinion and mine alone and was created due to the ridiculous content that I've seen and heard from SONY.

They sign off on all the junk that is released and what was made; Stupid Origin, Croc-Lizard, mean spirited Spidey, unnecesary red lite-brite for shooters etc;

MRHJK? Have you seen any of the posters, trailers and video content that's been released for this flick?

All this "Unknown past" garbage and the fact that the marketing focuses on Spidey discovering his new abilities kinda leads one to believe that a fair portion of this flick is about Pete and him discovering his "true" beginning IE; ORIGIN

Lame.
CaptainObvious - 5/24/2012, 12:23 PM
@TheAmazingHipsterMan- Do I need to show you the Tomato-meter ratings of the first two movies?
TrueRedBlue - 5/24/2012, 2:22 PM
