The visuals were pretty good but the acting could be improved.
FightAs0ne - 7/3/2012, 4:50 PM

I liked it, but the guy playing Miles is too old and not scrawny enough.

I haven't read any of the Miles Morales Spider-Man tales yet. So, let me get this straight. He can become invisible, phase, is super agile, has heightened strength and has bio-electric shocks instead of webshooters? Can he cling to walls?
RedHood13 - 7/3/2012, 4:58 PM
Is that destorm at 1:28?
FightAs0ne - 7/3/2012, 5:03 PM
@Steelo yeah he can and he might get the webshooters soon, according to Bendis
RedHood13 - 7/3/2012, 5:08 PM
Powers
Advanced Strength: Miles possesses advanced strength, able to cause harm to a Super Powered individual with a single punch. His physical strength also extends into his legs, enabling him to be able to jump to a height of several stories in a single bound.
Advanced Durability: Miles' body is physically tougher and more resistant to some types of injury than the body of a normal human. His body is more resistant to impact forces than anything else. He can withstand great impacts, such as being thrown through a plate-glass window, that would severely injure or kill a normal human.
Superhuman Agility: Miles' agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of a regular human athlete. He is extraordinarily limber.
Wall-Crawling: Miles can cling to any surface using just his fingertips and feet. The extent to how much pressure he can stick to walls is thus far unknown, except that he can handle lifting his own weight.
Spider-Sense: When danger is present, Miles feels a buzzing sensation in his head as a sort of warning system, allowing him to react accordingly.
Spider-Sting: Miles can "zap" or temporarily paralyze his enemies by simply touching them with his hands. This provides a great advantage since Miles can end a confrontation quickly with little collateral damage.
Spider-Camouflage: Not unlike a chameleon, Miles, including his clothing, can blend into his surroundings, allowing him to sneak up on his enemies or, in some cases, flee from them.

Limehead - 7/3/2012, 5:19 PM
Still pretty badass
Knightrider - 7/3/2012, 5:22 PM
Actually a TV series could be a great way to go with this, let Parker have the movies, but use a TV to build up the interest in this new Spider-Man, as lets be honest, outside the comic book world this guy is not well known, and a half decent TV show could be a first step to changing that.
SUPERMAN2013 - 7/3/2012, 5:32 PM
Why peter parker should stay as spiderman, invisible really,I paused it soon as he did that...
SigmaCenturion - 7/3/2012, 5:36 PM
@Redhood13

FightAs0ne - 7/3/2012, 5:42 PM

FightAs0ne - 7/3/2012, 5:42 PM
@boss
UrbanKnight - 7/3/2012, 6:15 PM
[frick] you quiff!! you too bosswashed! racist closed minded mother [frick]ers!
SUPERMAN2013 - 7/3/2012, 6:24 PM
@fightasone are you joking,a spiderman doesnt need invisibility to be sneaky, whats wrong with crawling on the ceiling,if they made a movie of him fighting someone,he would just become invisible all the time and kick the shit out of the villian, and since when do spiders do all tht shit
CrashTest - 7/3/2012, 7:10 PM
Not bad, not bad. Audio needs allot of work and they need some music but for an amateur flick, that wasn't bad.

@ Grif
Come on man, what lvl are you grading this on? Professional???

@SuperMan2013
Miles have invisibility was a great way to separate him from Parker and all of the other clones of Spider man. The Drapetisca socialis is a spider often found climbing on the bark of trees. It is very hard to spot when it is not moving its body is pretty much transparent.

With that fact, this is also the comics. Osborn developed the spider, as well as many others failures. This spider could have very well be an enhanced version of the Drapetisca. Seeing as how Osborn was trying to recreate the spider the turn Peter Parker into Spider-Man.

Give the Comic a chance. I for one, as a HUGE Peter Parker fan and African American, who hates clones! Was against the idea of killing Parker off. But as a comic fan I enjoy new takes on stories as well as new twist. The industry needs this to keep new life breathing into the universe.

So I pick up the book with an open mind and was very surprised on how well the book and characters in the book were written. The Relationship with Miles, his father and uncle is simply great. This relationship is also one many people can relate to. The urban school lotto was a very nice touch! I could go on, but if you haven't you should just pick up the 1st few copies and see for yourself.
CrashTest - 7/3/2012, 7:12 PM
@Superman
Drapetisca Spiders Common Name? Invisible spider.
Optimus83 - 7/3/2012, 7:53 PM
Miles Morales need a Cameo in Amazing Spider-Man 2

Devin White for Miles Morales/Spider-Man in Amazing Spider-Man 2
jtwatchmaker - 7/3/2012, 8:00 PM

JorLBola - 7/3/2012, 8:43 PM
He doesn't seems like he is fourteen... but nicely done
bane187 - 7/3/2012, 8:45 PM
Pretty kool
MJPETTY7 - 7/3/2012, 9:15 PM
Hate Miles Morales... Sorry.
BlackWarrior - 7/3/2012, 9:17 PM
Wait, so could marvel use miles in a movie? Not sure how the rights work, but anyway i too enjoy miles story so far. I am not a fan of the ultimates since they killed off everybody and made everyone go crazy, but I am liking the new Spider-man and this short is pretty good, would like to see more.
AGENTJAY1130 - 7/3/2012, 9:25 PM
WOW!! THIS CAN WORK!! GET IT DONE MARVEL!!
Thegoddamnbatman52 - 7/3/2012, 9:32 PM
@black warrior that's what's great abut the ultimate universe, they can experiment by killing off different characters and it doesent effect the main 616 universe, I picked up the first couple of issues of this and I loved it, miles is such a great character
StrangeHero - 7/3/2012, 10:03 PM
@Black Warrior - ya, you can blame that on Jeph Loeb. That d-bag thought the ultimate U was too "realistic" and went on a killing spree. Then he decided that he didn't wanna keep writing it anymore, so he left to work on their tv production. prick! (Loeb, not you. I'm sure you're an OK guy)
MJPETTY7 - 7/3/2012, 10:12 PM
"Pffffftttt Racist haha everyone is racist so suck a dick about it. I hate miles not because hes some mix raced piece of garbage , I hate him because he is a prime example of 1. marvel being lazy 2. Caving into "theres not enough ethnic characters" 3.why not name him spider-boy lol jk but really give him a name along the lines of scarletspider.....

It would be different if miles was peter's son/grandson/great grandson..... and the whole idea of spiderman can be passed on through out the family ect ect..... not just handed off like its some "pay it forward " shit ."

COMPLETELY AGREE!!!
ibravosp5 - 7/3/2012, 10:42 PM
This is Awsome. But in the comics we'll never know when he gets web powers
TonyChu - 7/3/2012, 10:49 PM
I love the criticism towards Mile Morales Spiderman it just proves ignorance is bliss. Ultimate Spiderman is an amazing read and is by far the only series from the Ultimate line that any one should give a damn about.
Mrsinister - 7/3/2012, 11:15 PM
Awesome!!! Love miles!
Robert - 7/3/2012, 11:46 PM
Great job.
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:33 AM
Miles in the comics is in brooklyn, in this it looks like it takes place in south central L.A.
MilesMorales - 7/4/2012, 5:03 AM
Good production but DONALD GLOVER FOR ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN! He is to Ultimate Spidey as Samuel L Jackson is to Ultimate Nick Fury. (And Nick Fury Jr 616)
UrbanKnight - 7/4/2012, 6:08 AM
"Racist haha everyone is racist..."
"I hate miles not because hes some mix raced piece of garbage"

Keep talking that sh!t from the comfort and safety of your own home bitch!!!

Webhead007 Nah.. that aint South Central LA, im FROM south central so that motha [frick]a BossWalshit is lucky not to have to run into me in person!! much less there!lol

Anyway, it looks like it could be other parts of LA that were substituded for brooklyn?
ClarkFarley2012 - 7/4/2012, 6:45 AM
Hey hey not bad. Waiting on part 2.
nosnegrom - 7/4/2012, 7:42 AM
I liked ultimate spiderman so it will take me a while to like this
CrashTest - 7/4/2012, 9:54 AM
@BossWalsh
So Im assuming you Hate the Red Hulk and any other clones of heroes correct?

"Caving into "theres not enough ethnic characters"
Of course they are! Because Marvel is a business and every SMART business knows that you have to cater to more than one audience! Marvel also has ALWASY been one to bridge the gap between their books and the real world. Recent Example, Astonishing X-men issue 51. Would a society where only Caucasian are heroes and get super powers be realistic? Lets reverse that, Would it be realistic to have only African American Heroes with super powers? Marvel Promote values of how our society should be and the challenges we face as a society. Why not expand the universe and open the doors for new possibility???

"why not name him spider-boy lol jk but really give him a name along the lines of scarlet spider"

Peter Parker got his powers in High School, was he called Spider Boy? By naming the Scarlet Spider, the Scarlet Spider. Marvel is able to separate him from Parker.
Your missing the whole point in Miles taking the Spider-Man Title. People are pissed that he is being call Spider-Man. They are making him earn the name. Not only by taking this name dose he take on the Responsibility that comes with the name, "With great Power Comes Great Responsibility". But he is also taking on all of Spider-Man enemies who though Spider-man to be dead.

This is a great set up for the story. You should give the book chance with an open mind before you pass judgment on it.

CrashTest - 7/4/2012, 9:59 AM
And if you are Racist, why even read Marvel Comics? You know Joe Quesada is Cuban right? I would think you wouldn't want to support a Business that promotes equal opportunities for all.
ChubbyDeadpool - 7/4/2012, 10:38 AM
I knew nothing of the Morales character or his abilities. As a FanFilm, it was done quite well IMO. FAR better than most of the Deadpool dreck out there! But reading the list of powers that he has -- I'm not so sure about it. I don't care about the colour of his skin, I just don't like that his clothes can turn invisible/camoflage. That's pretty lame. The "sting" is a nice touch (no pun intended) and from what I've read, Miles is a scrawny kid, not a beefy guy in his 20's - but artistic license, I guess. I'm a fat guy in a Deadpool bodysock so to each their own.
OtakuPapi - 7/4/2012, 10:45 AM
If anyone has been reading SpiderMen it reads like a movie i've been dumbfounded by the first two books. It makes me really want to see a Miles Morales Ultimate Spider Man movie just so it can lead into the Spider Men movie that is currently my dream project. As a matter of fact anything Ultimate based.Especially the current Ultimates book,Ultimate universe books read like graphic novels
Dedpool - 7/4/2012, 4:24 PM
Nice!! Though I'm not liking how it looks like Cali and not NYC.
Scabsallover - 7/4/2012, 11:49 PM
Whoa, I see Devin like every day, didn't know he was working on this.
KidHaru - 7/5/2012, 1:11 AM
Hey everyone! I'm glad a number of people are seeming to enjoy the short. I'm sorry about some of the inconsistencies from the comic like Miles being 13. Miles being so young and having such a different outlook on the world is one of the things I really love and find great about him! I'm a big fan of Miles and hope to do him justice in later installments as I work on improving my acting and hopefully deliver as close to what a true Ultimate Spiderman series should be! :)
UrbanKnight - 7/5/2012, 1:21 AM
KidHaru good work man keep it up. Btw where was this filmed?
UrbanKnight - 7/5/2012, 1:28 AM
BossWalshit everyone is a lil racist? lol. Tell that to all those conquered and/or enslaved colored people by "a lil racist" whites dumdass sh!t!

"I hate you because of how stupid you act or how you blatantly show your ignorance."

You hate now two? Ironic.. you making yourself to be hate material to others right now.
Hate and racism teaches hate and racism dipsh!t!
Btw my brother is gay and he'll [frick] yo up! Real talk!

Peep this BossWalshit...
Thanks to this country's long harsh history of racism and hate, not to mention unequal rights to a good education, it created these impoverished barrio/ghettos i live in to this day!
Resulting in minorities in inner-citys to turn and hate each other.

Its not something to taken lightly!!

Just because YOU dont go through the sh!t we go though doesnt mean its over!
I think people can be the judge of who's the ignorant idiot is in this exchange, *hint hint* its you.
KidHaru - 7/5/2012, 3:38 AM
@UrbanKnight we shot it in the lower LA area
UrbanKnight - 7/5/2012, 4:26 AM
@kidharu really? how low? it looks like it could be in the westside by usc maybe.
KidHaru - 7/5/2012, 12:00 PM
I'm horrible with locations so maybe. All I remember is it's not that far from the Buena Park area haha
