The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

What is the deal with gay designers/directors and bulged-out superhero outfits?

xcrementus - 8/4/2012, 1:27 AM
nothing says badass like a studded codpiece, with a length of chain from it to a chain-collar. Wolverine and Batman should both get one of those.
Danbojohnj - 8/4/2012, 1:37 AM
Disgusting.
RamonSuarez - 8/4/2012, 1:44 AM
Let us face the facts.

Aside from the Crow and Blade, the 1990s were not a very good decade for the superhero flick.

Shit like this was all the rave.

@robertneville with you on that. Dredd, The Phantom, The Shadow, Batman and Robin, Batman Forever, Rocketeer, Tank Girl, Spawn ... the list goes on and on.
Utter trash. TDKR doesn't like so bad all of a sudden

You Sir, do not, I repeat DO NOT even attempt to disrespect The Rocketeer in any way, shape or form. Shame on you, you have no heart and are clearly dead inside.

That is all.

omg i thought nothing was worse than stallones outfit, translation from comic book to real life looses something when done by fashon house designers with no understanding, too camp and brains awash with there own grandure laced with pink ladies no doubt.

Sparrowsabre7 - 8/4/2012, 3:58 AM
Wow, that is some pretty poor sketching, even taking the designs out of the equation...
gaikinger - 8/4/2012, 4:14 AM
Just saw The Raid last night on Blu Ray...meh.
sameoldthing - 8/4/2012, 5:16 AM
Pathetic designs..someone mentioned the art looked like it was drawn by Rob Liefeld, that's funny.
It's hard to tell the difference between this garbage & Liefeld "art".

In the end,the Stallone suit didn't look like these designs much, aside from the codpiece & tight undergarment.
It was more accurate to comic book design..Karl Urban uniform is a 1,000 times better.
SmellofDuty - 8/4/2012, 5:25 AM
Chainmail over your dick is classic.
INSTANTJUSTICE - 8/4/2012, 5:40 AM
The shocking thing is Stallone's 'outfit' ended up more show-offy, shiny and blingy, and with a larger cod-piece, than these very effeminate yet quieter Versace designs.

Both were so totally wrong for Judge Dredd that a a blind man could see it. This point is driven home with a bullet and made completely evident by the brilliant and appropriate biker-uniform in the new DREDD film.
AlexDeLarge87 - 8/4/2012, 6:02 AM
tea@ I cant. I have addiction. ;)
inky - 8/4/2012, 6:55 AM
no you have to give this one to liefeld his designs would have been better, to be honest a monkey with a pencils designs would have been better.
fashon designers are what they are idiotic little gay guys with giant ego's and no grasp on reality thus most die young a right pain in the arse :)
Sortis - 8/4/2012, 7:18 AM
monkeyhead78 - 8/4/2012, 7:23 AM
Theres no way these are concept art! Surely this was a primary school competition???
kevberg - 8/4/2012, 9:11 AM
The final looked much better.I don't mind Urban's Dredd, but it NEEDS the Eagle. the directors excuse is bullshit. it just is.
aztecRaingod - 8/4/2012, 9:16 AM
Shit movie
AlternateNo4 - 8/4/2012, 9:25 AM
ooh! it doesn't fit into my ridiculously narrow definition of art, so i will label it sucky and use it as an excuse to make homophobic jokes!!! so typical.

for the record, the job of an ILLUSTRATOR is to draw. the job of a designer is to DESIGN. it's helpful to know how to draw, of course, but not essential. so the pecs are oversized and squared off, and the torsos are out of proportion, and no, he doesn't pay much attention to light sources or neatness. because it's useful in showing the important thing, which is the DESIGN of the piece, not how it will APPEAR on the actor. ever notice that when they do women's designs, the legs are freakishly long and the feet look like geisha feet? and that often they don't color in the lines, they just slosh some marker around? same thing.

these are concept art, yes, but clearly they're sketches. versace would have had illustrators to clean these up and make them look more realistic if that had been his intention.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/4/2012, 9:50 AM
Looks like a stripper
Floke - 8/4/2012, 11:49 AM
That is not concept art! It is clearly a cry out for help.. It looks like the final drawing of a person who just od:ed on apple martinis before hitting the road on a magical rainbow to cloud city.
Dmon - 8/4/2012, 1:22 PM
If they could take the shoulders from the first one and add them to Karl Urban's suit then it would be perfect.
musashi - 8/4/2012, 2:04 PM
The Rocketeer? I like it!!
CorndogBurglar - 8/4/2012, 3:06 PM
Do you guys really have no idea who Gianni Versace is? Or was, I should say...
Luther - 8/4/2012, 3:13 PM
Wow, the intelligence/respect level in here never ceases to amaze me. AlternateNo4, hit it right on the head. I swear, this site gets worse everyday.
AlternateNo4 - 8/4/2012, 3:28 PM
@Luther why thank you sir (or madam, in the unlikely case your username is a red herring...)
