Rob Liefeld Vs. BATMAN's Scott Snyder: Who Won The Twitter Battle?
After Rob Liefeld's very public break-up with DC Comics this week the meltdown continues as the creator of Deadpool conducted a battle of words via Twitter with Swamp Thing and Batman comic book writer, Scott Snyder. A must read!
Earlier this week Liefeld announced via Twitter that he was leaving DC Comics. The 2012 September zero issues for all three titles; “Deathstroke”, “Grifter” and “Savage Hawkman” would be his last.
“Reasons are the same as everyone’s that you hear. I lasted a few months longer than I thought possible… Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests"
He then wrote a much more detailed account of the issues that he faced while working at DC Comics, which you can read by clicking here. But wait, there's more! The train wreck just keeps chugging along as Scott Snyder contacted Liefeld via private messages on Twitter, which Rob posted part of in the images you see below, and then the two took the battle public.
Rob Liefeld: It’s not you. It never has been. It’s Batman.
Scott Snyder: I can assure you batman doesn’t sell the way it does because it’s Batman. It sells that way because of me and Greg (Capullo).
Rob Liefeld: Get over yourself you pretentious prick @Ssnyder1835
Rob Liefeld: Been berated in DM’s by @Ssnyder1835 this morning. Excuse me if I don’t marvel at your amazing abilities to write Batman. Piss off.
Rob Liefeld: I’d like to think that if your going to wave your ego around on Batman you’d remember all that came before you. Holeee crap
Rob Liefeld: Average Batman book sells 80k. ‘Nuff said.
Scott Snyder: Nice! Your Twitter feeds the best thing you’ve written all year :-)
Rob Liefeld: Of course, because its not edited
Scott Snyder: Aw, I’ll give you credit Rob! :) Batman might sell inspite of me and @GregCapullo as u say, but deathstroke & Hawkman failed because of you!
Scott Snyder: Credit where it’s due, brother :-) and that’s all I’ll say on that. Ah, comics.
Rob Liefeld: my sales went up on those books @Ssnyder1835 sorry bud.
Scott Snyder: Lol. And you can put that in your pouch and keep it for later :-)
Rob Liefeld: one word, HAUNT. 2 words SWAMP THING – not all creations equal
Rob Liefeld: Batman is the number one selling character in the history of the biz. Period. End of story. Will endure beyond creator careers
Here is a Tweet that Rob Liefeld later deleted.
Of course many are wondering if Liefeld will head over to Marvel, but Rob didn't help himself there as he got into another Twitter battle with Marvel editor Tom Brevoort. A battle that began when a user asked Tom if Marvel would add Liefeld to their stable.
Tom Brevoort: After that Twitter flame-out, I can’t say I’d be in a hurry to get onto that train.
(Tom tweeted a few more comments backing the DC Comics' editor that Liefeld had problems working with.)
Rob Liefeld: Someone told me that loser fat ass Brevoort was talking trash about me today. I dropped him awhile back . I gotta coach football games..out
Rob Liefeld: Sorry they passed you over for EIC Tommy B. Get over it and get back to mixing and matching Avengers and X-Men #doucher
Rob Liefeld: I know, Tommy B, why don’t u all tell Kirkman how “concerned” u are for his future post Marvel. That’s our funniest bit that we HOWL at.
Tom Brevoort: You remain a sweetheart, Rob. Don’t go changing. Also, feel free to say any of this to my face, you feckless bully.
Tom Brevoort: Takes a big man to go postal publicly on a young editor like that. #kickspuppiestoo
Rob Liefeld: happy to @TomBrevoort then u can bump me with your gut
Rob Liefeld: And FYI, I don’t drink. Haven’t touched liquor in 30 years.
