Rob Liefeld Vs. BATMAN's Scott Snyder: Who Won The Twitter Battle?

After Rob Liefeld's very public break-up with DC Comics this week the meltdown continues as the creator of Deadpool conducted a battle of words via Twitter with Swamp Thing and Batman comic book writer, Scott Snyder. A must read!

Earlier this week Liefeld announced via Twitter that he was leaving DC Comics. The 2012 September zero issues for all three titles; “Deathstroke”, “Grifter” and “Savage Hawkman” would be his last.
“Reasons are the same as everyone’s that you hear. I lasted a few months longer than I thought possible… Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests"

He then wrote a much more detailed account of the issues that he faced while working at DC Comics, which you can read by clicking here. But wait, there's more! The train wreck just keeps chugging along as Scott Snyder contacted Liefeld via private messages on Twitter, which Rob posted part of in the images you see below, and then the two took the battle public.

Rob Liefeld: It’s not you. It never has been. It’s Batman.

Scott Snyder: I can assure you batman doesn’t sell the way it does because it’s Batman. It sells that way because of me and Greg (Capullo).

Rob Liefeld: Get over yourself you pretentious prick @Ssnyder1835

Rob Liefeld: Been berated in DM’s by @Ssnyder1835 this morning. Excuse me if I don’t marvel at your amazing abilities to write Batman. Piss off.

Rob Liefeld: I’d like to think that if your going to wave your ego around on Batman you’d remember all that came before you. Holeee crap

Rob Liefeld: Average Batman book sells 80k. ‘Nuff said.

Scott Snyder: Nice! Your Twitter feeds the best thing you’ve written all year :-)

Rob Liefeld: Of course, because its not edited

Scott Snyder: Aw, I’ll give you credit Rob! :) Batman might sell inspite of me and @GregCapullo as u say, but deathstroke & Hawkman failed because of you!

Scott Snyder: Credit where it’s due, brother :-) and that’s all I’ll say on that. Ah, comics.

Rob Liefeld: my sales went up on those books @Ssnyder1835 sorry bud.

Scott Snyder: Lol. And you can put that in your pouch and keep it for later :-)

Rob Liefeld: one word, HAUNT. 2 words SWAMP THING – not all creations equal

Rob Liefeld: Batman is the number one selling character in the history of the biz. Period. End of story. Will endure beyond creator careers

Here is a Tweet that Rob Liefeld later deleted.

Of course many are wondering if Liefeld will head over to Marvel, but Rob didn't help himself there as he got into another Twitter battle with Marvel editor Tom Brevoort. A battle that began when a user asked Tom if Marvel would add Liefeld to their stable.

Tom Brevoort: After that Twitter flame-out, I can’t say I’d be in a hurry to get onto that train.

(Tom tweeted a few more comments backing the DC Comics' editor that Liefeld had problems working with.)

Rob Liefeld: Someone told me that loser fat ass Brevoort was talking trash about me today. I dropped him awhile back . I gotta coach football games..out

Rob Liefeld: Sorry they passed you over for EIC Tommy B. Get over it and get back to mixing and matching Avengers and X-Men #doucher

Rob Liefeld: I know, Tommy B, why don’t u all tell Kirkman how “concerned” u are for his future post Marvel. That’s our funniest bit that we HOWL at.

Tom Brevoort: You remain a sweetheart, Rob. Don’t go changing. Also, feel free to say any of this to my face, you feckless bully.

Tom Brevoort: Takes a big man to go postal publicly on a young editor like that. #kickspuppiestoo

Rob Liefeld: happy to @TomBrevoort then u can bump me with your gut

Rob Liefeld: And FYI, I don’t drink. Haven’t touched liquor in 30 years.

Rob liefeld dominated that tweeter conversation! You go Rob!
masterhater - 8/25/2012, 6:46 PM
I love that, "Of course, because its not edited"! Burn
Dynamo - 8/25/2012, 6:50 PM
Snyder burned him.
CaptainObvious - 8/25/2012, 6:58 PM
Liefeld is jealous that Snyder's Batman sells more copies and gets better reviews than his "work."

Go to hell, Liefeld. Learn how to draw hands, feet, and women and then maybe we'll listen to your criticisms.
PaulRom - 8/25/2012, 6:59 PM
Liefeld is a complete douchebag. Though he does have a bit of a point. Batman will sell regardless of the creative team involved, simply because it's Batman.

Snyder had some great comments against Liefeld though. "Your Twitter feed's the best thing you've written all year." #Owned
PaulRom - 8/25/2012, 7:03 PM
And yeah, Liefeld seems to be jealous of Snyder's work. And for good reason, because Batman is the best New 52 title so far.
JordanKing - 8/25/2012, 7:05 PM
I love the fact Liefeld's screen is cracked. That's just so... him.
zachman2013 - 8/25/2012, 7:07 PM
Liefeld should go fuggin die
BobGarlen - 8/25/2012, 7:07 PM
Rob Liefeld is a hack who could barely draw in the 90’s and can’t draw worth a shit now. He has been acting for years that he’s Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Will Eisner combined but his only lasting contribution to any comic book company or fan was a character he didn’t even [frick]ing evolve. When he’s tired of acting like the pretentious bastard he is and take his ego out of the writing game maybe he can get something done critically accepted.
CaptainObvious - 8/25/2012, 7:08 PM
It's true. Batman sells well because it's Batman. But it sells more and more people enjoy it now more than ever because of Snyder and Capullo.

Hardly anybody buys anything with Liefeld's name on it because his art is terrible. Nobody looks like a normal human being in his work.
Techinsane - 8/25/2012, 7:15 PM
Looks, like Rob, posted more reasons why he left and in all fairness seem like office politics as i have certainly experienced my my line of work. As for the ego exchanges it is so sad to read this type of stuff about who outsells who.
AUSSYACE - 8/25/2012, 7:34 PM
Good Riddance Rob...

Run back to Marvel you idiot...
Asterisk - 8/25/2012, 7:36 PM
Wow. As if I needed more reason to hate Liefeld and love Snyder.

@G3n2r4lzZoD9 OMG the proportions on that woman lmao. Tell me that's real.
nailbiter111 - 8/25/2012, 8:07 PM
my favorite quote: "Scott Snyder: Nice! Your Twitter feeds the best thing you’ve written all year :-)"

that's hilarious!
Dunejedi - 8/25/2012, 8:09 PM
I never, at any time, understood how Liefeld got work. I hope this is the beginning of his end in comics. Unprofessional on top of talentless? See ya.
ATrueHero1987 - 8/25/2012, 8:11 PM
That twitter convo was [frick]in....HILARIOUS
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/25/2012, 8:15 PM
well they say the best artists steal lol, naw you guys are too hard on Rob, its one thing to draw and make up your own characters ......but to say a well known character is selling well because you jumped on board YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS after he/she was created is [frick]ing stupid and the guy should be fired.
longbowhunter - 8/25/2012, 8:16 PM
I cant fault Liefield for leaving. Sounds like there is some real Gestapo style editing going on at DC. But he is a shitty creator all the way around and I'm glad he's gone either way. Lay off Snyder, homeboy has got the Midas touch.
CPBuff22 - 8/25/2012, 8:17 PM
Even though Rob Liefeld cant draw to save his life, he totally won that Twitter feud.

Also a guy who writes for a characters that wears a utility belt shouldn't throw stones a guy who likes to dra tiny pouches. Seems hypocritical.
TimelessUnknown - 8/25/2012, 8:19 PM
I find it hard to believe that Liefeld still has fans after that, as if there wasn't enough to dislike about the guy. As for his "Batman sells because it's Batman." comment, there is some truth to this, but the doesn't explain why the other Batman titles don't sell as well as Snyder's. Obviously, the man is a great writer, and with Capullo doing the art, it's a winning combination. Liefeld just seems to be ranting for the hell of it.
mawilli4 - 8/25/2012, 8:19 PM
Wow. What happened to professionalism? I.e. keeping your mouth shut. Scott and Rob should be ashamed of themselves, and Tom should have stayed out of it. They sound like a bunch of 15 year old girls arguing over who makes out with their Boyfriend more.
rocky - 8/25/2012, 8:20 PM
Liefeld comes across as someone who is right on the edge of going postal. I hope the cat takes a few steps back calms down or gets help.

Snyder didn't come across as a class act either, only by comparison. He should've ended the back and forth early on and let Liefeld argue by himself.

Bragging about his Batman sales? come on now.
ShadesAtKnightII - 8/25/2012, 8:20 PM
Liefeld, you're a fool.
ArtisticErotic - 8/25/2012, 8:20 PM
Bunch of [frick]ing idiots. No one wonder people look down at this medium as a joke cause that's exactly what it is.
Dev7 - 8/25/2012, 8:22 PM
NEEERD FIGHT!!!!
dageekundaground - 8/25/2012, 8:23 PM
Liefeld is a bum ....nuff said.
longbowhunter - 8/25/2012, 8:24 PM
True enough Batman comics always sell. But after all the praise Scott Snyder has been given for his work on Detective and Batman I think he more than deserves to take some credit. Literally everyone I know reads Batman because Scott Snyder's name is on the cover.
Fogs - 8/25/2012, 8:24 PM
Liefeld = imbecile without talent. As George Carlin would say, he should be locked in a portable toilet and be set on fire.
GodzillaKart - 8/25/2012, 8:34 PM
Together, their penises mesure 4 inches.
Vital - 8/25/2012, 8:37 PM
Explain to me how Rob won those fights lol? Yeah, didn't think so. Synder kicked his ass verbally, then, Tom did the right thing, by taking the high road.
Vital - 8/25/2012, 8:37 PM
@cipher, I deliver mining equipment on a truck for a living, you can't pick that shit up lol. :P Unless you use a forklift.
MGS - 8/25/2012, 8:39 PM
"Twitter is a nonstop series of pointless arguments by people I don't care about. It's like Thanksgiving"

- Conan O'Brien

This is why I don't bother with Twit. Liefeld is just being himself... a douche. Snyder is the more smarter an talented guy and should have known better and just walk away from that childish bickering.

DEATHbyEXILE - 8/25/2012, 8:43 PM
Rob Liefeld...
ssnyder1835 - 8/25/2012, 8:47 PM
Hey guys - it's Scott Snyder. I just wanted to say again, sorry for engaging in the first place. You're right, should have kept quiet. S
HeadPool420 - 8/25/2012, 8:49 PM
