The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

Isn't that cool! Henry Flint's artwork done in a cartoon kind of way. Has a Sin City kind of vibe.

Nice way to promote the film. :)

That was pretty cool. I'm really hoping this makes enough to get some sequels.

But in a better film with better, more interesting characters, and a different look at violence.

@ kalel26

its budget was $45,000,000,i suppose if it made $150,000,000 we would get a sequel.

bring on the dark judges.

Instant, do you think the sex scene stuff (don't want to say too much to spoil it) is necessary in the film? I think that entire sequence is unnecessary. I genuinely disliked it.

You don't need to read any Dredd comics to be ready for this film. It lays the groundwork well enough for the uninitiated. See the film then buy the comics.

It's not a sex-scene. It's an impressionist image that's suggestive of sexual fantasy. You read the script, you should know that.

No, I know, I just am interested in the character and I hear all kinds of good things. Plus, I wanna wash the taste of the Stallone movie out of my mouth.

But I got all the Batman/Judge Dredd now so I'm good. About to read Judgement Over Gotham.

Most of the Batman crossovers are fairly bland and not really much to do with Dredd on his usual beat.

Start around Casefiles 4 if you want the old stuff or go for more modern stuff like The Pit (especially), Mandroid, Satan's Island, America, Origins or Tour of Duty.
