Oscar-winning special effects veteran, Chris Corbuld, has been creating vehicles for all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films. He began in 2005's Batman Begins with the half Lamborghini, half tank vehicle, The Tumbler, and then the Batpod for the sequel, The Dark Knight. And lastly he put together Batman's flying vehicle, "The Bat," for The Dark Knight Rises. But Corbuld didn't want to conquer the skies, he was thinking of an water vehicle instead. "I was heavily pushing for a Batboat," he said. "I love working on water and thought it would have been a great Bat-vehicle. Chris felt that it wasn't big enough for the last in his trilogy so he went for [The Bat instead]."

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download on December 4th. The film stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John "Robin" Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul.

Ya I'm curious to how a bat boat would have looked like.
Brady1138 - 11/26/2012, 10:26 AM
They could have used it to explain how Batman escaped the nuke.
christianroch - 11/26/2012, 10:28 AM
I prefer a flying vehicle.
Funsize - 11/26/2012, 10:28 AM
I wonder if we'll see concept art on it. Maybe extras on the bluray?
Maxi91291 - 11/26/2012, 10:34 AM
The Batboat ! *cancer voice*

And yes, it does come in black

imnotwearinghockeypants - 11/26/2012, 10:52 AM
Hard to top the ridiculousness of 'The Bat'.
Dragon316ca - 11/26/2012, 10:56 AM
Sorry, Colbould. I was rooting for a pair of Bat-Rocket boots :P
DrHorrible - 11/26/2012, 11:04 AM
I'd rather them have the Batboat than the floating scrap heap known as "The Bat".
ShadesAtKnightII - 11/26/2012, 11:15 AM
I would love to see what a Nolanized Batboat would have looked like.
StrangerX - 11/26/2012, 11:20 AM
All u would with the boat is The Penguin, The Joker, The Riddler and that dehydrating gun or whatever it was from the West film.
elcaballerooscuro92 - 11/26/2012, 11:44 AM
that would have explainde how did he got back into gotham
LFANCH - 11/26/2012, 12:02 PM
I know exactly what the bat boat would have looked like, take the tumbler, remove the wheels and add on a propeller. done. It's actually pretty much the same way they made the bat. just a different propeller.
AmazingFantasy - 11/26/2012, 12:12 PM
HOLY POINTLESS GADGET BATMAN
misfitmedic - 11/26/2012, 12:13 PM
I think it would have been a mix of a tank and a speedboat
Malacos - 11/26/2012, 12:19 PM
am i the only one that thinks the bat looks like a mechanical crab from the top?
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 11/26/2012, 12:22 PM
That would have been sick! But I had a feeling the plane would be with he last one.
DarthBob - 11/26/2012, 12:27 PM
Couldn't have been any more ridiculous than The Bat! Would the Bat Boat come complete with Bat Shark Repellent?
Nomis1800 - 11/26/2012, 12:38 PM
Would've loved to see a boat but nothing can surpass The Bat! Absolutely stunning vehicle!!!
DaCottDamnBatman - 11/26/2012, 1:19 PM
@MAMIMUS101 YEA ME TO SINCE THE BAT LOOKED LIKE A BEETLE
KingEmperor - 11/26/2012, 1:38 PM
A boat would've been cool, but Batman wouldn't have been able to do much with it than he did with the Bat.
Dickel - 11/26/2012, 1:46 PM
Ah right, the boat that batman would have escaped on right before the explosion?
Nolan: "Nah, we can't have a Bat-boat in it, because I like ambiguous endings, because I'm a bit of a choad."
titansupes - 11/26/2012, 2:49 PM
^There was nothing ambiguous about TDKR's ending. Or TDK. Or BB. Or Memento. Or Insomnia. Inceptions's the only one.
titansupes - 11/26/2012, 2:51 PM
Oh, and nothing ambiguous about The Prestige's ending, either.
Wingding - 11/26/2012, 3:10 PM
I'm with @Brady1138 that would've been a neat way to explain how he survived the nuke. He could've flown low enough and dropped into the boat at the eve of the city or something...
Wingding - 11/26/2012, 3:10 PM
Edge***
Wingding - 11/26/2012, 3:12 PM
@titansupes I believe the ambiguousness he is taking about, is how Bruce got out of The Bat and survived that nuclear explosion
Preston - 11/26/2012, 5:58 PM

Bomb, Robin, and a Batboat, was this supposed to be a re-imagining of BATMAN (1966)?!?

Wow! That's would've been interesting to see. Going by The Bat, I'm sure the design wouldn't be very sleek though.

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this right, but on an episode(been awhile since I've seen it) of B:TAS, Batman was sealed in an oil drum, and was was thrown into the water. Batman then remotely accessed his Batboat and shot its anchor into the oil drum lid to escape.

What I'm saying is, the Batboat is bad ass.
Jdo4031 - 11/26/2012, 7:02 PM
DKR Was just Bad move from start to finish Really people open your eyes, things just did not make logical since, A winy batman in hiding for 8 years, a prison with a big whole at the top, that people Cant get out of, well unless they all work together, fixing a broken back with a hit to it and some rope, getting back into America, then into blocked off Gotham City with out no money, this is just the start, its a bad movie people. and I was board from start to finish.
DravinClaw - 11/26/2012, 7:46 PM
so I guess no Nolanized Bat-Shark repellent
AstroZombie - 11/26/2012, 8:30 PM
The Bat is just a helicopter with the blades on the bottom, and the stabilizers on the front. Whats so hard to believe about that?
Azazel1 - 11/27/2012, 6:47 AM
BEST CBM of the year

Nolan would have made the bat boat like everything else, top class

Nolan for Best Director...
