In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

Man Of Steel was directed by Zack Snyder, from a script written by David Goyer. The cast includes: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Ayelet Zurer, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Laurence Fishburne and Richard Schiff. In theaters June 14th, 2013!

Man of Steel and Star Trek Into Darkness are the BEST movies of 2013, I really hope a sequel and more Superhero soinoffs are being made at WB and Dc with Snyder Goyer and Nolan making them!
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 2:38 PM
cool stuff, but doesn't anyone know what a pencil is anymore? :)

most insane and bestest cbm ever!
ALegendaryPanda - 6/25/2013, 2:41 PM
Dat war dog...
LordoftheThrones26 - 6/25/2013, 2:41 PM
I'd like to see more of Krypton in the sequel! Heck I thimk a Jor-El spinoff with Russel Crowe would be EPIC!!!
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 2:44 PM
Saw it yesterday
the movie was ... good.
Nothing more, nothing less. Good.
Good story, some great acting (Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane), some outstanding performances as well
(Kevin Costner, Russel Crowe and Ayelet Zurer)

Kudos for Goyer for crafting some really good dialogues and adding some really great drama too.
I must say I'm pretty impressed.

Zimmer did a really good job as well.

Some great scenes : opening sequence, tornado, Lois investigation, Kal El dream sequence - just to name a few.
(Zod tv speech and was the highlight. Loved the church scene too)

But man, this movie has one serious FLAW.

The action in this movie is so over the top it makes Michael Bay cringe.
Everything in this movie blows up. I MEAN EVERYTHING.
Trains, wagons, dishwashers, glass, flowers.
You just painted a fence ? BOOM. It's gone
Fixed that broken window ? BOOM. Superman flyed by.
Nice cat. What's his name ? BOOM. Nevermind
Boy, does in Kansas everything blows ?!

There are so many buildings collapsing in this movie I almost got a seizure.

Some scenes are just pure mayhem. I know Hollywood has a tendency to exaggerate, but hey, there are still some standards.

We got spaceships, jets, bombs, World Engine, buildings collapsing, street fights. You name it. All of it in one (!) 45 minutes long action sequence.

And sometimes you just can't see shit. During the World Engine vs Clark scene i couldn't see god damn thing. Not a god damn thing.
Where the [frick] did the editor go ? Same thing during the street fights.

Effects were good. Nothing breathtaking. Just good.

ufff ....

overall 6/10. Good movie, missed opportunity. Sometimes less is better.

My advice for the sequel : More Nolan (practical effects), less Bay
Not the other way around.

Shannon was good.
Fishburne too.
(still Zod and Perry were a rather one dimensional characters)

As for Snyder - superb job in drama department. Other than that ... meh

Man.. the more i see of Krypton the more i want a prequel
ManofSteel23 - 6/25/2013, 2:44 PM
what I dont get is, those babys in the sacks in the ''fortress'' how come they was still alive and why wasnt they like harvested? or was they dead,or waiting for the codex? I duno
LordoftheThrones26 - 6/25/2013, 2:44 PM
I think having a prologue on Krypton where Brainiac steals Kandor would be an awesome way to start the sequel!
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 2:45 PM
ps. the movie look so much like Matrix. Now i now why
LordoftheThrones26 - 6/25/2013, 2:47 PM
Goyer is an awesome screenwritter and just cause a guy writes good comic books DOES NOT mean he can write hood screenplays! I think Man of Steel is an AWESOME AND EPIC way to start a new franchise!
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 2:47 PM
if you are complaining about awesome action in a cbm, i don't know what you are doing watching a cbm, then. maybe watch an iron man comedy if amazing comic book-action is not your thing?
LordoftheThrones26 - 6/25/2013, 2:48 PM
@Supercat yeah these two movies are epic and Pacific Rim will be awesome too!
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 2:50 PM
seen it a bunch of times. currently at 9.5/10
MrReese - 6/25/2013, 2:51 PM
Krypton looked awesome.
pesmerga44 - 6/25/2013, 2:51 PM
One thing that was kinda weird to me was that Krypton even had any other life on the planet. If they were so desperate for energy that they drilled their own planetary core I expected the planet to be like Coruscant or a industry world in Warhammer 40k with the entire planet being one large city over everything.
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 2:53 PM

i don't think the action was amazing. It was over the top. Some touch (even small) of realism would be nice. I know we are talking about Superman but still ...
LordoftheThrones26 - 6/25/2013, 2:53 PM
I hinestly dont get why people are complaining about the action! At least in this ine we see Superman punch someone! And I hate people are comparing this movie to the Donner Superman! This is a TOTAL REBOOT!!! The last time we had a movie like the Donner Superman it was Superman returns and thwt movie SUCKED!! Man of Steel is one of the BEST reboots I've seen and I hope to see many more Man of Steel sequels alongside more Dc hero movie and JUSTICE LEAGUE!!!
Emjeed - 6/25/2013, 2:53 PM
I'm listening to the soundtrack album.. been listening to it since last night.. This music is beast and Ominous
SigmaCenturion - 6/25/2013, 2:53 PM
Meh don't care for the idea of fantasy style elements on krypton. Riding animals... technologically advance civilization yeahhhhhhhhh
billytwohats - 6/25/2013, 2:54 PM
I'm sad that it looks like Goyer and Snyder are gonna be in charge of the DC universe. So much talent out there and this is what we get. If Goyer and Snyder do Batman then I'll cry uncontrollably and never watch a CBM ever again.
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 2:55 PM
@Pesmerga44 - opposite from humans, kryptonians have a symbiotic relationship to their world and nature
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 2:57 PM
@jerryblake - i guess you have never read a superman comic before. the movie was a superman comic come to life. the whole movie did big blue justice. these aren't rom-coms, they are supposed to be dynamic and exciting movies based on comics, which are dynamic and exciting
Emjeed - 6/25/2013, 2:57 PM
@Jollem is right.. when you read the novelization you will understand that their animals are genetically altered . Like H'raka has AI navigational systems, a robot dock and some part of it are metallic.
TheWolverine08 - 6/25/2013, 3:00 PM
People were so excited for this film that now, they refuse to see the flaws. The action WAS overdone. It was cool at first, then towards the end, it became gratuitous, and it felt like the movie was just obnoxiously flexing its action muscles.
TheWolverine08 - 6/25/2013, 3:02 PM
I'm most excited to see the Wolverine! I'm hoping my favorite character finally gets a great movie. Pacific Rim and Thor: The Dark World should be epic too.
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 3:03 PM

nah, i red quite a few back in the days. Not the modern but older ones. Still, don't think there were so many action in any of the modern Superman comic books.
Pitt - 6/25/2013, 3:04 PM
The action in MOS fits the movie, but I can understand some people can't keep up with the speed of the fight scenes, they fight fast. Luckily for me is wasn't a problem

ALegendaryPanda - 6/25/2013, 3:04 PM

If those are "flaws" to you then fine, that's cool. But some people like over the top action, including me.
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 3:05 PM

saw the Wolverine trailer before MOS. Man, i this movie won't rock, I will do seppuku.
TheWolverine08 - 6/25/2013, 3:06 PM
@ALegendaryPanda Well I don't like over the top action. Plus, their are others flaws to MOS.
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 3:07 PM
@jerryblake - yes. there is lots of action. it is a comic book. they do that
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 3:08 PM
"i don't like action in a comic book movie"

ALegendaryPanda - 6/25/2013, 3:08 PM

Well okay that's cool if you don't like it. But don't act like we shouldn't enjoy the action just because you don't.
jerryblake - 6/25/2013, 3:09 PM

ha. I know it's a comic book :)
I'm not dum ... dum ... dum... stupid
Pitt - 6/25/2013, 3:11 PM
These flaws people are talking about, is it flaws in the movie or things you guys don't like? Because the movie was well done. It will have the Batman Begins effect when more people get to see it when it gets that home video release. Blu Ray 3D for me :O
Emjeed - 6/25/2013, 3:14 PM
Braniac3000.. its a great read! its exactly the same story but it delves deeper into the minds of the characters. So know what Jor-El was thinking during the birth of supes among other things. There are also additional scenes that tie up plot holes from the film
AC1 - 6/25/2013, 3:15 PM
@jerryblake completely agree, although I'd personally bump it up to a 7.5/10. The dramatic scenes were really great, I just wish there was more of them, and the over-the-top action wasn't needed throughout the film, and the battle at the end should've been turned down a notch - 10 mins shorter, slightly less destruction.

Plus, there was this one shot I found very difficult to watch, thankfully it only lasted seconds, but it involved a ship (I think it was Zod piloting the scout ship from the arctic) crashing between two skyscrapers... all I could think about during that shot was the 9/11 attacks, and I'm not one to usually make connections between movies and real-life tragedies like that. That scene just seemed distasteful.

Ultimately, the film begged for more character driven plot, and less action sequences. As a result, leaving the cinema, while I enjoyed the film and was very excited by it, I also felt a little empty, because it seemed that not much actually happened between the fight scenes.
TheWolverine08 - 6/25/2013, 3:16 PM
@jerryblake If The Wolverine sucks, I'll be so [frick]ing depressed. Wolverine needs a great solo film.
Jollem - 6/25/2013, 3:16 PM
@jerryblake - never was saying you wuz dumb. maybe you just didn't know?
InfiniteMonkey - 6/25/2013, 3:17 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing a Superman prequel with all these beasts.
