Phil Saunders is one of Marvel's most talented go-to-artist, having previously worked on Joss Whedon's The Avengers and the original Iron Man film, directed by Jon Favreau. If you'd like to see more of Phil Saunders' artwork, you can click here to visit his blog.

As for the artwork below, one of the interesting tidbits of info that Phil has passed along involving the initial concepts for Extremis soldiers.
"In early versions of the script Extremis was based on Nanotechnology like in the comic book, and would have constructed some sort of internal armor structure to grant the enhanced soldiers super-strength and near-invulnerability. thematically they would have been a reflection of Tony Stark, wearing their "suits" internally rather than externally. Makeup would have subtly suggested that structure by deforming their skin in a mechanical way. " - Phil Saunders

He also mentions that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jamie "The Kingslayer" Lannister from Game of Thrones, was considered for the role of Savin. So, much of artwork for Savin bears Nikolaj's likeness, not James Badge Dale's.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce. The film opened in theaters May 3, 2013. It stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

tacobender - 8/20/2013, 1:31 PM
Sneaky & Shotgun look awesome
McNyagano - 8/20/2013, 1:36 PM
So the "Sneaky" Stealth suit is the one he jumps into here

Marqy47 - 8/20/2013, 1:37 PM
Very cool
3DWitchHunt - 8/20/2013, 1:39 PM
Oh look, generic armor #38
rbfn04 - 8/20/2013, 1:42 PM

CharlesLord - 8/20/2013, 1:44 PM

How long before the "but hurt" reminiscing begins?

4… 3… 2… 1
jimoakley666 - 8/20/2013, 1:53 PM
They are some [frick]ing sexy designs. Shame we got to see [frick] all of any of them. What a waste.
MarkV - 8/20/2013, 1:54 PM
Iron Man 1 was a pretty awesome movie.
Marqy47 - 8/20/2013, 1:59 PM
Iron man 3 was a pretty awesome movie too
sameoldthing - 8/20/2013, 2:16 PM
IM-3 was weakest Marvel Studios film but I still love the character.
The concept art is great.

Iron Man is badass when ya realize he has the money & knowledge to create armors to kick ass for every occasion.
Marqy47 - 8/20/2013, 2:30 PM
I would say IM3 is the 2nd strongest behind the big A
GodzillaKart - 8/20/2013, 2:50 PM
@Maxi91291: I have it in the number 2 spot as well, but for me it's behind IM with A in the #3 spot.
Marqy47 - 8/20/2013, 3:08 PM
@Godz

I meant it as an objective observation. You know, when we eliminate personal preferences and the opinions of critics, just the general consensus. How much people wanted to see it and how much they liked it.

But sure ... when talking about personal opinions I cant really decide, I mean A is certainly n.1 for me right now but I like all mcu movies ... IM films are great, Thor is great, so is hulk and Cap has a really special place for me .. cant wait for Cap 2
HumanTorch83 - 8/20/2013, 3:41 PM
The thing that pisses me off is the fact that he had all these Armors, and they all do different things, and we got basically no usage of them. All wasted on a big 3rd act fight scene.

Through out the movie I would've loved to see Stark be forced to use the Stealth suit, or have a reason to use the Under Water suit., etc...
TheSoulEater - 8/20/2013, 3:43 PM
That's what Extremis is SUPPOSED To look like GOSH DAMN IT
Mike89 - 8/20/2013, 4:39 PM
Sweet concept art. Too bad the movie sucked. :P
marvel72 - 8/20/2013, 4:40 PM
i enjoyed iron man 3 just hated the mandarin twist,it ruined all the ten rings build up from the first movie.

it really should of been the mandarin in this movie, thor had loki in his movie & cap had the red skull why couldn't iron man of had the mandarin in his.
CaptainProg - 8/20/2013, 4:55 PM

CaptShipwreck - 8/20/2013, 6:17 PM
If you [frick]s that love to complain so much about the movie , get off your nerd ass and do a better movie ! And damn mods need to curb this shit
SnapperCarr - 8/20/2013, 8:55 PM
What's the point? We only saw it for two minutes?
MightyZeus - 8/20/2013, 9:36 PM
The concept art looks good.
Battabing - 8/20/2013, 9:52 PM
There's nothing awesome about IM3.

Marvel and their generic military industrial complex villains.
TheLetter10 - 8/20/2013, 11:02 PM
I love how supposed fanboys like to crap on Iron Man 3 but can't stand the fact that it is 1000x better than Man of Steel. Amazing film.
Luminus - 8/20/2013, 11:28 PM
Meh. I own a truck, so Iron Man better not try to stop me when I make my move to take over the world.
Liverpool4life - 8/21/2013, 2:50 AM
Great concept art but you know the usual crap about the twist upset my pwecious wittle bwain. The Mandawin without alien wings made me and 1000 fanboys cwy. Yet, the genewal pubwic loved it!
Dinotron - 8/21/2013, 9:30 AM
My bigger complaint about Ironman 3 isn't even te Mandarin cuz I was okay with it, it was the fact that these beautifully designed suits were barely seen and used, they at most got a 5 sec spotlight. I wanted Tony to use the suits on certain missions and sequences that required a certain suit. If he was under water I wages to see the water whatever suit, or go somewhere super fast the hyper velocity suit, and needs so heavy lifting the igor. I don't believe they used his plethora of suits effective at all
kevberg - 8/21/2013, 10:01 AM
McGee...I have that haterade shirt.

oh its true.
norseman79 - 8/21/2013, 6:00 PM
A bunch of cool suits that served no purpose other than to look cool but functionally be generic as [frick] onscreen. Then they get ripped apart after 10 seconds of screen time.

What a waste.
Jer3miah - 8/21/2013, 6:19 PM
I've never seen so much useless armor/suits before in my life. How are you going to give someone an armory and them only use the sorriest weapon in it for a short period of time? These armors like real tight, but we never used for what it was designed for. Goddamn stupid and irrelevant.
superbatmanlantern - 8/21/2013, 7:46 PM
shit feast movie.. with glow in the dark villians.
