Over the past several weeks, professional movie scoopers have been warning of misinformation being leaked out from Warner Bros. in the hopes of finding their mole(s). Perhaps this latest rumor from Nuke The Fridge is just that. Or, perhaps it's real. Who knows.
According to our source, the “Training Day” actor is being considered for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart instead. If this proves to be true, Green Lantern will join an ever growing list of members from DC’s Justice League of America that also include Superman, Batman and Wonder Women.

What's interesting, is that Denzel was involved in another Batman Vs. Superman rumor just several weeks ago. Think McFly Think reported that Denzel was up for the role of Lex Luthor. If Denzel does sign on, he'll be joined by Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman flies into theaters July 17, 2015.

CaptainAustralia - 12/28/2013, 12:11 AM
F*ck it. Just throw in a few more characters, retitle it to "SuperFriends 3D" and be done with it.
Fabius - 12/28/2013, 12:12 AM
Interesting news. He could be cool to see him in the GL role play. Can be better than Reynolds...funny that some people here are not very happy for this news. It s still MOS2 movie batman vs superman. No doubt. All superhero JlA will be in big screen less time. They are doing Avengers or Xmen DOFP movie.
Ocelot - 12/28/2013, 12:14 AM
Washington will not take a role where he's a supporting character, he's a leading man, his filmography will tell you just that, it's the reason why he turned down Fast and Furious 7. This is why I find these rumors that include him to be false.

I love Denzel, and I even think he'd make a great 'grizzled Military' John Stewart...but not in this film.

He should avoid this movie. It sounds like it's shaping up to be quite the disaster. Warner Bros/DC is really rushing into this film and a 'Justice League' with so many characters I can't imagine they'd all be treated as anything more than 1-dimensional caricatures.

If this is true I am really concerned about this film.

Geotheleo - 12/28/2013, 12:19 AM
Idris elba if John Stewart
LexHairFight - 12/28/2013, 12:19 AM
Damn people, it's st a rumor. In all seriousness I think all of this is just Hollywood misdirection to create hype and allow DC to gauge reactions. Affleck probably isn't even in the movie.
BboiBlack - 12/28/2013, 12:21 AM
Stop complaining about unfounded rumors. You people look too silly.
MisterMagurlypse - 12/28/2013, 12:22 AM
HaHaHaHaHa!!! Ohh, yea not gonna happen. I love Denzel, he owns everything he does but, not this. No way.
gamecreatorjj - 12/28/2013, 12:22 AM
This seems to be more and more like LEGO BATMAN 2: DC Supeheroes
ManDeth - 12/28/2013, 12:23 AM
I can see the Geriatric League jokes coming. What the hell kind of story are they doing to require such old actors??
LexHairFight - 12/28/2013, 12:26 AM
DC is going to say all of the characters/actors are in the movie, create all the marketing and cgi set photos and stuff. Then when we show up expecting the Justice League it will be Jonah Hex 2. It's the classic bait and switch.

DC is just trying to one-up Marvel's Mandarin twist. You think Superman is the hero and bam, he doesn't even show up.
LVNHI - 12/28/2013, 12:26 AM
Somebody debunk this please.
bigdannymac - 12/28/2013, 12:26 AM
Ok this is odd timing..

A college friend of mine started working for WB almost a year ago. We aren't "great friends" but I was one of his groomsmen at his wedding.

We were catching up on the 23rd and we started talking about Man of Steel, he said everyone is going crazy about MOS and the future of DC. He claims the Bat Suit isn't finished, but the early stages AKA the one Ben tried on, is a game changer. Not sure what he means, and to be honest, I don't want to be spoiled.

BUT - The point of this whole thing is, he said and I quote "The Top Six have already been cast, pending paperwork on a few" .. He then made a joke about how he heard there is a full out Justice League war scene that either kicks off the movie, and is set in the future, or it takes place right at the end, setting up JL the movie.

He also said Batman VS Superman is absolutely NOT the title. The kicker was this: As a "joke" he said to me "MOS2 could easily be split into 2 parts Superman/Batman and Justice League

Now with this rumor.. I have to wonder.. could that happen? Would that happen? It'd be dumb to do it that way no?

One thing i did straight out ask was if Ben would take over directing duties of Batman, and he said without a doubt that was part of the contract. Which according to him is at least a 5 picture deal.

Take all this with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to start anything. I've never said anything like this before. I'm not making anything up. There is no REAL new information here.

Just wanted to share it is all.
quas666 - 12/28/2013, 12:27 AM
wow idk what to think about this.
bigdannymac - 12/28/2013, 12:30 AM
While Denzel still looks young, I can't imagine they would cast him for this considering his actual age.

With his name popping up more and more, I have no doubt he might have been approached for a role, but i'd be very surprised if it's GL
JatevinM - 12/28/2013, 12:31 AM
Not believing a single thing until its confirmed that other characters are appearing.
Epicboy - 12/28/2013, 12:34 AM
Too much going on in one movie!

"A college friend of mine started working for WB almost a year ago."

Doing what?
Lizardking310 - 12/28/2013, 12:37 AM
Noo movie over crowding!.....Hal Jordan is the best lantern stop with all this John Stewart stuff damn it ! !
JatevinM - 12/28/2013, 12:37 AM
While I would love to see Denzel as Luthor he is simply too old to play John Stewart.
TelaVizion - 12/28/2013, 12:39 AM
I doubt it. They don't really want an older actor. That's why they picked baby face Afleck to play an "old" Batman.
Alphadog - 12/28/2013, 12:40 AM
I really hope that Dc confirms this so that i know that the Gal Gadot casting was a lie. Also, to all those that doubt that a X-men/Fantastic Four crossover could work there have already been two crossovers one in 1987 and another in 2006 called Ultimate X4.
bigdannymac - 12/28/2013, 12:40 AM
@Tyrus - What I meant about "Not trying to start something" was, I don't want to start some war of words. It was an honest conversation, but it was only 10 minutes of a 45 minute call.

@GGOBL - He works under Sue Kroll, which is Marketing & International Distribution. He is heavily involved in all marketing plans for North America mostly. He gets to see pretty much anything that will go to print or rolled out digitally for promotion of all WB Products.

So he's not on-set or have any first person knowledge of any developments, but he says due to the excitement of what they are working on, all departments are hands on.

Hope that clears up everything
