Fanboys You're Not Alone, Seth Green Doesn't Like Ben Affleck As BATMAN Either

Seth Green, the actor that played Scott Evil in the Austin Powers franchise, was a guest on Ora TV’s “Larry King Now.” During his conversation with King, Seth mentioned he was glad Batman adaptions had graduated from the campiness of the Adam West television series to the grittier versions we've seen more recently.

“You gotta remember that at the core of that character, Batman’s a crazy person. Batman has no powers. Batman is a rich, screwed up kid whose parents were killed in front of him.”

Seth praised Michael Keaton's performance in Tim Burton's Batman films. Though, he voiced trepidation when it came to Batman incumbent, Ben Affleck ("Dazed and Confused").

“If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans before all else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older, you need a guy who’s got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of,” Green said.

Snyder will direct the film from a screenplay being written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Goyer and a story co-created by Goyer and Snyder. Zack Snyder’s Superman/Batman film stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman film which will now be arriving in theaters May 6, 2016.

... And here come the people who have apparently been hating Seth Green for a long time :P

I have no beef with Seth, but Superman wouldn't be intimidated by Batman's physique because he's a kryptonian which basically makes him a God toward Batman, unless Batman had kryptonite.
RedArrow - 2/19/2014, 3:19 AM
i totally agree with him, though i don't feel batman is a "screwed up, rich kid".
mbembet - 2/19/2014, 3:20 AM
i cannot wait for ben affleck to kick the crap out of man of shit
SageMode - 2/19/2014, 3:23 AM
Seth Green really wanted to say that Affleck is a shitty actor. I would've.
Klone - 2/19/2014, 3:25 AM
Batman and Superman fear each other both on some level. Batman for his lethal he is and Superman for how powerful he is and that he can kill hundreds so easily whenever he wanted.
Nubase - 2/19/2014, 3:29 AM
seth at no point said that he does not like Affleck as batman so the title of this post was just to get us to notice it but l think we all now have accepted Affleck as batman
Superior - 2/19/2014, 3:39 AM
MAC but weight has nothing to do with that. Most of the time, someone's actions are the result of fear. His weight could matter less when fighting a Kryptonian.
MrNiklander - 2/19/2014, 3:40 AM
I have accepted Batffleck and Gadot as Wonder Woman(Hey everyone deserves a chance) but the one I can't even give a shot is Jesse Eisenberg you wanna tell me that this guy who most of his movies bubble[frick]s and looks like he is 19 years old is gonna play Lex Luthor the most richest asshole in comic book history

As for Seth Green's statements:Dude you are about 6 months late

Cause* not result.

Seth goes onto basically say how he can't see past Affleck in the role of Batman, and most of his grief seems based on speculation of what the plot/time frame/age of Batman is. Furthermore to go on and throw a nod of support towards Clooney when even George had said how he helped ruin Batman, gave all of Seth's credibility a trip down a gaping pit.
Imagine if Seth got a role in the new Star Wars movies and Affleck came out and said...well I just don't see it. Have some faith Seth wait till the movie actually comes out, or at least a trailer.

After seeing how good Batman still looks in Robocop, they should have went to him to come back as a "mature and seasoned" Batman. Not go to Ben Affleck.

On top of the fact that he still basically looks like a teenager, bringing in Marvel related people hasnt worked well for WB in the past.
xXkryptoniteXx - 2/19/2014, 3:52 AM
Affleck will be fine, he might just be the best Batman yet. Everyone's opinion for best Bruce/batman seems to change easily. To me the best overall was Micheal Keaton because he nailed both sides of the character. Bale was the best Wayne but as the side of Batman, he was not. Lets see if Affleck can nail both sides of the coin.

Btw Kevin Conroy was the best for both if you count animations and keaton comes next, but as for live action so far it's keaton.
SaxoWolf - 2/19/2014, 3:56 AM
oh snap, now the movie will be delayed 6 more months.
mgeoff88 - 2/19/2014, 3:57 AM
I like how Seth Green waited to share his opinion on Ben Affleck as Batman after everyone else is pretty much on board with him now.

I agree with the guy that says Ben Affleck will crush it:

I want to hear what Seth Green thinks about Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor lol.
miklonus - 2/19/2014, 4:18 AM
I'm no conspiracy theorist, I hate Marvel Studios, and I hate Warner Bros, but I find it interesting that a video talking about Batman and Superman just happens to find itself/its way online the day a trailer for a new Marvel movie premieres online.
Enphlieuwince - 2/19/2014, 4:18 AM
Man, you can't take anything Chris Griffin says seriously...

I was with him, I was mainly with him, for the most part, until he got to the part where he said "Superman says: 'I won't kill people' and Batman says: 'well you do what you gotta do'"

"WHAT"?

How the [frick] could he say so many things that were right and yet "wrong" about both characters in the same sentence, let alone the same interview, and part up until just that part "in" the interview?

I mean I don't [frick] with Seth Green or any of those type of guys in Hollywood, but, this, this right here, this video, this interview, for the first time, ever, endeared me to him, but NEITHER Superman OR Batman....I mean that's common sense that they would never kill ANYONE. Ever. Fuc_ the pocket Zod bullshit and Snyderman. How could Seth had been "SO" right and sounding so damn knowledgeable and then get that fundamental part wrong?
miklonus - 2/19/2014, 4:30 AM
"I agree with the guy that says Ben Affleck will crush it"

How the fuc_ do you know that Affleck will crush it when you have nothing to base it on?

You wanting something and it actually happening are two different things. It's called wishful thinking (on your part).
ManCalledSting - 2/19/2014, 4:41 AM
Gotta love the trolls. Hey, Disney's Marvel Studios is putting out two family friendly action comedies a year, so atleast you have that. Judging from the trailer, GotG will be no different.
Clainer - 2/19/2014, 4:45 AM
@miklonus maybe he's basing it on the fact Affleck has won 2 Oscars, 2 Golden Globes, 2 BAFTAS and countless other awards. Also, the guy said "I agree with.." NOT "I know he will.."
sameoldthing - 2/19/2014, 4:46 AM
No one knows shit..until the movie is out & we see him as Batman.
It's just complaining & guessing til then.
Luminus - 2/19/2014, 4:47 AM
"you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of."

BatmanRobinNightwing - 2/19/2014, 5:31 AM
@Miklonus so its ok for everyone to say avengers 2,GotG(before yesterdays trailer) or Ant-man will be the best movie ever, but if someone says "Affleck will crush it" you flip the F_CK out and basically say how they don't know shhiittt, they haven't seen anything.
AmazingFantasy - 2/19/2014, 5:56 AM
lmao seth who gives a shit about you
TheUltimateSuperman92 - 2/19/2014, 6:00 AM
I believe in Ben Affleck ,,he will be the most bad ass batman ever appeared on screen ..we shall see
SuperSomething616 - 2/19/2014, 6:06 AM
You're opinion doesn't really carry much weight Mr.Green...so you know keep it to yourself...
JoeMomma29 - 2/19/2014, 6:07 AM
I love Seth Green he is a true fan at heart and I will always welcome his opinions even if they are wrong.
LEEE777 - 2/19/2014, 6:09 AM
SETH ain't sheep THUMBS UP!

I'm sure he can make a good Batman though, it isn't Batman you gotta master, Bruce Waynes the hard part and no way in h*ll has he got the chops for it.

Still hope he's half good fingers crossed :)
TimL - 2/19/2014, 6:20 AM
Jesse Eisenberg is in this, this movie is long dead for me.
BackwardGalaxy - 2/19/2014, 6:23 AM
You need a guy Cavill's Superman is gonna actually be scared of... Duh, that's why they cast Jesse Eisenberg. Hello? McFly?

Oh, wait...
ManCalledSting - 2/19/2014, 6:26 AM
Aww, I love it when you follow my comments, it's very flattering.
Desrow - 2/19/2014, 6:27 AM
While I don't hate Seth Green, we should wait and see how Affleck performance turns... that being said, seems like Seth Green it's prejudging too much.
kevberg - 2/19/2014, 6:30 AM
Seth has his opinion, and hes got a great way of seeing things, but...Affleck should have the chance to shine. Bens solid.
Nomis - 2/19/2014, 6:54 AM
Who's Seth green?
Arrowhead77 - 2/19/2014, 7:26 AM
@Grif...Did Jesse Eisenburg sleep with you girlfriend or something?
duncboy - 2/19/2014, 7:36 AM
I dunno about this - Seth Green makes it sound like Batman is willing to go out there snapping necks and shiz. I think he's generally right on with what he's saying and after hearing it, I can understand why Josh Brolin would've been a good choice for that version of Batman. Regardless, Ben Affleck is a good actor (Voyage of the Mimi pro) and I'll at least give him a chance. My biggest worry is that Bruce Wayne will have Ben's generic/standard Boston-personality built in. I swear, every single movie that Affleck does, the character is at least half-Boston.
