We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

Electro was great. Max Dillon was horrible.
TheIncredibleHulksta - 5/2/2014, 9:52 AM
Wow...that's mediocre.

Dr. Manhattan!
AlphaAndDecima - 5/2/2014, 9:59 AM
His clothes didn't burn in Times Square. His clothes stayed on when he made disappearing acts inside Ravencroft and OsCorp. The film just lacked any kind of logic.
charlie2094 - 5/2/2014, 10:00 AM
Cool art! Quite like how Electro turned out, visually
earzmundo - 5/2/2014, 10:00 AM
it was [frick]in twilight
SuperCat - 5/2/2014, 10:01 AM
LMAO! @ TheIncredibleHulksta

It does look like Nic Cage though.
MrCBM56 - 5/2/2014, 10:01 AM
@Ezio Without spoiling, IMO it was great. It drags at times and becomes a little convoluted but the action, acting, and chemistry all makes up for it. The comedy is pretty bad but it's tolerable. You never really have to take this movie seriously until the third act, that's when things start to heat up. & the last 30 minutes are really amazing and powerful. Rhino was really cool but Paul Giamatti really over-acted. But again, it's tolerable. 8/10 for me.
Comedian03 - 5/2/2014, 10:02 AM
And here comes the people who say the same thing on every ASM2 article

"Don't listen to random reviews online, make your own opinions. Movie looks awesome. Jesus christ people!"

Then they see the movie and it becomes
"OMG ASM2 was awesome! Best Spider-Man movie yet! Go see it everyone! So [frick]ing good!"
themidnightking - 5/2/2014, 10:02 AM
@AlphaandDecima
That pissed me off so much

They pretty much jack a few visuals from Watchmen in this movie.
themidnightking - 5/2/2014, 10:06 AM
They really dumbed down Peter in this one.
Comedian03 - 5/2/2014, 10:12 AM
If you don't pay attention to details, if you don't mind a plot that makes no sense, if you don't mind cliche characters, if you don't enjoy well thought out and meaningful dialogue, if you like bright colors and shiny things, and if it doesn't take a whole lot to entertain you, then yeah, you'll probably enjoy ASM2

"It's my birthday and it's time to light my candles!" - Electro

When Spidey calls Goblin Harry he responds with the cliche "Harry's Dead!"

Good writing? Good acting? Give me a break. Garfield and Stone were great. The villains SUCKED!

Chris Cooper was great for his 4 minutes on screen.

Terrible film overall IMO.
NeoBaggins - 5/2/2014, 10:16 AM
I still want to see it for myself. But I have to see it soon before it goes into redbox territory.

Electro was in a completely different movie. Shit villain.

^ [frick] yeah, I'm in business, ooohhh, shiney! Lmao...
TimL - 5/2/2014, 10:18 AM
@Comedian03 amen to that.
ThePowerCosmic - 5/2/2014, 10:21 AM
Jaimie Foxx and Giamatti were so over the top and completely unbelievable even as comic book villains.

Dehaan's acting and look just straight up sucked I thought.
charlie2094 - 5/2/2014, 10:22 AM
@Sid

I was fine with everything else, but that line was the worst. "Time to light the candles" was the one moment I actually cringed at, bit too hamfisted and cheesy at times :P
Sumitsjc - 5/2/2014, 10:26 AM
@NeoBaggins

lol !!

Here's what I'll say about this movie, I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun and entertaining with some great action and good acting in parts.

What's funny is that literally everything that everyone is saying about this movie (both good and bad) is correct, it's just one of those movies that you'll probably end up both loving and hating. At some point I stopped expecting every CBM to have a perfect balance of acting, plot, and action. Sometimes you'll have films like MOS or Wolverine where the narrative completely takes over the film (for better or worse) and sometimes you'll have a film like this, full of cliche stuff and plot holes. I just learned to love them all for what they are I guess...
0megaDaGod - 5/2/2014, 10:37 AM
@Neo

LMAO

CONFIRMED

He used to be a white guy

mrHJK - 5/2/2014, 10:38 AM
ASM2 was better than expected; Electro was cool, but a little under used (and yes that one line sucked)
The good stuff in this movie, I thought, was really good. Def better than the last two Spidey movies.

I think Webb was inspired by the new animated series electro, being a nerd and all.

To be honest, I think that the Goblin scene was well done and put together. Not that it was just some random scene, but in a sense it worked. However, the "Harry is dead" cliche really killed it for me. But all in all I loved Goblin.
NeoBaggins - 5/2/2014, 11:08 AM
Seriously tho, all kicking TASM2 while its down aside, should I spring for 3D? I'm kinda partial to the films that were actually shot in the format.

Jaspion - 5/2/2014, 11:11 AM
I don't mind the childish writing because I think the movie is aimed for children.
LeroyJenkins - 5/2/2014, 11:28 AM
Was there a mid credit scene and/or an end credit scene?
Jaspion - 5/2/2014, 11:31 AM
There's a scene from X-Men DOFP
126thst - 5/2/2014, 11:43 AM
If you cut some action scenes into an episode of Dawsons Creek you have Spider-Man 2
cjspade - 5/2/2014, 11:59 AM
I just saw it and as a huge marvel and even bigger spidey fan feel this is the best spiderman movie we have had overall. I find people unfortunately critique movies so much or harshly it prevents them from really enjoying anything. People nit pick about things like oh that's not logical when we are not only talking about a comic book movie full of illogical things but the comics themselves are not always logical.

If you have not seen it and your a huge spidey fan go see it!
Arrow96 - 5/2/2014, 12:00 PM
"Electrifying" electro concept art..............really........
Arrow96 - 5/2/2014, 12:02 PM
@Neo I saw it in 3D and it was good, but I'd see it in 2D if I were you.
antoineflemming - 5/2/2014, 12:41 PM
So they were going to go for the comic origins at first (judging by the concept art)?
