According to THR, joining Star Trek Into Darkness actor Benedict Cumberbatch (as yet another "Khan") in the Andy Serkis directed Jungle Book: Origins (yes, really) will be: Christian Bale as Begheera the panther, Cate Blanchett as Kaa the python, Naomie Harris as Nisha the wolf, Tom Hollander as Tabaqui the jackal, Eddie Marsan as Vihaan (Nisha's mate), Peter Mullan as the leader of the wolf pack, Akela, and Rohan Chand as Mowgli, the human boy. Serkis will also take on the role of Baloo the bear. The film will employ a mix of motion capture, CG animation and live-action to tell the classic tale -- much like the version Disney are also currently working on with Jon Favreau at the helm. The movie, which has a script by Callie Kloves and will be produced by her father Steve, is expected to hit theaters in October, 2016.

Cate Blanchett as Ka is great!
GreenLantern519 - 8/20/2014, 10:06 AM
I think they should combine the casts and make a better movie. Bill Murray as Buloo is perfect.
Dedpool - 8/20/2014, 10:09 AM
Battle of the Jungle Books. At least it will be better than battle of the Hercules. I will be seeing both!!
supes123 - 8/20/2014, 10:13 AM

DevarikaWoulf - 8/20/2014, 10:30 AM
For a second there I thought a person actually existed with the name of Steve Steve. I found out it's not true, and now my life sucks.
Snotzo - 8/20/2014, 10:30 AM
So in both versions they are making Kaa a female. Hmmmmmmmm
Gusto - 8/20/2014, 10:32 AM
Ror kinda reminds me of Mowgli.

Gusto - 8/20/2014, 10:32 AM

RorMachine - 8/20/2014, 10:44 AM
The pic is from the only recent comic book adap of the Jungle Book I could find! It seems to re imagine Mowgli as a woman...a particularity well endowed woman at that.
yossarian - 8/20/2014, 10:46 AM
If that art is anything like the final product, I will watch this.
JamesMan - 8/20/2014, 10:49 AM

TexasTwoFace - 8/20/2014, 11:10 AM
Two Jungle Books and a Tarzan movie? I hope people really like the jungle. And people worry about too many comic book movies... I'm interested though, I'm sure I'll watch them all.
case - 8/20/2014, 11:20 AM
Cor check out the sexy on that drawing!

Looks like Serkis is bringing in some big guns to make sure they compete! They've really gotta get rid of that title though.
MrNiklander - 8/20/2014, 11:26 AM
I never believed I would be so hyped for two movie adaptations of The Jungle Book
WWE the Rock says Bring It!
PymParticle - 8/20/2014, 11:31 AM
Isn't it awkward that we will have two films of Jungle Book with the same characters? How did that even happen in the first place?
yossarian - 8/20/2014, 11:33 AM
What is up with the clones?
