GOTG: Check Out the Tracklist For "Awesome Mix Volume Zero"

Yes, James Gunn has compiled an alternate Awesome Mix soundtrack to Guardians Of The Galaxy featuring much more contemporary tracks than the tunes from the 70s/80s we all fell in love with on the original. Take a look at the tracklist and an explanation from Gunn after the jump.

As Guardians Of The Galaxy gears up for its Blu-ray/DVD release, director James Gunn has shared an alternate soundtrack to the film which he's dubbed "Awesome Mix Volume Zero". These songs are much more high energy and definitely a little more obscure than most of the classics from Volume 1, but there's a few great tunes in there. Take a look, see which ones you recognize and if there's any you don't, get listening!

1. Never Wanted to Dance - Mindless Self Indulgence
2. Party Hard - Andrew W.K.
3. The Way It Was - Aceyalone (feat Bionik)
4. I Like It, I Love It - Lyrics Born
5. Let's Dance to Joy Division - The Wombats
6. Start Wearing Purple - Gogol Bordello
7. Ben Vereen - Pigeon John
8. Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
9. Black Fist - Juskwam and Lyrikill
10. Timebomb - The Old 97's

Here's what Gunn had to say about this new compilation:

On lighter days, our master soundman Simon Hayes would also play music on set between takes to keep people's energy up. He did this while shooting the credit sequence in the Temple of Morag, and he also did it for the Boot of Jemiah, so we could keep the extras hyped and alive and feeling like they were in a bar atmosphere. Being that these were night shoots, it helped to keep people awake as well! Simon took requests for the credit scene, but for the Boot of Jemiah he asked me to put together an AWESOME playlist of high energy party tunes. So I did, featuring some of my favorite tunes.

More old songs for youngings to spam senselessly and show no further interest in the artists.

I liked teenagers and the rest of MCR before it was Marvel cool.

@Jollem. I loved Iron Man 3, but couldn't stand the music they used. It just felt too different from the first two. Ya know, they still could have used A.C./D.C. in the flashback. Its not like Tony Stark just recently discovered them. Anyways......I know it was a different director, and it would feel a little different, but come on. Just once would of been enough to make me happy. Like when he shows up in Avengers.

*sigh*

I've seen crueler comments against DC than his own semi-respectful opinion of a single Marvel movie....please, don't be so defensive over an opinion.

Seriously dude, [frick] off! It's fine if you didn't like Iron Man 3, but dont insult people who did, by calling them ignorant. This is why nobody likes you on this site.

Would be cool if the BluRay had different mixes in the films. So we could choose whether we wanted obscure rock stuff or something else

Oh please, you meant what you said. The only reason you are saying it was a joke now is so you can make yourself seem like the innocent victim in this situation, like you always do.

I dont see how a happy face can fully insinutate that you were joking, especially in your situation, where your past activity on this site shows you to be nothing but a troll. But whatever, i'm not going to argue over this.

Why is it that IM, Cap, and GOTG can get awesome songs, yet Thor can't? I'd love to hear some Amon Amarth, Manowar, and Tyr in a Thor movie.
