Marvel Reintroduce Trading Cards For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Relaunch

The '90s kids will remember the comic trading card era very well. In certain bagged issues we'd receive a character card, and they were completely awesome..although I'm not really sure why! Check out the GOTG range which will debut with the upcoming title relaunch..

This March, Guardians of the Galaxy #1 launches in style with special limited edition trading cards, ONLY available at select retail shops hosting a launch party! That’s right, one of the biggest launches of the year just got bigger with one of a kind collector’s items! Courtesy of blockbuster creators Brian Michael Bendis (All New X-Men, Age Of Ultron) and Steve McNiven (Civil War, Old Man Logan), fans are in for the ride of their life as the Guardians of the Galaxy put their lives on the line for the sake of the Marvel Universe. There’s a new rule in the galaxy, and it’s put Earth off limits to any outsiders. But why has Earth become so important? That’s what Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot AND Iron Man are about to discover.

But that’s not all! ONE of these trading cards will not be as readily available as the others. But which one? Well you’ll have to head on over to a local participating retailer to find out!














Between this, the die cut covers from DC and the foil covers from Marvel, comics seem to have entered a time warp..not that I'm complaining. You can nab one of teh above trading cards when you pick up a copy of Guardians Of The Galaxy #1 from any launch parties held by participating retailers.

Stupid freaking designs. I could not possibly care less about this newest volume. Hate Bendis taking over GOTG. This has nothing on DnA's steez.

Minus the sexy part, him not having his mask is one of the bigger frustrations. Wouldnt like the costumes with it, but without it is simply unacceptable in every which way. For every step forward made... *sigh*

I still can't believe Chris Pratt is Star-Lord, its gonna be weird not seeing him as Andy from Parks and Recreation. I hope he's versatile in his acting skills

I remember Marvel had a few card collection sets back then.I still have my X-Men collection drawn by Jim Lee and X-Men Series 2 drawn by Greg Capullo,Alan Davis,Art Thibert,Brandon Peterson,Andy Kubert,Joe Quesada,Joe Madureira.I had a few of the cards that Marvel did for the whole Marvel Universe where on the back they had a graph showing how powerful the characters were.I can't remember what happened to them.I would love to see Marvel do a trading card set like that today.Get Olivier Coipel,Jim Cheung,Adi Granov,Ryan Meinerding,Mark Bagley,Stuart Immonem,Esad Ribic,and Joe Quesada to provide the art.

I loved collecting Marvel cards when I was in elementary school. Used to have the entire Spider-Man & X-Men 95 series' of cards. Sold them all on craigslist a few years ago.

Fully agree Batz... i think its a genius move in the long run including Iron Man. So many of you claim you're sick or Iron Man, but I call bullshit. RDJ oozes Stark and I simply can't get enough.

Looking at those cards now brings ack great memories.Being young ck then comics and music were my love.And girls.The X-Universe was so badass back then to me.

I have to be honest. I'm still trying to get used to these GotG new looks. Man, even Star Lord gives me the feeling i'm looking at Adam Warlock with a haircut instead of Peter Quill.

Okay, I get the space suits... but I hope they make them closer to their comic book counter parts in terms of theme. That image of Starlord aint Starlord, and I really hope they don't go this route. I like the space pirate look. And Groot with lights... eh.

re-introduces? Huh? Believe it or not they still produce trading cards.

These are the not the same thing as the cards that were packaged in some comics back in the 90s...i think what he's refering to was the Annuals and that year they were introducing a new character for each annual. For the guardians of the galaxy that was a boring character named the Irish Wolfhound.

Where the hell is Starhawk and Vance is all i have to say.

My sister collected Marvel trading cards, and I even contributed to the collection.

I recently rescued them from her closet, which also has TMNT action figures, but those are hers.
