Looks like a combo of the classic Zatanna outfit and her early 80's look with the purple cape and that red thing in her hair.

Agreed with all those who say the classic look is the best. I dunno why, but the hat just sells it for me.

Costumes like this are the reason why female superheroes aren't taken seriously. If they're just there as eye candy, why should we give a crap?

Not only that, but it alienates female readers, which the industry sorely needs. DC really needs to wake up a little bit.

Costumes like Captain Marvel's, Storm/Psylocke's new UXF costumes, and Rogue/Scarlet Witch's Uncanny Avengers costumes are forward thinking, practical, and still retain iconic elements.

So what happen to that new Less Sexist policy, DC?

Didn't see as many comic sales, did ya'?

LOL

Before you start shitting on it with the oversexualized female heroes bit (which yes is a real problem) - Zatanna, Wonder Woman, and Power Girl are the ones that own their "overt" sexiness (especially Power Girl, who to me is the female equivalent of Guy Gardner). Zatanna was always 'Va Va Voom' (what with the whole being-a-performer-in-Vegas thing) and if you've noticed - she's surprisingly covered.

Let's atleast shit on it for being an ugly costume.

Yah, they really are going back to the old designs. She needs her top hat.

@Jollem I hope she gets her top hat back.

@xcrementus I completely agree with you. On the big screen, she'll get a more conservative redesign.

I don't know if that will ever really change in comics though.

@Ski1The1realest1ever A woman wearing fishnet stockings is for gay people?

That makes me gay then, because I think it's hot when women wear fishnet stockings.

I think they were going for a slight homage to the second costume she wore while she was part of the Satellite-era/Detroit-era League, with elements of her trademark 'tux'.

It's not a uniform and she's not a superhero. It's a stage costume and she's a performer. And occasionally she hangs out with superheroes and saves their bacon.

Something unique about that top hat & heels! Lose the boots..."been there, done that"! Cape & boots are sooooo lame! Please show some originality! Why not go back to the root of her costume & reference some sexy magician's assistants! Now there's a thought!
xcrementus
xcrementus - 4/4/2013, 4:04 AM
of course you wouldn't take them seriously, if they were dressed like strippers and whores. You can look heroic without looking like street trash.

Its one of the biggest reasons females don't read comics. that's a fact. That's why the new Captain Marvel series has a huge female following now, because the images aren't so garish. She LOOKS like a superhero, and she acts like an actual woman, not an object.

Wonder Woman changing back to bikini bottoms was just a terrible move long-term. She really can't be a credible feminist superhero dressed like that.

Between this, and hiring Orson Scott "gigantic bigot" Card to write Superman, and their changing Starfire into a tramp, Im beginning to think DC doesn't care about the long game.
