More From William Fichtner On TMNT; Reveals Shredder's Real Name In This Movie
Although Fichtner is the one that previously revealed that he'l be playing the TMNT villain, while chatting to Screenrant he seems to be holding back a little. However he does give us the civilian name of the Shredder, and no, it's not Oroko Saki!
We all kinda figured Fichtner would be playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' greatest adversary, The Shredder, when he was cast in the upcoming reboot -- even though the character is actually a Japanese warrior named Oroko Saki in the original comics/cartoons/movies etc. The actor recently confirmed this, but now he seems a bit less willing to discuss the role, as this is what he had to say to Screenrant when asked whether he had started to get down his look as The Shredder in the movie.
“I actually play a guy named Eric Sachs [Sounds like Sachs? Hard to understand] in the movie. And then he goes through a few stages in his existence. But Turtles is coming together very, very cool. There is a whole interesting dynamic that happens in the world of Turtles and all I can really say about it at this point while working on it is that the Turtle film, it’s not like anything that I remember about the Turtles before. I feel like this Michael Bay-produced movie is just gonna really be something else. I’m pretty excited.”
They also ask if this Sachs fella will be Japanese, to which Fichtner replies; “You know, uh, you know I think it would be much more exciting to find out these things as it unfolds.” A leaked early script draft of this reboot depicted Shredder as a military man named ‘Colonel Schrader’, who led an army that was nicknamed “The Foot”. It's a safe bet that's the route they've gone with this, only changing the character's name..but we'll see. No need to ask you Turtles fans what you think of this!
