Deadline report that Fede Alvarez will direct a live action take on the Electronic Arts action adventure video game Dante's Inferno for Universal. The game is based on "Inferno", the first canticle of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, (why Universal don't simply adapt that and are going straight for the video game is anyone's guess..but there ya go) and follows the exploits of Dante (reimagined as a Templar knight) as he journeys through the nine circles of Hell to reclaim the soul of his beloved Beatrice from the hands of Lucifer. Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent)is on script duties, with Bruce McKenna (The Pacific) writing an earlier draft.

l'm surprised it has taken this long to do a movie of the divine comedy.

l played the game and its superb but the movie should not be hard to adapt to be honest, its quite straightforward but theres way it will be less then a r rated movie.

NOw, they adapt unsuccessful games?
Like, we can't do a good movie out of a good game BUT we find a mediocre game or shitty game to make a shitty movie, so no one will complain!

I rather see a Dead Space Movie get John Carpenter he said he do it and he played the games so he knows the material.

The game plays just like God of War, but is still good nonetheless. The Evil Dead remake was AWESOME, I'll definitely watch this!

@Enphlueince-the anime is based on the game which is, in turn, based on the epic poem.
