First Glimpse Of 'The Beast' In Poster For Christophe Gans' BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

The very first one-sheet for Brotherhood Of The Wolf/Silent Hill director Christophe Gans' upcoming take on the classic fairytale has been released, featuring a new look at 'Beauty' (Léa Seydoux) an dour first at 'Beast' (Vincent Cassel)..

There have been numerous versions of this story already, from Disney's much loved animated feature to the recent travesty Beastly. Guillermo Del Toro is also said to be interested in directing his own take with Harry Potter's Emma Watson, and there is another French version of the story out there too; the bizarre 1975 flick La Bête (The Beast). There have been a few comic book adaptations too, including a limited series from Marvel with X-Men's Beast and Dazzler! Gans also wrote the screenplay of the French language version, with a budget of around €33 million ($43.2 million). Silent Hill is generally considered to be among the best video game adaptations out there (not exactly difficult I know), and his genre mixing Brotherhood Of The Wolf is something of a flawed masterpiece imo so I'm looking forward to this.

No US/UK release dates yet, but the movie opens in France on February 12, 2014.

I don't know if I'm sold on the cgi beast. I think Del Toro's will look more believable since he's really good with Monster make-up! :) Still looking forward towards seeing both adaptions.

I find it ironic that the actor playing the Beast is named Vincent in real life when there was Ron Perlman who played the Beast named Vincent.

Lion-face... again?! The DISNEY version is MORE SCARRY than this. WTF? This man filmed "Brotherhood of the Wolf" ("Le Pacte des loups") - one of the best movies ever, he is epic great director, so why he turn Cassel in Lion Aslan? What the hell?

And this will be a PG-13 kindergarten movie?

For those of you who don't know, Lea Seydoux let's her sweater puppies out for long periods of time in just about every one of her movies (it's allowed in France when you're under 18).

I wonder if this movie will be rated R.

And Vincent Cassel is the Marovingian from the Matrix.

@Havenless, the Merovingian was played by Lambert Wilson, not Vincent Cassel.

@GodOfMischief, Beauty and the Beast is a very old tale going back to Roman times.
The best versions in writing or on film are European.

That's not Ron perlman. Harry was played by Kevin Peter Hall, aka Predator.
